That's one of the advantages of walking a ton - you slow down and see things that have always been there but you've missed. Part of my intentional consciousness of really viewing my surroundings. The Meadow on The Cove is exactly what it sounds like - a giant meadow of wildflowers overlooking the Orleans Town Cove. Very pretty and worth checking out. Not much to do here but there are two clearings with park benches, so you can sit & rest and reflect or read in peace. There's a small parking area when you first go in (room for 5 cars) but I had the place to myself the entire time I was there. A lace like this is part of the charm of a small town like Orleans. And don't forget the bees! TONS of big, friendly, fuzzy black & yellow Bumble Bees taking full advantage of this massive field of Wildflowers. There's something very zen about watching them make their rounds. (Full disclosure: when I wrote 'black & yellow Bumble Bees' above, it made me think of the metal band Styper! And Michael Sweet, the lead singer of Stryper actually lives on the Cape. Yes, I know I'm a weirdo. But still, Stryper Rocks!)

The National Parks Service…read more(NPS) does an excellent job of preserving this area, welcoming guests with the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham and the Province Lands Visitor Center at the north end of the cape near Provincetown. We visited the Salt Pond Visitor Center, which is about as as good as it gets for a NPS facility, as it has a ranger station, maps, a beautiful viewpoint of Salt Pond, a museum, restrooms, gift shop, and a theater playing multiple historical films to help orient yourself to Cape Cod and learn a bit of its history. The Nasuet lighthouse is only a few minutes away, well known nationwide as the lighthouse pictured on bags of Cake Cod potato chips. We also visited Herring Cove Beach just as the sun was setting, which wasn't too crowded later in the day. The visitors centers are free to visit, although some of the beaches do have lots you need to pay to access. Overall, the Cape Cod National Seashore is well worth a visit while visiting Cape Cod, and has wonderful facilities to welcome guests that I'd happily recommend to others.

Make sure to bring a bag for photo opportunities or u may be asking someone to use theirs- LOL

We saw many unoccupied cars get tickets for parking in an illegal spot. The lighthouse and surrounding areas are beautiful. The lighthouse provides for such a stunning back drop. It's closeness to the water, allowed us to find secret spots to relax in close to the water. We also saw seals playing in the water. They definitely drew a crowd, along with photographers but it was such a sweet experience. The beach sand was soft and the water was gorgeous.

Memorial Day Weekend for the past two years my kids and I have stayed here. We liked the personal…read moreroom Vibe. With the dedicated parking spot in front. Well kept, clean room, with cozy beds. Microwave, Mini Frig, T.V with Cable. Small coffee pot set up. A desk, table 2 chairs. Hangers and luggage rack. There is a great Pool which is a big perk. Unfortunately, this year was to cold to swim. We had swam last year and it was great! There is a Supermarket across the street and the beach not far at all. The motel provides an informative binder. The town center is actually within walking distance for most people about 1/4 to 1/2 miles away. Becareful though, the road in front of the property, at the traffic lights gets very busy. We witnessed a bad car accident while waiting to cross the street, the 1st year. A Continental Breakfast with delicious homemade muffins is served every morning. To be totally transparent and give a 100% honest review these next things were a few minor issues that only happened our last visit. The water pressure in the shower was very slow. No shower liner, (not the problem) the fabric curtian got soaking wet and wet the whole floor, causing a slipping hazzard. The soap and shampoo/conditioners weren't filled. We were supposed to be given a second key that was never dropped off. Had the T.V. shut off at about 10pm while we were watching, out of nowhere. I called the office to let the staff know and got a NOT my problem response, that I wasn't excepting. This year we had tried to book 2 days again, but only one was available. We decide to take the 1 night and pay more then we would have elsewhere. No sure about next year.

We visited Coast Guard Beach on a Sunday, for the morning and early afternoon. We parked at 8:50am,…read morethe trolley was there waiting but we decided to walk the 1 mile path to the beach. It was a nice walk, altho for the 1st half it was wooded and the ground a bit dirty so i should have worn sneakers vs flip flops. The later part is paved and a boardwalk which was pretty. We took the trolley back and it was fast and easy. There are bathrooms at the main parking area as well as at the closest beach parking (resident only). Bathroom was clean and was being cleaned while we were there. The beach is huge especially at low tide. The surf was rough with endless seals swimming by and a shark flag waving. Water a bit cold. We walked 1 mile south during low tide and enjoyed all the tide pools and different shapes created in the sand by the water. We also walked a half mile north and it is very quiet except for the spot next to the entrance. Peaceful and reminded us of being on an island as it was so quiet with not many people around, and unique scenery. Bring your own everything as there is no snack shack.

There are some nice walkways to lookouts over the ocean and the marsh, and also a bike path that leads to Nauset. It can be a bit buggy on those walkways due to the marsh just fyi. There's tons of accessible parking. In fact it's only accessible and resident parking available at the lot right by the beach. My only complaint is that while there's lots of accessible parking, the lot is pretty far away from the entrance to the beach. As someone who can walk, but not for longer distances without a break, it's a bit frustrating. I wish there was at least a drop off point, but there's only a sign that reads "no drop offs at anytime. I've read they have beach wheelchairs in season, but there were none available at the time I was there.

BEWARE ! This is a private beach. We had thought it was maybe because the weather was bad that they weren't charging entry fees... well we were wrong. The guy comes in a little Eastham public works van parks in the back and just writes out $50 tickets to unsuspecting people. I always respect the rules when I go places and had I seen the signs I would of left. But seriously both roads into the parking area you cannot see them. Go up the road to first encounters beach. It's the same beach and they have a person there at the entrance that you can purchase a parking pass from. Both are beautiful and great for kids though.
