The Cottage Dresser - The door at it's original state. As you can see, no door nob which means never was used.

    The Cottage Dresser

Warning to all you folks when you seek services from owner, Lisa, of The Cottage Dresser. My wife…read moreand I had seek services to have a door, that was already painted with a thin coat of white paint, to be given a distressed look. We dropped it off on April 22nd and after several followups, she finally had it ready on May 12th (Almost three weeks). When my wife and her mother went to pick it up on that Saturday, it turns out she did a terrible job on it. She had practically made the door look spotty as if someone just took some sandpaper and made circle marks in different areas. While Lisa's mother was there at the shop and Lisa on the phone, wife and her mother tried to explained to them that is not what they had asked for. Wife had provided a picture via FB messenger to Lisa from the beginning how she wanted the door to look like. But yet, Lisa and her mother was argumentative and talking down to them. The mother even made false claim how the door was brought in raw and was never originally painted. Once the discussion reached an agreement to provide corrective work on the door, Lisa had told wife she would send a pic of a finished corner of the door to ensure that is what she wanted by that following Wednesday. Four and a half weeks goes by with no response from Lisa, even after attempts to contact via FB messenger and email. Finally, I called and had to leave a message to contact me asap on June 15th . Lisa then goes to contact Leighann via FB messenger within the same day. Conveniently, Lisa claims how she got a severe eye infection from an unknown finish of the door that left her out of commission for two weeks. The doctor had advised to not mess with the door as he may feel there are chemical exposures. Later, I spoke with a subject matter expert (SME) and was told first of all, a professional must wear protective gear while working to prevent such events. Moreover, a thin coat of white paint on a door that had never been used would not have any toxic elements to do as such. My wife responded to Lisa via FB messenger saying how she did not make any sense when she didn't get "sick" the first time working on it and how we have waited so long to hear anything back. She requested to have the door ready for pick up on Saturday. Lisa had the nerve to say that we had to pay $75 dollars for the door if we wanted it back. I called Lisa the next day asking her how can she expect us to pay her for incomplete work and all she did was be combative and argumentative on the phone. I asked her don't you want the customer to be happy with your work? And she says that we would never be happy. All I have left to say folks, this is the worse experience of service I've ever experience across the board. If you see that place, turn around and run!

I love driving along what many of us would consider the backroads of America and discovering unique…read moreplaces. While driving through some of these smaller towns along the route I always have my eye out for these little antique shops. Although these shops have taken on an entirely different dimension than those of the past there are still a few that believe their floor space is much to precious to be filled with garage sale and thrift store leftovers. It was refreshing to find this store holds that standard still today - I think it's almost impossible to accurately identify where you draw the line but this place does a pretty good job of it. Unfortunately I didn't find anything that made me reach for my wallet but there are lots of quality pieces here and although we caught the staff in the middle of their lunch they did give us a nice greeting and offered any help if we felt we needed it...

*********** WOW. What a reply- Nice try saving yourself Mary- I wish I recorded the phone call…read more Before trying to work me HE IMMEDIATELY told me to find someone else in a rude tone. I wasn't backing out of the cleaning- I was adjusting the amount in which I was requesting to reflect the budget I have......So YES- it is completely unbelievable that they are willing to do a basic cleaning for a FURNISHED home yet unwilling to do a basic cleaning in an unfurnished home. You're MONEY HUNGRY and unprofessional. And yes, this town is ghetto if you're not from here. Im glad your happy cleaning up all the trash in this town.*************** This company was so rude, it actually drove me to create an account for yelp finally. This company is a scam. Rude on the phone. Refused to do a basic cleaning for 200 because there will no furniture in the house....and they consider that a "move out cleaning". Even though I AM NOT requesting the full clean out service. They will want you to pay over 400 for a move out- even if you ask them NOT to clean out drawers, fridge, or oven. TRUE SCAM I was so put off by the bad attitude of the man who answered the phone that I will clean my own house. I wont even attempt another company around this ghetto town of Ocala. Blessed to be getting out of this horrible state. I've never encounter people more rude than in this town.
