Terrible experience having her as my doctor. She doesn't care to give me referrals to other establishments when I ask, she is dismissive of my symptoms and mansplains what she thinks is wrong. And in many cases she has been absolutely wrong and it turns out I was right about how I feel. Like what kind of doctor invalidates and dismisses how their patients feels and has been going through? I know this is a Vietnamese establishment but I had a greater experience with my previous Vietnamese doctor. That is no excuse for them being so disorganized, uncommunicative, chaotic, dismissive, and having extreme lack of empathy or care in ANY establishment. If you want a doctor that does not care about you, does not go by her words, does not give you prescriptions like she says she will, mansplains and dismisses your symptoms, keeps on directing her attention towards completely different medical issues, then this doctor is just right for you! This physician and her staffs show no humanity to their patient. My mom is having a blurry and painful eye, which needs to be referred to an ophthalmologist. However, instead of giving my mom a general referral, they indicated an ophthalmologist who they have connections with, but her soonest appointment is next year! When my mom returned to Dr. Do's office to request another electronic referral to another ophthalmologist who has available appointment next month, the front staff/MA showed annoyed. When my mom begged her to help, they said the referral will be sent in the next 2 days. Why was the first referral sent immediately and the requested letter needs 2 days??? It's been 3 days and no referral letter has come yet. Without her referral, my mom cannot make an appointment with an ophthalmologist. This primary care doctor failed to refer her patient whose condition is out of her scope of practice. My family will continue to escalate this issue to the Medical board of California. Front desk staff would not give me an appointment until I get lab done. I've scheduled literally hundreds of appointments (for whole family) and no offices had ever refused to me an appointment because of this. I told them I needed a goal/deadline to work towards, but they didn't care. It's not like I missed any appointments throughout the many years I've been with them. There were many previous unpleasant incidents with front desk staff, but at least one of them was nice and helped me a couple of times. I must say having to experience the nightmare of finding an adequate doctor that takes my mothers insurance confirmed the fact that our healthcare is terrible for the elderly and POC. My grandmother has been seeing this doctor for about 12-14 years. She's the regular doctor for my poor grandmother who literally just retired at the age of 70. She dismissed my grandmas abdominals symptoms that were persistent for 6-7 months. Turns out it was cancer. She didn't even recommend going to get an endoscopy knowing my grandmas siblings does from abdominal cancer as well. Now the whole family is frantic trying to help grandma find a new doctor. Dr Do Dr Do, you are really awesome. I really find Dr Do amusing, for those of you who don't know her, she's a young, sassy, attractive doctor who walks around like she owns the place (which she does) in her 2 inch high heels. She employs an army of other equally sassy attractive ladies to help her with her mission of helping others feel better. Dr Do has been my doctor for the past 4 years and she has never been anything but wonderful and helpful the entire time. Her staff is always helpful and are perfectly willing to do mundane tedious tasks like calling up your insurance and checking if they cover something. Dr Do has always known what she's talking about. Its unfortunate that other yelpers have had bad experiences with her but I can tell you that if Dr Do does not know the answer to your situation, or if you question her diagnosis, she will gladly transfer you over to a specialist for a second opinion. Key Word: Gladly! I have had many doctors in the past simply ignore requests for transfers or try to make it so that they are right. This is not the case with Dr Do, she will listen to you and will do what she has to do. In terms of prescribing medicine, she usually lists a bunch of medication of your sickness and if you have a preference in mind, she will prescribe it to you. Atmosphere wise, the office is a lot more modern than other doctor offices. The waiting room is medium sized with a good amount of chairs for you to wait in. You NEVER have to wait long in the chairs if you have an appointment. The most i've waited is 10 minutes before I get called in to see the doctor. Many of the people who sit in the lobby are usually family members of whomever is being seen inside. The typical visit involves being called into the office area by one her nurses (she has a lot), getting weighed in, getting your blood pressure taken, and then waiting in the exam room for the doctor. The doctor usually comes in after 5-10 minutes with a happy : "So what can I do for you today?" By the way, for those that are wondering, Dr Do speaks PERFECT ENGLISH and PERFECT VIETNAMESE, so there shouldn't be a language barrier. I've never had a doctor (especially if it's under hmo) that they can't give