Inflation strikes again! The admission ticket is $20 (There are VIP admission tickets for…read more$100...are people really buying these?) If you didn't buy tickets in advance...you will kick yourself because it's $30 at the entrance. I went today (my first time) with a coworker and we had fun. She pointed out in prior years, they had many more vendors to buy from. I ate (split the cost/food with a coworker to keep our cost down): BBQ oysters, calamari/catfish/french fries, BBQ ribs/greens, pinot grigio (only Dale Vino sold alcohol...their Villa Sandi(?) pinot was so good! And, I'm not even a fan of white wine!). There wasn't anything that I ate that tasted bad. So, that was a bonus! It's crazy difficult to find a vendor that sold bottled water. On a hot day like today in Pittsburg, why didn't anyone think of selling water? Missed opportunity for sure. I will say one of the vendors by the entrance sold water bottles. Everyone else sold lemonade, slushies, etc. What is that going to do to keep me hydrated?

WTH!! Come on now! I know pittsburg can do way better than this! I have been to over 20 seafood…read morefestivals in pittburg over the years, and this is by far the worst! There were only a few vendors who actually sold seafood. And what happened to it being by the water! Hamburgers, hotdogs, French fries, tacos, chicken wings, chicken stips, etc. DOESN'T BELONG IN A SEAFOOD FESTIVAL! If I wanted foodie land, I would have gone there instead! And what was with that extra little gate yall had inside where I had to pay an extra 14.00 after I had already paid 15.00 to get in. No, No, No and another NO! Sorry I won't be back! My tradition is totally over!

I've lived in CCC all my life, but only heard they held a fair this year. The fair lasts for 4…read moredays. We decided to check it out and tickets were $12 for adults. Honestly, this fair is only worth it if you live close by, but not worth it drive out to. We are used to going to the Alameda County Fair, so in comparison, this is a very small venue. Everything is on a much smaller scale so there aren't as many rides, games, and vendors. We arrived before the gates opened and there was a queue forming in front of the gate, but once they started letting people in, there was no line/ crowd control and it was chaotic. Funnily, rather than security, the person who was hired as a clown was the only one doing crowd control and directing people where to go. He was great. There were some interesting and unique parts about this fair like camel rides, a sea lion show, and free roller skating in the roller rink.

Said prices online were a 20 for adults, 15 for kids for destruction derby, but they make you pay…read morefor tickets to get into the fair first, which are 12 kids and adults, and another 10 per person to get into the track part. 2 and 7 extra a ticket doesnt sound today bad until you bring 10+ people like we did, mostly kids, so get screwed on tickets, since we arent even doing anything in the fair. We ended up paying an additional 71 dollars, and not a single guard or worker had any idea about it. We asked 6 different people in just the parking lit and got a different answer every time. Not one answer was right.

Kind of a boring saturday afternoon... I tell the kids "shoes & socks, we'll hit Todos Santos, I'll…read moreget a Peets, you two can hit the play structure, win win." They were thrilled. We drive up and there's tent after tent, a band playing, rides for the kids! I had no idea it was Concord's Oktoberfest. Bands included: the Volker Strifler Band, The Squeegees, and The Red Hot Chachkas. I'm sure there were more in the lineup throughout the day. There was a polka costume parade and polka lessons! You could buy a pass and sample seven different beers from local microbreweries. But the very best thing about Concord's Oktoberfest was Cyclecide. The first ride I saw looked like it might be the first ever merry-go-round. But after talking to the Cyclecide guy managing the line, their rides are all one-of-a-kind, made from salvaged parts, powered by pedaling. Awesome. This is a good description of Cyclecide, taken from their website: "Cyclecide is a touring freak show that showcases muscle-powered contraptions welded together from bits of bikes salvaged from junk heaps, scaffolding, and car parts. FAULT LINES SPRING 2007" Another good description: "... here is the basic recipe: rent Mad Max and Pee Wee's Big Adventure, toss them in a nuclear reactor together, and watch the ensuing mutant merriment"... Boise Weekly Sept. 2004 My kids did three of their rides, two of which were merry-go-round-ish. One pedal-powered by whoever brought the kids there, the other powered by the kids themselves. The third was a solo-ride. You sat on a tiny bike seat contraption about 4 inches from the ground, pedaled, and spun 'round like mad. My kids didn't get it going very fast, but had a blast nonetheless. The older set who did this ride (clearly aiming to increase their already apparent buzz) pedaled so hard and spun so fast that the thing kind of crept around on the grass. Every single one of them got up and nearly fell over from dizziness. They were fun to watch. My pics to be posted soon, but until then, visit their site: www.cyclecide.com Yay Concord for bringing this to Todos Santos.
