Have used DJ's for several years and never had a problem. Scheduling, workmanship, and pricing all were reasonable. This year, however, was different. My Spring startup was subcontracted out. I'd thought the guy was over-tightening a PVC cap, but what do I know so I said nothing. It took us 5 days to realize that the noise we couldn't locate was the water gushing out of a cracked PVC cap; Yep, the same one. They did repair it the day after they were notified, but said that the cap breaking was not their fault and ignored the water lost. PVC caps don't just crack - my research discovered that overtightening threaded caps is the most common cause of cracks. A couple months later, I found that the same cap was leaking - how long it was like that I don't know. I shut the water off, notified DJ, and was told to contact the sub. I contacted the sub, but he never showed when scheduled, and neither DJ nor the sub has been reachable since. We've lost hundreds of $$$ in water bill costs over what they should have been. Maybe I'm wrong or I missed something, but DJs evidently refuses to communicate with us, so I don't know. Wouldn't they want to discuss it if they were confident that the problem wasn't one that they created? Seems to me a good business would want to address it - one way or whether it was their fault or not; either make good or explain why they are not at fault - DJs did nothing. Because I had turned the water off (again) after we found the 2nd leak - I used the sprinkler system exactly ONCE this year, and have kept it off to stop losing water - but now my lawn now looks like . . . . . read more

Due to exceptional service after 1st review, have changed my review about this company after one bad experience.

I'm sorry now I ever went with this company. They'll make an appointment with you to close or open your sprinkler system depending on the season but it's anyone' guess if they'll show up or not. Had an appointment today, between 2 and 5 pm, which I had to take 4 hours of leave off from work for. That they didn't show up for. At about 4:50pm I called the office and Don (that's the D in DJ) tells me rather non-chalantly, oh, here's the guys number call him and see if he's coming today. You might could catch him tomorrow. Oh tomorrow? THen why did I take leave today Don? People actually have jobs. The people that come out to close the system charge at least 100 bucks and they don't even want to get under the house and turn the water off. 100 bucks for 10 minutes worth of work. I'm surprised at the poor reviews. Hope I'm not disappointed later...but we've used them twice. Once after I receive a $700, YES $700 water bill from Stafford County!!! We had used another local and well known company but never cared for their service. Called up DJ's and gentlemen was straightforward and the owner price was right. Came and fixed for $80 AND THEN got my money back from STAFFORD CO water dept. apparently there was a leak around the sprinkler heads which the gentleman who had come out said he would show my husband how to fix in the future (umm...awesome). Then, we used them again to winterize our sprinkler system... in and out..:the guy came and started working before he even knocked on the front door! Was great, he even give me the military/law enforcement discount. Will definitely use in the future!! read more

I have used D J's since 2003! Never an issue. They put my system in and have maintained it ever since. Twice I have had system issues (no fault of theirs or the system) that resulted in water leaks and both times I received same day service. I have always had to leave a message when calling but always get a timely return call. Hey, they are out working! read more

DJ's installed the sprinkler system for the previous owners of our house, so I called them to turn the system on and move a couple of sprinkler heads this spring. They came out in a timely manner and did the work for what I considered to be a reasonable fee. Unfortunately, when moving one sprinkler head, the Verizon FIOS line was cut. Verizon replaced their line and managed to cut one sprinkler line. Don had someone out within a couple of days to repair the line. Very satisfied with their work. In fact, I have recommended them to my neighbors. read more

I highly recommend DJ's service for winterizing sprinkler systems. He came out last year on one day's notice right before a big freeze. His prices are reasonable. I always forget to winterize until it gets really cold and they always come and winterize in time. They always do a thorough job and they are knowledgeable. Thank you. read more

Horrible customer service!! Stay away!! I called for residential repair and the guy seemed okay. Told me once part came in they would return. I called them 3 weeks later, they claimed the part just came in! Then they didn't show up on Friday as scheduled, no call or text! They showed up a few days later pep laced some deals and charged $109.00. The system was still leaking! It was the beginning of winter so I shut it down, called them beginning of June and waited around on a Saturday. They failed to show up again! Avoid DJs sprinklers!!! read more

Best lawn sprinkler company period! Let me start by saying I called several sprinkler companies and none of them returned my call. We had a company that did my neighbor's yard and was going to use them due to a referral, but refused to call me back. We have 3 people in the neighborhood call them and got no callback. I called DJ L&S late one afternoon and they called me back the next morning. He said he would get someone out ASAP and Todd came out to do the survey 2 days later. Before the quote I was given the option to wait until winter for a lower price if I chose to. How many companies start off by trying to save you money? Not many. I knew at that point they were thinking about an ongoing partnership and not just taking my money. I couldn't be home for the quote but Todd and Jessica left it on my door. After I read the quote I thought about my options but had a few questions about what I was getting. I called the shop and Jason came out the next day and answered all my questions professionally. He was very knowledgeable and I could tell he was a part of the business for awhile. Afterwards, I found out he was the owner's son. You can tell he has institutionalize knowledge about lawn and sprinklers because he welcomed the questions. People that can't answer questions try to get you to stop with short answers. He did not do that. He gave thorough explanations and made sure I understood what he said. I agreed to do the sprinkler install on the spot because of how he answered my questions and they called Ms. Utility and my yard was marked 3 days later and they started the install a day later. Jason, Todd, and Jessica came out to do the yard. I have .71 acre but I was getting the front and sides of my yard done because I still had work to do on the back. The install took 2 days. They did their best to not disturb the grade of my lawn and put bad any sod that was removed. I had a friend come over that wanted a quote and he asked them several questions and they answered them all and continued to work while doing it. He eventually had them do a quote after my yard was done. Jason, Todd, and Jessica was great to talk to through the entire install. They enjoyed what they did and worked very well together. Jessica has been there the shortest time but she worked just as hard and you wouldn't know she was the rookie of the bunch. She would put most guys to shame how hard she worked. I was impressed. Todd drove the trencher through my yard and made sure he didn't hit my new gate. I was watching lol. He told me the best place to put my rain sensor for the most effective use. They all had a positive attitude through the project and with the rocky yard that I got, it is easy no easy tasks. Whatever they told me I was going to get upfront, I got it. They made sure everything was installed well and it was neat and they thoroughly explained to me how the system worked. I have a Rainbird system with Wifi and the rain sensor and it all works flawless. They made sure I know how to work it before they left. They cleaned up the area as well. All in all I was highly impressed and I have already referred them to 6 people in my community. I am calling them as soon as I finish my back yard to get the sprinklers installed. Like I said before.