a referral for a medical scan because "it's not necessary." This place is seriously a joke. A doctor had the audacity to say that my family member doesn't need paper work for an MRI or CT-Scan. I personally dealt with her before, where I knew where something was wrong with my heart and I needed to see what's wrong. They told me to leave, that it's not necessary for them to refer me. And if it's that bad, go to the ER to take care of it. Don't go to this place. If your family needs paperwork or need to take care of any serious illness, don't go. To be honest, for the past 3 years or maybe even longer, I've been using my Medi-Cal card to go Urgent Care and/or Express Care at Santa Clara Valley Center. I get better doctors who cares about my condition, given that I'm not their personal patient. Dr. Trang Do is considered my primary care doctor, and she's been so since I was 17. I've always felt uncomfortable there, especially with the ladies working there making me feel awful and judged. And the doctor herself never made me feel at ease and even when I know why I came in (feel a bad flu coming on), she will tell me to my face that I don't and that I will be better soon with ibuprofen (she prescribed me a high dose that made me throw up even with food), and the next day? I coughed so bad, fever, and chills. I was horrified. It's hard to get an appointment too unless it's just a routine check up where you won't care if it's a couple weeks away or whatever. It seems that I may be one of the luckier ones when it comes to the Dr. Do office experience. Dr. Do is a terrific doctor and I would love to give her a higher rating, but her staff is a complete mess. The receptionist need to check their attitude. I've called asking about my prescription that was a bit dated and was grilled on why I haven't been to the doctor in a while. If I don't need to, then why should I? The reception area may seem nice and tidy, but I've seen some things that have made me quite skeptical. One time I was waiting for my appointment and this lady was casually clipping her toenails across from me, leaving the clippings on the floor. Gross. Another time, this kid was playing with the potted plant and tossing dirt everywhere. None of the staff said anything about either of these things. I came in for a blood test one time and one of the younger nurses was on her phone not only while she was prepping me, but also WHILE drawing blood. Though she did a good job at finding my veins and hot hurting me, I was still a bit sketched out. The older nurse is very nice and attentive, but she has a hard time finding my veins and will usually have to do it on my right arm and always leaving a bruise. I have been struggling with shingles the most painful thing I've ever been through. I received gabapentin and Tylenol for pain. It wasn't working so I called the office and tried to speak to the front desk although they don't listen. She came back after talking to the doctor and said she said to increase my pills to six and I told her that means I would be taking like 12 pills at night for going to bed it seemed excessive and she just kept repeating herself so I increased it to six. When I ran out I called the office to get the refill never got a call back called again until then I was worried about the gabapentin because I was told you don't want to quit taking it abruptly she told me that they never told me to take the six pills and that she would have me turned over because she thinks I'm trying to get the pills just for drugs. I must say that this is the worst clinic that I have ever gone to all my life. Dr. Do was extremely unprofessional and careless that sometimes my family and I were skeptical of her medical knowledge and ethics. Two years ago, my nose had been stuffy for two months, which affected my hearing ability. I booked two appointments with Dr. Do. The first time, she checked my nose and ears swiftly and gave a prescription in less than five minutes. The second time, she did not even bother checking my nose. This is a "do-nothing" doctor who is barely qualified for writing prescription drugs for mundane seasonal allergies or a cold. Granted that there's a guideline for what doctor will get paid for and and how much by Medicare/Insurance, I don't blame doctor for sticking to it, but when a patient has serious medical conditions, I'd expect doctor to take the patient's health as a top priority by performing necessary tests and/or referring to a specialist who has more knowledge to further diagnose/treat the patient. Dr. Trang Do is either too lazy or too indifferent to patient's health or just completely clueless in medicine to do the expected. I still live with a tremendous amount of regret for not switching my mother to a better doctor or to Kaiser hospital sooner, and as a result of no treatment (not even mistreatment since she didn't do a damn thing), my mother has suffered a lot more than she would have been. I don't blame Dr. Trang Do for the death of my love one, but I blame her for lacking ALL of the most important attributes of a medical doctor in America: Diligence, Medical knowledge, Care about patient's health more than collecting payments from Medicare/Insurance. Doctor like this can only survive by milking Vietnamese community with