Horrible customer service and employees, well the employees and supervisor I came in contact with. Re-training is essential, with customer service skills! They offer no hand sanitizer, but have the nerves to take you temperature, and ask all kind of Covid-19 questions upon entering. The greeter representative, is touching all kinds of papers, people, places and things. They do not were gloves, nor clean the chairs after each use. Long lines, grumpy people, grumpy DMV employees, dingy building and facilities, its drudgery spending any time there! However, Seaside DMV is an exception in that the staff here has been consistently great! Generally, even under the worst of busy conditions, they manage to stay friendly. Every time I've had to do business here I've never spent more than a couple of hours even without an appointment. Where to begin? I was faced with the daunting task of renewing my CDL. I needed a Real ID and take the Hazmat test. I was prepared for the worst but experienced the best!! Arrived at 8am, no line. People were processed very very quickly and professionally. The young lady who processed my info was so so friendly and so very professional. I felt at ease the whole time. I was given accurate information about what to do and the employees helped make my visit an absolute success!! Thank you everyone there for making my expected stressful situation non-stressful. I have been to many dmv locations including Hawaii and the Bay Area. This is by far the WORST experience. The wait times are usually not too bad which is why I started to come out here. I shipped my car from Hawaii to Ca and came here for my registration and had a pleasant experience. When I came here to renew my registration, all of a sudden they tell me my registration was not completed? They made me go all the way through the Hawaii dmv to get my old registration which they had taken from me. I come back to the dmv and they tell me I needed to bring all this paperwork which I was not told the last time? They are so inconsistent with their work and the lady even had the nerve to tell me "sorry the girl that helped you was new." I do not think that is a valid excuse for any mistakes. I would give a zero (or even negative numbers) if I could. The driving examiner was Lynda. There is no other way to say this-she MUST not be allowed contact with any customers every again. She was far beyond rude to my daughter during her test-she was emotionally and verbally ABUSIVE. My daughter passed her exam yet she was sobbing when she arrived back at the DMV from her road test. The woman was yelling at her almost from the start, aggressively correcting her for what she THOUGHT my daughter was going to do, not what my daughter did. Lynda is the WORST customer interface I have ever seen bar none. Judging from the complaints online, I am not the first to complain about Lynda. The DMV MUST remove her from any contact with customers IMMEDIATELY. Not only is she a very bad representative of the DMV, she is also potentially a danger to drivers on the road-her abusiveness will rattle any young driver (as it did my daughter) and could potentially cause an accident. read more

Couldn't go in early this time so made an appt. for the afternoon, arrived early and one one person checking in the appt. and the non appt line. BONNIE what an AWFUL little girl to deal with. Horrible customer service, horrible communication skills and horrible problem solving skills. She wants it her way or no way even when she's PROVENLY wrong. The only way my husband was able to get her to do what he needed was to call customer service ask them about this same policy who they then told him she was incorrect as well and had him pull up information on the DMV website as proof. Only after he read aloud to her proving she was incorrect did she finally do her job while throwing a fit doing it. Ridiculous. read more

Not bad for not having an appointment. Wait time and being helped was a total of one hour not as painful as I thought. The queue counter is very organized, the lady knows her stuff and would direct us with clear instructions accordingly. Waiting area is not that big but their is ample seating for most. They only accept debit card and cash as a form of payment. read more

So I went today to register my car (CO plates). Oh and to get a duplicate license. Hmm... I lost mine 3 Thursdays ago, don't remember how or when and why. I just remember waking up in my car in a parking lot... Anyways, I felt like I was 16 again about to take my driving test, well nto really, I just watched about 3 to 5 teens pass theirs and a grumpy old man fail his. He kept demanding a retake and was cussing up a storm. Poor guy. No but I was worried about getting a photo taken, I kept playing with my hair like I was in the 7th grade all over again. Luckily, they didn't take mine again. My dumbass felt bad for lying about my weight so I modified it, of course still 25lbs lower that what I currently weigh but still 40 lbs more than I would like to weigh. (I must had self image problems still.) I was stoked to see that everyone that I worked with at that department was super patient. They have to be (or huge pot smokers), the "starting" line almost went out the door! The gentlemen I spoke with and who did my paperwork was awesome and made my visit painless although it took over and hour and half to get everything done (even though I made an appointment online), I guess that is pretty fast for a DMV. read more

I have an appointment and still have to draw a number and wait like a Russian waiting for toilet paper. Any business in America would hire better people and develop better systems to accommodate their customers except those that have a monopoly on their market. We have no choice but to come here so they do nothing to make it easier. I'm from the Bay Area and the only DMV I've ever gone to has been the one in Fremont and every single time I have to go there I hate it. Always huge lines and employees that give attitude. This DMV was the total opposite. I made an appointment on a weekday at 2pm and when I showed up there wasn't even a line. So even without an appointment I would've been ok. Employees weren't super friendly but they certainly didn't give any attitude and to me that's good enough. I was in and out in about an hour and a half. The DMV sends me a letter to tell me that my next drivers license renewal requires a new photo and thumb print - I can see the photo part, I look a lot older than when I arrived in the "new world" and had to retake the driving and motorcycle tests ('cos the way more rigorous UK tests obviously didn't equip me to drive out here - a whole other story we won't go into here), but thumb print - do they age? Anyway, previous experience has told me that an appointment makes DMV experiences more pleasant. So, an appointment is made. I turn up about 5 mins before the appointment is due, the parking lot is half empty. I enter the DMV and quickly find the "start here" banner, sign in and get my number. There are probably 30-40 people sitting waiting for their numbers to be called. I sit at the back and wait - I'm the second number called. I sign a couple of pieces of paper, hand over cash (the guy behind the counter seemed genuinely surprised I had the right amount of cash), enunciate 'Q', 'B', 'N' etc. a few times in different orders, have my photo and thumb print taken. I'm in and out within 10 minutes (I suspect everyone else sitting waiting without appointments were giving me the evil eye, I took the high road and didn't make eye contact as I left). So, why not five stars? Well, I got my license in the mail; holy crap, even with all that modern technology the photo on my license still makes me look like crap - I'm sure it's a conspiracy. read more

