This is a Review about my GREAT experience, and also about a BAD experience that i observe someone else had. So no bias here, just facts.
I made an appointment online. I arrived and they checked me in, I had all my proper documents, was in and out within 30 minutes, and the lady that helped me was very nice and calm.
Their TV's were all not working so the numbers being called were NOT DISPLAYED. Each person had to actively listen to their number being called over the speakers. There were numbers being called CONSTANTLY and the sound was not that loud. Im in my mid 30's, not deaf by any means, and even I had a hard time hearing the numbers over the speaker. It was very easy to not hear your number being called if you were just slightly distracted.
I overhead a family tell their father that his number was already called, and he clearly did not hear it and missed his call. He got up tried to speak with the woman directing walk-ins. I assumed they helped him.
When I went to my booth, I saw that he approached the booth next to me (booth 12). He handed his number to the teller and the teller scoffed at him and told him in the most condescending tone "I already called your number and you didnt come so now I called a different number and I'm waiting for that person." - She literally crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at him in disbelief (as if him missing his number offended her). He stood there patiently to see if the next number would come. She leaned over to my teller and said "Can you believe this guy, trying to come when he missed his number" - and my teller ignored her attempt to gossip about him right in front of him. The next number never came (probably didn't hear his number called either) and she annoyingly said "OK fine i'll help you, but i have to tell someone because what you did is not allowed." she proceeded to get up, walk to the cubical behind her and start gossiping with the teller there. We could clearly hear her complaining about the man that appeared late, and she was laughing so hard that she fell to her knees cackling. At that point, I felt sorry for the man and felt her behavior was unprofessional and flat out rude. After hiding out for 5 minutes she came back and rudely said "Give me your number" - he nervously handing all his paper work to her, and she shoved it back yelling "Just your number! not everything" Throughout her rudeness, the man remained calm. Finally, she came up with some excuse why she couldn't help him (I think he was given a new number, and she saw that) So she told him, "Well you missed your first number, and they gave you a new number, so you'll have to wait for your new number, you cant just show up late when your number is called- thats cheating" She scolded him like a child. He finally spoke up and calmly said "Thanks for your help, I've been waiting here for 45 minutes I wasn't trying to cheat" - and she shook her head at him in disapproval.
He was clearly older man, possibly foreign, and probably not familiar with the DMV process. The way she treated him was unacceptable to me. He ended up waiting again, because the teller had humiliated him.
I deeply regret not standing up for him, so all I can do is write this review and hope that teller #12 reads this.
I get that its stressful, there's a process. The TV's didn't work, which made it more chaotic - but treat people with respect and do not openly humiliate him with your coworkers read more
