My communications…read morewith them up until this point seemed very professional and straightforward, and I was in a panic when I discovered the asbestos issue, so I told them to go forward with abatement. I researched online and learned that abatement of mastic on hardwood floors can be done by scraping or sanding or other methods, and the guy who refinished my hardwood floors a couple years ago got it off of the floor and refinished the wood without issue, so I assumed this would be the case. When I came home, I was horrified when I realized they had cut out all of the hardwood boards out of my kitchen and removed them, instead of scraping and sanding the hardwoods. I'm now out $1800 AND I literally don't have a floor anymore. When I spoke to them over the phone, I was assured that removing the boards was the ONLY way to address the issue, which is simply untrue. I feel like an idiot for not researching other abatement companies, as it was a decision I made in panic. It's too late now, but now I'm researching and finding all of these other companies that offer abatement in Portland for hardwood flooring where the mastic can be removed. When I saw photos of other local companies work post-removal, I felt even more like an idiot. There was no need for me to lose my floors entirely in this process. This has been a nightmare. I was told this company specializes in abatement, but it seems they specialize in demolition, and ensure abatement in the process of said demolition. Unless you're looking to tear out a wall or a floor or cabinetry entirely, I would not recommend.

Naturally, I was filled with worry over all the things that could go wrong. I was determined to watch them carefully and make sure that they were not going to damage anything, like my floors, my patio, my skylights, etc. In a very short time I could tell that they were absolutely meticulous, not dropping the bricks but carrying them from the roof to the bin. Inside the house, they were just as careful, protecting the floors, etc. When they were done, they carefully cleaned everything. Then I decided they were the ones I wanted to rip out all the old cupboards and shelves from the garage. They fitted that small job in immediately and did just as good of a job. Then I learned that they do small construction jobs and I hired them to install a vinyl pre-fab garden shed. They showed up with all the materials and put down sand, gravel and a paver pad, leveled it, and put up the shed in a day. I have hired dozens on workers and construction crews over the years and when I find a good one, I like to let people know.