My experience with them was quick and painless, I went in to get a Ca id card. The line was not long and my total wait time was probably 20 minutes. They do not take credit card payments so make sure you have cash with you. The lady that assisted me was very pleasant. My experience at this DMV was pleasant, I am used to waiting hours at the DMV in Arizona; the this experience was a good one. I may change my rating after I go in and get my Drivers License and register my vehicles. Hopefully that experience will also be a good one. read more

I was at the Seaside DMV today.I needed the new Real ID.I tried to make an appointment on line but was told Seaside did not renew licenses. Well,knowing this was impossible, I drove over and was prepared to wait a couple of hours.Wrong.The young lady at the check in desk was very helpful.She gave me my number and told me to wait until I was called.Forty minutes later I was called and got another kind DMV worker.I was told to go take my picture and come right back.I did and 10 minutes later I was on my way home with my new document .One hour is not bad at the DMV in my book.Seaside DMV rocks. read more

Gone are the days when I'd don a suit of armor before entering the halls of DMV (at the time, Modesto, CA). Now I live on the coast where everything is better...including DMV! You people who work at DMV in Seaside are simply awesome. Nice! Friendly! Efficient! Amazing! Did I say nice??? Staff here works painfully slow. There was even an older lady, probably about 90 years old who fell and they still made her wait in line.

I've been here at least 4 times in the last 5 years and always had friendly service and today was no differnt. Got my Real ID this morning with an appointment and it was pretty painless. People give the DMV a ton of crap for being slow and completely infuriating but I had the COMPLETE opposite experience today. I had an appointment at 1:20PM to get my California Real ID and was in and out within thirty minutes. My process was expedited because I had filled out the paperwork online prior to going in. This place is the zenith of inefficiency. My favorite is the DMV worker stationed OUTSIDE preventing you from even attempting to set foot inside unless they give you an initial wait before the grand wait. 3 hrs here, and still counting ....just to get a tow behind camper registered with all of my paperwork properly filled out in hand of course. I believe their motto is: We aim to torture you by waiting so you will eventually leave and never come back. Requested my place in the cue and receptionist only responded with "it's a long wait". It's so horrible it's actually funny. Just give me some license plates! HA! No seating available of course so you better be prepared for some marathon standing. Parking? Forget it. You're better off hitch hiking, walking or giving up driving in California altogether. This place makes the TSA security lines during thanksgiving look like well oiled machines. I had my husband go and pay our renewal for our vehicle when it came upon his time to pay he was turned down and said they don't except cash decides to leave. He then calls me I called the dmv which was told that we shouldn't be turned down because the do except cash And to ask for a a manager . I had my husband return for them to try to turn him down once again he asked for the manager which she was about to turn him down until he showed them on there website that they do except cash and they said they will make an exception this one time. Really! You have one job and can't even do it right. I don't understand! read more

What? A great experience at the DMV? YES. Trust me, I'm as surprised as you are, but it happened here to my parents. My mom and stepdad, both seniors, went to the Seaside DMV to get replacement registrations for their vehicles. The staff at this office could not have been kinder. One worker got my mother, who has Parkinsons, a chair so she could sit during the process, and another assisted my stepfather, whose vision isn't as good as it once was, in completing a form. Everyone was very friendly and patient, and did their best to assist all the customers in a timely manner. Thank you, Seaside DMV! read more

This is my second time here. The first time I had a great experience as well. I'm actually writing this review as I'm awaiting for my brother's arrival. I took my brother for his driving exam and his proctor, Daisy was awesome, hands down. My car actually died before the driving test had begun and she was so nice to tell us that if we got the car started, he can still take the test. We got our car started by a Good Samaritan and I can tell Daisy was genuinely happy that we did. She even reassured us that she will be right with us. Thank you, Daisy! This place is a cesspool. With the pandemic showing no end or remorse there are protocols I thought everyone and every business was supposed to enforce and implement. I was there for about two hours,which I expected. The building was packed. All seats taken and standing room only. I needed to fill out some things on the computer, which are not 6 feet apart. No one was wiping off or sanitizing anything. I saw multiple people using the computer, one after another, not once in the 2 hours I was there was it cleaned. When my number finally got called same thing again. I was offered the same pen that the guy ahead of me used. I used my own instead. I also had to do my thumbprint,also not wiped down. I recommend doing as much online as possible. We will never get this pandemic under control if people,businesses don't stick the the guidelines. read more

Absolutely incompetent and very disorganized. I would suggest to knock the building down and rebuild from scratch. The parking lot is not well kept and no EV parking for a government building. I brought my daughter in for her driver license road test and it was easily the best dmv experience I have ever had. Every person behind the counter was pleasant and friendly. My daughter's proctor, Daisy, was fantastic and really made her feel at ease. My daughter passed which was the icing on the cake. Thanks to all of your staff!
