I was at Diggers yesterday. One of the employees followed me around. At one point, I spoke to her, and she seemed embarrassed that I had spotted her. The second time I caught her watching me, I left the store. I'm sorry if they have a shoplifting problem, but it's rude to watch people shop. I've never stolen anything in my life. I carry a small wristlet, too small to conceal anything in. I didn't give them any reason to suspect me. I will not be going back! read more

Things that stood out to me was the crazy, vast selection of clocks! Oddly enough, John is about to get an antique clock that has been passed down generations and we've been discussing where to put it. There is something magical about old clocks, the sounds, smells, chimes and more- depending on what kind of clock it is. I love a clock that can take an otherwise still room and literally give it movement. John and I popped in to see if there was anything either of us couldn't live without- but more for brief entertainment. Seeing things that reminded us of childhood, or our grandparents, parents and such. Picking up items that hold memories for us as well- we were big in the scouting program and Diggers had plenty of scout paraphernalia, both antique and more current. They also had an abundance of grinding machines- for coffee? That's what John thought. And I found bins and bins of rough stones near the register, some I could identify and others I just couldn't place. The lady behind the counter kinda scared me off though- saying those were "very" expensive. I know, I've been collecting stones, minerals, crystals for as long as I can remember and I have watched the prices climb over the years. Like everything else. So, while I enjoyed browsing- I didn't actually buy anything this time! However, I liked it enough to stop back in next time I am passing through. read more

My father and I went to this antique mall yesterday 01/29/2025 and we will not ever be returning. We felt like we were being watched and profiled as criminals, when we were just trying to shop. Also the lady and gentlemen at the front desk LIED when my dad stated that they had a dealers business license for tax exempt. They stated that due to the "new laws" in Florida, that they can not accept an out of state one. Went right across the street to the other FANTASTIC antique store and they stated that it was not true, just they had to fill out a form and have a paper copy of the license on file, and that Diggers Antique just didn't want to do it. If you are so scared of your customers (Lockers for purses, following people through the store, ect) and lying to your customers, then maybe you shouldn't be in business. read more

It's always a good sign when you enter one of these antique shops and there's a line at the counter waiting to be checkout and a few other customers waiting for assistance, of course it's not so pleasant if you're the one waiting but none the less it does show there are interesting things to purchase and the prices are somewhat inline with the real value or that you can at least negotiate the price down some if you feel the need. There's certainly lots to look at here and the selection covers a broad spectrum as well, lots of older pieces and not so many of what I describe as thrift store or garage sale items which I find annoying at some of the shops that puts quantity over quality. This store is divided into three difference sections, the nicer air conditioned shop, a warehouse section that is probably more for the overflow still nice pieces but displayed in a space that isn't so comfortable, then the fenced in outdoor section for the bigger pieces that can withstand the elements. My mother recently passed away and while cleaning out her house, I came across an old box that looked like it could be an antique. I took the box, along with a piano chair with claw feet, to Diggers Antiques in Ocala and the employee there offered me $10 for the box and $20 for the chair. I went across the street from Diggers to Ole Cracker House Antique Mall and was offered $80 for the box and $75 for the chair. I go to every antique store that I can find that isn't loaded with painted furniture and home decor stuff. I HATE those! When I pulled into the parking lot at Digger's Antique Mall, and saw the large outdoor area with rusty and weathered stuff (my FAVES!!!), I knew my experience was going to be a fun one. I wasn't disappointed. I was greeted at the door with a friendly hello, and roamed through every nook and cranny for nearly two hours. Like with every antique store, not everything is a bargain. I expect that. I'm a bargain shopper looking for great deals on stuff that I find interesting, and I found six items that I couldn't resist. As I found my goodies, I brought them up to the counter for holding, and they were written up and ready to go when I was. The store is divided into three basic sections: the climate controlled front showroom and office, the warehouse, and the outdoor area with the stuff that isn't effected by the elements. I visited on a cold January day, so the warehouse and outdoor areas were comfortable to browse. These areas are where I found five of my six purchases. I speculate in saying that they probably wouldn't be as fun to navigate on hotter Florida days. There is a public restroom (some stores do not have restrooms for their customers). Be aware that if you use a credit card for your purchases, that there is a 3% fee. I live over a hundred miles away from Digger's, but any time I'm visiting Ocala, I'll be sure to go back. Diggers is quite a big space and it's almost filled with sellers. The employees have been friendly and helpful when I've visited. They seem to have something for everyone there such as furniture, jewelry, collectibles, books, newspapers, toys, tools, dishes, glassware and much more. The prices seem a little higher than other antique stores but the quality is higher as well. If you see something you want go ahead and buy it. Twice I decided to come back in a couple of days and both times those items were gone. read more

(Driftwood at Pet Smart is $79 & you get a much smaller piece:) VERY nice antique mall w/ two very friendly & helpful vendors while we were there. (FYI: Owners are often not who you see in antique malls. As part of their contracts, vendors must take monthly shifts working the aisles & registers. This means service will often differ greatly depending on the day.) This is a very large antique mall although you might not realize it from the outside. It's easy to move around in & the variety of items is refreshing. There are a multiple booths selling vinyl (definitely worth a trip if you are in the market for record albums). Lots of small primitive pieces as well as costume jewelry, toys, glassware spanning many decades, linens, clocks, primitives, & just about everything else vintage is sold in this mall. They have so many offerings that there's even a trailer filled w/ furniture-- the pieces cannot fit inside the building! I didn't find prices higher than what they are in most antique malls EXCEPT w/ regard to furniture. Will definitely return when I'm looking for a particular non-furniture vintage piece. (Remember to ask for a discount when you get to the register; most vendors will allow 10% to 20% discounts; the person running the register has a list of which vendors offer which amount.) I only wish I had gotten the name of the older brunette female (vendor) who was so helpful; she is an incredible asset to the mall. read more
