I first called and spoke to lovely Anna and she told me it was possible but to come in so their jeweler can take a look at it first. Mind. Freaking. Blown. They did a magnificent job of setting my diamonds into my new setting but they were also very impressed by the craftsmanship of my custom ring setting. Because it was an emergency situation, I was ready to pay over $1K for this service but the bill was not even close to that number. I had brought along with me my Rolex Submariner watch, which I had purchased about twenty years ago and now rarely wore because the gold and stainless band was not really my style anymore. My intention was to trade it in/up for another, less flashy Rolex. As I walked into Anter Jewelry I was immediately impressed by their sizable selection of upscale watches. There, I spotted a late model Rolex Batman. Although, I liked their Batman, I wanted to shop it on 47th St., as there were so many watch sellers to shop and compare similarly from. Ultimately, I was led back to Anter Jewelry. Both Mike and Sam (the owner), at Anter were very helpful and pleasant to work with. In addition to pricing their Rolex Batman very competitively, they offered me a handsome trade-in price for my submariner. They also offered me a fair price for an Omega Seamaster, which I had at home and was no longer wearing any longer. With very little haggling over the final price of the Rolex Batman, we ultimately made a deal. They provided me with a prepaid shipping label to ship them my Omega. I gave them my Submariner for the trade, and they provided me with ample documentation that supported our transaction. When I returned home to California, I shipped them my Omega, in the box it originally came in. A few days later, my Rolex Batman arrived from Anter Jewelry. My experience at Anter was a pleasant one. I placed a lot of trust in Anter Jewelry, and they rose to the occasion. They treated me fairly and executed our transaction as promised. I would recommend Anter Jewelry and would do business with them again. As a side note, based on the documentation that was provided with the Rolex Batman, I was able to trace the origins of the watch. I brought in 42g of 14K, 5g of 18K, and 17g of 24K gold, plus two small diamond rings. Based on the day's gold price (around $4,130/oz), my melt estimate for the gold alone was about $6,075. Their offer was $5,650 total, including the diamond rings -- not great, but acceptable, so I agreed. Then the son said his father needed to "confirm" the price. The father came out, lowered the offer to $5,100 without explanation, and accused me of trying to rip them off, even though we had already agreed on $5,650. He raised his voice and dismissed the prior agreement entirely. It felt like an old-school pressure tactic -- bringing in an "authority figure" to undermine the deal and make the customer doubt themselves. I walked out, and they later called me back, which says a lot. The fact that they have so many good reviews makes me think they treat people differently depending on who they think they can take advantage of...
