Unforgettable and Unmatched…read more We booked the Nola Dukes Band to perform at our daughter's wedding and WOW, they delivered! We went with the 9-piece band, and it was hands-down one of the best decisions we made. From starting with cocktail music that set the perfect mood to dance-floor-packing sets, they kept the party alive for the full four-hour celebration. Guests are still raving about the band! The entire experience from booking to the 2nd line that closed out the party was flawless. Randi's professionalism and talent is only overshadowed by her stage presence! The genuine joy they brought to our special day exceeded every expectation. If you're planning a wedding, a party, or any celebration where music matters, the Nola Dukes Band should be your geaux to! The don't just play music, they create an immersive experience. Thank you, Nola Dukes, for making our night unforgettable!

I hired NolaDukes for my wedding back in November. Sadly I am not sure this review will stay up as…read morethey have taken down all my other reviews and I have seen others complain about this as well. I write this review to warn others who are passionate about their music at their wedding. First off, I give them 2 stars because the musicians are quality! They provided high energy and sounded good. My guests were dancing and that was great. My complaint is that my husband and I worked on our wedding playlist and set list for HOURS leading up to our wedding. Both sides of our family are big music people and we DID NOT WANT TOP 40!! Not only did we document this request but we also said it in meetings multiple times. I should have known when Bryant, the man we met with coordinating things for us, mixed us up with another couple but I thought with the amount of documentation we would be okay for the day. I was wrong. The band played a generic wedding set list and DID NOT use our band break playlist that we spent so much time curating. They advertised as a customizable wedding band but in reality they are not. After I left a review about this and told them, they attempted to get all reviews down, tried calling me about this on my honeymoon, and even tried to blame my wedding planner for their mistake. It's really sad that they cannot take responsibility for when they have made a mistake. And again, if you like generic wedding band sound and want quality musicians, Nola Dukes is great but we came to New Orleans for a reason and we wanted classic NOLA music and great soul and funk sounds but we got top 40 pop... our least favorite. The wedding still turned out great and on the day my husband and i made the most out of it. I just write this hoping that I can spare other brides and grooms like us who music was one of the most important parts of our story and Nola Dukes completely dropped the ball and has continued to lack ownership for their fault.

When your guests tell you the best meal they ate in New Orleans was at your wedding, that's a major compliment. -Professional team. All the caterers, waitstaff, rental team, etc were on time and very well trained. -Fun to work with. Glenn had a great vision for our wedding from the get-go, and he and Anita were both onsite the day of the wedding to make sure everything ran smoothly. They also did our decor and table arrangements and everything was sophisticated and tasteful, no cheesy wedding decor to be found anywhere. Thank you Glenn and Anita for giving us the wedding we imagined. We will never forget it, and our guests won't either. You guys were outstanding vendors and we highly recommend your team.

In short, this team makes MAGIC, people! Brittani is the ultimate professional, providing guidance and advice from her deep level of experience in the industry and her lifelong familiarity with the local area. She brings calm and compassion to what could otherwise have been difficult to navigate situations (weather scares, last minute guest changes, family dynamics), essential for an out-of-town and sometimes anxious bride. She is supremely organized, timely and responsive, taking advantage of technology and her own flexibility to ensure communication is as convenient as possible. She is also an outstanding creative, designing layout, logistics and decor solutions to fit and exceed whatever initial vision you might have had. Most importantly, we felt cared for, listened to and prioritized as a couple, from our first conversation with Brittani through the end of our wedding night, despite the thousands of details she and her team were handling in the background simultaneously. Our non-traditional wedding in the French Quarter was filled with love, live music, food, parading, dancing and laughter with a decidedly New Orleans spirit and flair and our diverse group of guests from all over the world and all walks of life continue to ask when we'll get married again! So much of that is due to Brittani, the Unique Weddings team and Brittani's design arm, New Orleans Candlelight & Decor, who are all pros at making events like our wedding truly unforgettable.

Michelle was able to quickly know our taste and priorities. She had wonderful recommendations to make the day complete. These ladies took excellent care of us on the day of the wedding. They kept us on schedule all while providing a calming energy. During the reception they were at the same time in the background yet, making sure we all were having a great time and my husband and I always had what we needed. I cannot say enough about Unique Weddings in New Orleans. They really know what they are doing and are an asset to the whole endeavor from planning to the day of.

