Terrible experience. Stopped by on a Saturday and was the only customer in the store. Four employees were standing around the cashier in the front talking. A gentleman there finally asked if we needed help. Kelsie was chosen to help us. She immediately seemed very irritated by being interrupted. She would only answer our questions with a short answers. She had major attitude and a tone of annoyance in her voice with facial expressions to go with it . Never offered any real help or guidance, and was not interested in selling anything offered on this store. So disappointed because we drove 45mins to get there. I ran to this store because it was closest to where my car was broken down on a trip through Yucca valley. I needed a really specific size of metal pipe, and at first I thought I might not find it at this place. I showed one of the employees (I forget his name) what diameter I needed, and we walked around the store together trying different options and seeing what works best. He also suggested I buy different sizes and that he'd just let me return what I don't use. I was super appreciative of his help, I don't know much about cars and provided him with little information. Well stocked for most things you would look for at a large chain hardware store but without the expanse and difficulty of finding what you are looking for and there is always a member of staff on hand to point you in the right direction. Nice enough people to deal with, but the follow-up with customers SUCKS! 2 times now I have requested information for which the Sales/Service People take my name and number and information about the item in question. Both times, I fail to be called with the answers. Although I'd prefer to use the smaller stores to make purchases and support the local economy, if they can't even call me with an update, or answer that they say they will get, I'll stick to the Big Box Stores where I have a wider selection and plenty of people and online resources to work with read more

I came into the store recently to buy tools and materials for a project I was doing on my land in north JT. A gentleman named Rick went out of his way to ask if I needed help finding anything. I pulled out a long list containing everything I needed for the project. For the next 20 minutes Rick not only went up and down the aisles with me and recommended which products would serve best for each specific task, he also directed me to youtube videos that related to what I was doing. Being a builder himself he possessed the know how and ability to articulate that gave me the confidence to build my first structure with little help. Prices were reasonable, they also deliver. Okay, I own several rental homes and vacation homes and I love having Builders supply as an option to buy materials for repairs or other household goods. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and they are far the fast key maker in town. I've bought paint, plumbing fixtures, cleaning supplies and gardening supplies here and I have to say that the only thing wrong with this place is the fact it closes at 5:30 pm. I wish they stayed open a little longer in the afternoons because even 30 minutes makes a difference when I'm dealing with a repair that has to be dealt with right NOW. I'D much rather keep my money local and give it to nice people whenever possible. I just wish it were open longer in the day! read more

Update from my last review - Doug the store manager of the Palm Springs and Yucca Valley branches got in touch a few weeks after my review to discuss the issues I brought up in my original review. He was understanding and considerate about the criticism which I appreciated. He basically just wanted to know what happened so he could fix the issues. Since then I put a small request in for some special order items and true to his word he dealt with everything and made it a straight forward process. As it should be. So I wanted to update my review to be fair to them as it seems Doug deeply cares about this place and was super bummed that his customers were unhappy. I frequented builders supply for years never an issue. Today I went in to do it best at 2:50pm not knowing it closes at 3 pm? No one was in the store to ask for help I went outside they were closing doors I asked an employee if they catried fireplace bricks.he didn't know what I wanted his coworker said inside. I went back in saw no one and saw no bricks (I needed 3 to finish a yard project ) finally an employee in the front bringing in wheel barrow's from outside. I asked him if he knew if they carried fireplace bricks. He said he had no idea. Home Depot here I come, never again will I go to that store.
