We hired x-pert productions for our wedding at Oak Alley Plantation last year. We were so…read moredisappointed. To their credit, they offered us $125 out of almost $500 back. Here's what happened: The DJ showed up on time and set up. All was well until it came time for the bridal march. My father and I waited and waited for "At Last" to come on so the doors could be opened and we could walk down the aisle. Instead, another song was on loop. One of the Oak Alley employees ran out to the DJ stand to see what was going on. THE DJ WASNT THERE. A second employee discovered him further off in the trees, watching the wedding (?!). The DJ came to me later and said he was waiting for a signal from the OAP event coordinator. She later told me that she had explained to him that we would go off of him playing the song. Many guests later asked me "what happened," thinking perhaps this had been a runaway bride situation. When I arrived at the altar, my elderly officiant didn't have a working microphone. He whispered to me that it didn't work, so we would have to project our voices. I wanted to SCREAM. When it came time for the music, the DJ played two of our "must play" songs. My husband and I had spent weeks collaborating to fill the spreadsheet of "must play" and "play if time." To this day we hear one of our must play songs and say, "THIS was one of the songs I chose!" When it came time for my husband to dance with his grandma, she had trouble getting up and kept waving him off, the DJ started and stopped the music. It sounded like a CD skipping. This was partially our fault, how could he have known Grandma B wouldn't be up for it...just wish the DJ could have improvised a little better, put something else on, maybe. Also, his speaking voice left something to be desired. I guess I expected more of a show man. We did ask that the DJ speak very little to avoid the classic "wedding singer" type sound in our antebellum setting. My family spent tens of thousands of dollars on this wedding. I wish we had spent a little more and found a better DJ. Never did find out his name, he never introduced himself. He was a polite young man, dressed in a suit or tux or some kind. I feel bad for him and angry at the same time, if that makes sense. When you spend over a year planning something, you want it to be perfect. It looms large in my memory, and one piece that really sticks in my craw is this dang DJ.

The first thing I noticed at our event was that one of the speakers seemed to be crackling in and out. It was the very first thing I noticed upon our introduction and I commented on this to the DJ prior to our first dance. Later in the evening I noticed that the speaker that had been crackling had been turned down, apparently to quell whatever the problem was. Additionally we were fairly dissatisfied with the energy level of the DJ. We had requested a medium energy DJ and felt ours was more low energy. He was very nice individual, he just seemed lower energy than we had expected. I emailed X-pert DJ on April 23rd (upon return from our honeymoon) commenting on the speaker problem and briefly recommending that the DJ be perhaps classified as a low energy DJ rather than medium level. I received no word from X-Pert DJ regarding my email until May 3rd. In this email the owner stated that he had checked the system and could not duplicate the problem. He did not say the problem didn't happen, but that he could not duplicate it. He went on to state that I never informed the DJ of the speaker problem even though, as I stated earlier, I had. And in response to the DJ he stated that the DJ claimed everyone was inside most of the night so he was unable to get people to dance. This first email was professional and polite. I responded again to X-Pert DJ, again stating that just because a problem could not be duplicated does not mean it didn't happen and that for a DJ company to have used what was in my opinion faulty equipment was a fairly egregious problem. Additionally, I commented on how the DJ, in my opinion, was not being truthful. It was not possible for most of the guests to be inside all night. The inside room at Shaw is but a small room with only 12 seats in it and outside we had the remaining 92 seats. Additionally, the weather outside was beautiful and the food and beverages were outside as well. It was very frustrating to feel as if the only company representative at our event was not accurately representing the true nature of our reception. 13 days went by and X-Pert DJ had still not responded to my follow up email. I sent another note requesting a response and another week went by. I sent an additional note stating that if we couldn't get this resolved I would have to post a negative review so that others could avoid the treatment we feel we received. 3 weeks had gone by since my email and after this much time, it appeared to me as if X-pert DJ was not concerned with responding to their customer's on-going issue. Finally, on May 26th, X-pert DJ responded and said that the previous emails never made it to him. Perhaps that is the case, but he had not had a problem receiving any emails I sent when originally booking his company, nor had he had a problem receiving any emails sent in the months before the event. However, I asked the owner of X-pert DJ to trust my statements as truth and so I must trust his as well. His email went on to accuse me of fraudulently booking his company with the intent of creating false accusations after the event in hopes of getting money back. It is my opinion that this is not a proper way to treat your customers. He then informed me that he had copied his lawyers on our correspondence. X-pert DJ even went so far as to track down photos from our wedding that showed people dancing as proof that we had fun and therefore they had done their job correctly. If I were to do it all over again I would use a different DJ, one whom would be promptly responsive from start to finish and who would treat his customers, regardless of whether he believed their claims or not, with respect and professional courtesy. This review is just my opinion but at our event and in the weeks after we feel we were not provided a good product nor were our concerns addressed/resolved in a timely, professional manner.
