EZ Pass

An absolute joke. I received a toll violation from SOUTH JERSEY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY. When I…read morecontact NJ to fight it, they told me I needed to go to EZ pass va since that is where I am registered at. When I went to VA, they told me that EZ pass NJ owns this. LARRY MILLER FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSES to even pick up a finger and help. Even though it's all in an email, he said he never said this and that. I have screen shots and email thread and he said I never received this. Is this how the entire Ez pass of NJ is run? You have customer service, but it's actually non existent? You are quick to charge me and send me violations but getting help is a NO NO. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. You are worthless and it's pathetic. Makes me never want to come to dirty jersey because you are all an absolute nightmare to deal with.

I have to admit that I've been a laggard in adopting EZ Pass in that, I don't particularly care for…read morethe government tracking how, when or why I get from Point A to Point B (how easily we trade freedom for convenience.) However, now that my phone effectively allows surveillance whether I consent or not, what the hell. It's time to get a transponder and join the convenience brigade. Sure, you can blast through collection towers avoiding the hassle of cash lanes and the time suck of someone making change. But just like Forever Stamps, I find I lose touch with what things actually cost. A first class stamp, I have no idea. Tolls on the Jersey Turnpike?? I might as well wail on a pinata blindfolded. Only my credit card knows for sure. I'm old enough to remember when raising tolls set off a firestorm of protest and general disgust. A big fat raise for the government technocrat who discovered how to anesthetize the public into mindlessly paying more for public sector mendacity. Now tolls go up yearly with barely a whimper while potholes expand to the size of moon craters. Who cares, now that I have EZ Pass and never have to put my foot on the brake or fumble with cash. Next up is getting rid of the gas tax in favor of the government tracking your actual miles through in-car tech and then billing you as part of your car registration. Don't believe me, it's already being tested in California. If they're paying attention New Jerseyans know instinctually, just how much our Comrades in Trenton love funding schemes from California. I suspect gas won't get any cheaper as ExxonMobil hoovers the windfall but isn't that the point, it's death by a thousand painless cuts. Maybe, I'll write my Congressman... if I can find a stamp. Four begrudging, anonymous stars.

Came here for passport stuff and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Before my appointment I…read morecalled in and asked some questions that they were always knowledgeable on in helping me have what I need before coming into the appointment. It maybe took 10 minutes to get everything done- great experience!

I had to obtain the paperwork to renew my passport while on business in Hamilton Square, and found…read morethe Mercer County Connection to be exceptionally organized. The employee that I worked with (Caucasian female, brunette, late 40s, attractive) was incredibly thorough in going over the renewal process to the point of it being slightly overwhelming. Nonetheless, I was able to complete the application renewal process in a matter of minutes, as well as obtain my passport photo at a cost of $15. I'm not sure if the cost of the two pictures (one was an extra) is on the high end of things when it comes to passport pictures, but I wanted to get everything done quickly so that I could send my passport + renewal application directly to Philadelphia for processing. What's convenient about the the Mercer County Connection is that they'll provide you with a USPS envelope + labeling (especially to expedite shipping), as well as the location itself being adjacent to the Acme Save-On grocery store where you can purchase the $170.00 money order for $0.99. I didn't have a checkbook handy at the time, so this location came in handy at the absolute right time. For those that didn't want to pay the $15 for the passport photo, you can go across the street to the CVS Pharmacy or WalGreen's (I forget which one) to see if its cheaper. And of course, the post office is about 1.5 miles down the road in a small strip mall adjacent to Applebee's on Rte. 33. Altogether, I have much to thank the Mercer County Connection for. I greatly appreciate their organization in helping me mail out an expedited passport package to the US State department.
