I'm a TOTAL novice at using caterers and probably asked quite stupid questions. I certainly needed a lot of hand-holding along the way. I found them more responsive by phone and text communication than by email. Regardless, they adjusted our order to exactly what I wanted and we only had 25 people in attendance. I was hoping they'd be able to set up in our backyard, but the cart couldn't fit through our gate, so driveway it was. They made it look so nice and official that some of our neighbors came by, wanting to buy tacos! The smells wafting around the neighborhood were great. We had a lot of kids in attendance and so they made quesadillas an option. My younger daughter loved the horchata especially. ;) My very favorite items turned out to be the beans and the freshly made (on site) tortillas. I mean, who does that?! It was awesome. My only complaints (and please notice that they're insufficient to knock off even a single star) is that I'm very picky about any gristle or excess "texture" in my meats ... and the carne asada had some of that. That wasn't to my taste. But my guests seemed entirely pleased. Oh, and we added cooked veggies to our order to accommodate for vegetarians and I didn't think they were well-seasoned enough. Still, the salsas, cilantros, and guac could compensate for that. I hope we get to work with Maria and her team again. They helped me package up leftovers and we have TONS remaining. Wow. This evening was a very good experience, mostly. Let's get the less than positive out of the way. We made reservations for 5PM. We were out and about and got there about a half an hour early. Walk in, spoke with the hostess and explained we knew we were early. (By the way, there were very few people in the restaurant at the time). The Hostess, an older female with longish greying hair, huffed then showed us to a table. She at least took us to an outside table as we requested. She never identified herself. And honestly we felt as if we were bothering her. Ok, enough of that. Now the positive. Our server was Taylor. This young man was awesome. He was upbeat and personable. Very pleasant and wanted to communicate, not just serve us. My wife and I asked for water, and ordered an appetizer of their Mac and Cheese balls. They were awesome. Hot, fresh, stuffed with pasta and warm flavorful cheese. Next we ordered cocktails. My wife ordered a Painkiller. Me an Old Fashion. Taylor recommended I try their version, New Fashion. Made with their mix of a house Bourbon. Man it was good. And the Painkiller? Let's just saw I held my wife hand, and guided her to our vehicle. For our main courses, my wife had the chicken and sausage pasta. I had the Bison Ribeye. Both we would order again without hesitation. The pasta dish was huge. With two breasts and numerous pieces of sausage. Over Fettuccini style pasta, with a lite and flavorful red sauce. It tasted fresh, and rich. She could only eat about a third of it. The rest came home. I ordered my Bison medium rare. The Chef hit it perfectly. Beautiful red meat in the center, nice and warm. So much flavor, and tender. With it I had the potato of the day. They were mashed with the skin. Full of butter, milk, and seasoned. In addition I had a side of creamed spinach. Very rich and deep. The cream tasted similar to a cheese sauce. So good. I brought nothing home. Finished the entire meal there. In addition, because it was our anniversary, the gave us a very nice card. And a piece of cake for dessert. Champaign was offered, but neither of us drink it, and didn't want to waste it. If you haven't tried Crooked Oak Tavern, you are missing a very nice experience.

I didn't want to take a whole table as I was just there for a cocktail. Joanne suggested one of the leather lounge chairs & got me settled. She made me feel very comfortable. I'm old school enough that as a woman I felt awkward being in an unfamiliar town in a bar full of strangers. Joanne reassured me & checked on me throughout the evening. I had a fabulous Old Fashion, enjoyed the multiple TV's & ended up conversing & laughing with a whole family who were also visiting. I initially heard of these guys through one of my buddies that hired them to cook for their team meeting. I heard such great things that I picked up the phone and gave those guys a call to cook for one of our family gatherings. Geoff, hands down, cooked the best chicken I've ever eaten in my life. The leg quarter had so much moister that I wish I had a piece to eat while writing this review. In addition, he added a few ribs on the side. Whenever we would correspond via email, the responses we received were not clear and did not answer our questions. I was told that they do not typically send the contract until the initial 25% deposit has been made... but why would anybody make a deposit without reviewing the contract first? Made no sense to me. In an attempt to finalize the menu so I could submit the final payment, I reached out to the company three weeks before the wedding because I had not heard from them. I was then told they could not get any crabmeat for months due to the shortage. . . The crab meat shortage was not in their control, but if they had known for months that it would be difficult to source crab, they should have reached out to notify me so I could make menu changes accordingly. Crab was in one of our entrees and our appetizer. They were able to accommodate a last minute change when we decided to add desserts, so we appreciate their flexibility on that! We went with mini cheesecakes, cannolis, chocolate covered strawberries, and mini cookies. All were delicious! Three days before our event is when I finally received our finalized menu and the menu was INCORRECT. I had been asking for this menu for weeks and when they finally submitted it to me, it was incorrect. Luckily, it was able to be fixed and the menu was correct in the end. I was told by someone in the office that they had tried contacting me by phone the week before to finalize the menu . . . I had no missed calls or voicemails or email correspondence from them at all. Despite the difficult correspondence, the wedding catering service, could not have gone more smoothly. The caterers arrived on time and were very kind and professional. The food was delicious, the buffalo cauliflower bites were a hit! We also went with the chicken at the ritz, flat iron steaks, and vegan mushroom ragout over polenta for our buffet entrees. We got many compliments on the food! If it weren't for the way things were handled prior to the wedding, I would give them 5 stars for their service. However, the lack of communication throughout the entire process was a total disappointment.