The Uncommon Event is an adorable husband and wife team that takes to heart what they do. The rehearsal was a breeze (and my wedding party consisted of twenty-two people!) and Nikki was there every step of the way during the ceremony and the reception. Every detail was in order any everything literally ran smoothly. I cannot say enough about The Uncommon Event, I am even hiring their planning services for my up-coming baby shower this August! Side Note: Don't be fooled by the previous one star review, it seems that what happened there was that the bride thought she had the planning package when in fact she only had a coordinating package. The Uncommon Event provides different packages to suit their client's needs and budgets...one of the reasons why I love them!

New Orleans was a destination wedding for my Husband and me. Although my husband is originally from…read moreNew Orleans, we currently live in California. We desperately needed a professional that was local to New Orleans and well connected in the business to assist us with the wedding planning for our big day. Based on the "Why Higher Us" Points posted on the Uncommon Event website, we hired Nikki Barrow for the month of planning. What I would like to share with our readers is what our expectations were and what types of services were actually rendered. To sum it up, we were truly left disappointed, myself in tears, and we definitely weren't stress free as her services claimed. "Why Higher Us" 1. The venue coordinator cannot be the wedding planner. They coordinate the logistics of the venue. We manage the remaining 90% of the details that go into your wedding to ensure pure perfection. (My Response: It is true that most venues will come with a wedding coordinator. We got married at the St. Charles Presbyterian Church and our reception was held at the Audubon Tea Room. I don't know what the "remaining 90%" consisted of, but both coordinators at the venues handled all of the logistics for their respective venues. So in retrospect, we realized that we would have been fine without a wedding planner.) 5. We provide logical timeline guidance. There are a vast amount of steps in the wedding planning process and we ensure that every task is completed in a timely manner. (My Response: This point is just laughable, primarily because we provided her with the budget, venue and vendor information, logistics and timeline for the church ceremony and the Reception. For the Reception set-up, we found out that for every step of the way, she consulted with some of our friends and guests that was there to take direction from her, but instead she took direction from them. We were very disappointed with this news since we paid for her professional assistance to "ORCHESTRATE" as she calls it, our perfect wedding day, stress free. This unfortunately was not the case. ) 6. We get the job done. Planning a wedding can be very time-consuming. We make certain that all of the preparations are executed in an efficient and effective manner while allowing you peace of mind. (My Response: The website keeps referring to "We", so my husband and I were under the impression that she had a team that she worked with to setup the Reception to our vision. Not the case. She works alone. Once we found out that she was not willing to setup items at the reception (after she had already agreed to) I became very stressed and brought to tears because it was now 1 week before the wedding. I wanted to fire her but my husband convinced me that it was too late to find a replacement person. We ended up having to pay for people to come help set-up the ATR. ) 7. We protect your investment. You have dreamed of this day since you were a child. You want it to be perfect. Think of us as your wedding insurance that virtually guarantees everything will run smoothly on your big day! (My Response: If we did not explicitly tell her to do something then it wasn't getting done. Nor did she provide any advice on how to deal with crisis situations. For example, we needed to find a wedding cake because our original person "fleur de treats" cancelled. All we got was her sympathy but no plan of action. We planned every detail of our wedding from California which was very time consuming and stressful. This required us to take several trips to New Orleans to deal with Vendors because at that point we were just not satisfied with her competency.) 9. We provide peace of mind. We handle all issues that arise during the wedding planning process so that you can rest assured that you will have a flawless wedding day. (My Response: Here is an example of quite the opposite. She informs us that the Gift Box that we had delivered to her home had not arrived. Because we were an out-of-town couple we requested that our guests only provide gift cards and monetary gifts to avoid a huge shipping cost. During the wedding, guests were constantly walking up to my husband and me asking where to put their gifts because they weren't comfortable just leaving money in a card on a table. This could have been easily remedied if our wedding planner would have thought to just purchase a large gift bag from Walgreens, or a colored vase from Wal-Mart or even a large decorative container from the 99 cent store would have solved this issue. Who knows how many gifts we didn't receive because of this failure to provide a reasonable and simple solution to a problem. If it weren't for my husband, sister and close family and friends that helped us through this whole planning, it is our final observation that investing our time, energy, money and reliance on Nikki Barrow from the Uncommon Event was a complete waste.)