people speaking no English. This is just my experience with the women at the front desk. They are in a customer service role, but they do not know how to treat patients. My mom had an appointment for a blood test. I had to cancel it while on the phone with one of the women, I was told there was not need to make an appointment for blood test. She just needs to show up and it will be on a first come first serve basis. When I took my mom into the office for blood test. On of the women went off on my mom asking why she did not make an appointment and they needed to prepare paper work for the blood test. I told her we were told we did not need to make an appointment for the blood test and she went on to say we would never say that. Another women actually took the time to look at my mom's file and said she is fine because she already has paperwork prepared. While I was waiting for my mom to get her blood test. I over heard them calling patients telling them, there was no need for blood test and to just come in on a first come first serve basis. Also a man cam in without an appointment for a blood test and they did not give him a hard time. They just called him back for his blood test. But this places deserves the low reviews because of the terrible receptionist in the front desk who has no common sense about customer service. She is rude and gives so much attitude. Just went here for back to back appointments for pack pain and then blood test. I didn't experience any of the bad customer service at all. Everything was actually very fast. I had an appointment at 3 pm. I arrived at 2:50 ish to check in and fill out all the information as a new patient. Within 5 mins of returning the clipboard I was called in to have weight and height checked followed by a heart rate test. After that I waited in the room for just a couple mins met with the doctor and explained everything I was feeling and that was that. I was prescribed some medicine and on my way. Worst service ever!!! Seek for more professional help. If you are able to communicate in English, go to those that serve mostly native speakers! I once faced abnormal vaginal bleeding. It didn't last for 2 weeks so I started to panic and try to seek for help. I don't usually visit the doctor for minor issues so when I came to the office, it was actually an emergency. I did know where to get better help, but this is my primary family doctor so I gave it a try. There, I talked to one of the receptionists about my condition and said I didn't make an appointment. So I haven't had the time to switch doctors because most of them in my area are not accepting new patients. Ive been sticking here after my last review just because I have no choice and my mom made me stay for convenience. However, I try to avoid going here as much as possible anyway and if its something minor I would go to the health building at my school, SJSU, where there are professional nurses and family practitioners. My mom called the doctors office today to get our flu shots (I agreed to go.. just flu shots right? How bad can they be?) and they told her that they are now not accepting medical at all anymore. Wait what? My mom has always given them the benefit of the doubt after all the times Ive told her how horrible they are. If there was negative stars, I would give it. I do not know much of the doctor but my review is for the receptionists. I don't know how many receptionists you would need to answer calls and be at the desk, but they have almost 9-12 people sitting at the front desk. Yet I don't know that is necessary WHATSOEVER. The person I spoke with was regarding my insurance. She was VERY unprofessional accusing me of not paying my bill. IF my insurance did not cover for my services on that specific date, the receptionists (maybe one out of all those 12 sitting at the desk) should have been bright enough to TELL me that my insurance would NOT cover for my visit that day. If that was done, I would not have to owe this doctor out of pocket for an amount that I was not aware of. Hello! That's what your job is as a receptionist! She bothered me and my mother multiple times, calling us constantly, leaving us voicemails saying that we needed to call them right away re: our bill. When trying to explain what I understood about my insurance, the ONE receptionist became very frustrated and began to raise her voice, in a condescending way, asking if I even knew what insurance is and how it works. And of course I knew my rights and my coverage. Upon retorting this, she raised her voice and became upset and said she didn't want to deal with my case anymore and would not talk to me but instead wanted to talk to my mother. The receptionists for this office really need some re-training in REAL customer service. They need to be more professional and understanding of patients. If patients have a concern, they need to listen instead of arguing back and be condescending. It is very rude and unrespectful. I have told all my family and friends to avoid this office at all cost. Again no disrespect to the doctor, I cannot review her personally. And also learn to do there job, which includes notifying a patient if there is something wrong with their insurance instead of taking in the patient only for them to be billed afterwards.
