Terrible service..... I came here in June 2018 and immediately loved April and her service! She WAS great, treated me wonderfully! However, To the point that I have a daughter that I made a few appt. for SATURDAYS EARLY. She recently said she accepts Saturday appt., My daughter is in 8 th grade and had a dance on the 18th. I made an appt for May 3 to get my 12 & 14 yo hair cut &colored. I arrive and she is rearranging her loft so we wait 45 min while she does this......she finally comes and gets us.......and while my girl is in the chair, I offer to help her re-stock her shelves...because we are "friends". Then some one comes in and needed a full color, cut blowout. WTF? So my daughter at the end 1) didn't get a hair cut 2) did not receive the color she wanted 3) did not get a blow out. but guess what? I PAID in advance for the haircut...... April then cancelled two, yes two, subsequent appointments and did so via TEXT MESSAGE, so there we are, paid hair cut that never happened....no color correction,and now I have to reschedule the whole appt for my girl's dance. VERY unprofessional...... Well, she obviously all of a sudden had her friends post good reviews to offset mine....earlier today she said she would refund the haircut, but since I called her unprofessional she will not. Also if I don't take down a bad review she will not correct the color of my daughter's hair.....I can show the messages she has sent via yelp to prove it.....all in all, my daughter did not receive a service and she will not refund me....and she will not color correct her hair unless I take the negative review down. Also she said to me once that if you don't tip 30%,then you aren't a true client.... Oh, and she has reviewed her own hair salon! Imagine that! read more

Finally, someone who understands what I want and executes exceptionally! I looked for 2 years after my hair stylist of 18 years moved. I found April after researching stylists at Salon Lofts and really liked the description of the services she specializes in. I scheduled the appointment for 5:30pm (or so I thought) and showed up. Turns out, I didn't schedule it right. She was leaving for the day when I got there. Instead of asking me to reschedule, she called her partner and arranged to stay and help me. Well... she's horrible she gave me chunky orange highlights. I went to her on a whim bc her reviews were good but I regret it. She was rushing the whole service and didn't let the bleach sit for long enough. I even asked for a shadow root and she didn't do that. I messaged her to try to resolve this and she blocked me. April Carothers is a very shady and unprofessional stylist. Be careful she'll offer deals and discounts to get you to keep coming but may not follow through! December 2020, I met April for my 1st service. After looking at my hair, she recommended a cut to even out my hair and a keratin treatment deal as a BOGO for $200. My goal was to lighten my hair, but the treatment was recommended to help repair my hair. I listened and trusted her advice. I appreciated the keratin treatment and wanted to know when I should book the 2nd one. She stated about 6-8weeks later. January 2021, I booked a coloring appointment to lighten my hair. April recommended to do one color (my natural color) before lightening since I had different colors in my hair. April described it like "working on a blank canvas for a painter". I appreciated her advice and just had it done with my natural color. I asked when should I book the next appointment for the lightening, she stated about 6-8 weeks. At that time, April told me she was closing her loft and rooming in with another stylist. She stated that she will only be at the Westchase on Monday's. One week later, the color did not hold well on my grays. I came to see April at the new salon loft she moved into. When I showed up, April was sitting in the sm chair and the stylist she roomed in with was taking out her hair extensions. 30 ministers later, I was able to get the recoloring service. I did not tip since it was a redo and I had to wait 30 minutes. That's probably when things might have turned for the worst. March 2021, I booked my coloring appointment. April cancelled the day before due to COVID contact and test results. Totally understood and rebooked appointment on April 12th. Remember now she's only in Westchase on Mondays. April 12th, April cancelled this appointment on the morning of! No explanation, just a recommendation to go see another hair stylist. Texted her but never responded. I was concerned since I did not receive the 2nd keratin treatment that I already paid for. I booked my final appointment on April 18th at her St Petersburg location. Arrived and no one was there. She never responded to my text messages nor phone calls. I used my husbands number to call her and she miraculously answered. I asked if this is April, and she says yes who is this, I told her who it was and that I'm outside the salon in St Petersburg. She said she had to cancel all if her appointments this weekend due to her blah blah blah bs. She said she never received any of my text messages - however communication was never an issue before. April offered a free service for the next appointment but I told her that I was done with her and would like to receive a $100 refund for the paid keratin service she did not provide. She agreed and I gave her my Venmo. Thankfully, April sent the Venmo and responded with a message that did not pertain to the reason why she was refunding me. Hope this review was helpful! I will no longer do business with this stylist. April - it won't be necessary to respond to this review with your fake apologies nor sincere hope that I find my "forever stylist". I truly hope you will be considerate of your future clients' time and communication. read more

I've never had a stylist tell me to call her if I want something fixed after I get home and wash and style it myself. I use her for haircut only as I don't do any color but she still treats me like I'm a client who gets a lot of services from her. I also like how easy it is to make an appointment with her. I do it online and can see all of her availability. I had a stylist I loved for many years but it became to difficult to schedule with her as she cut back her hours and I'm a busy working mom.
