They were arrogant, difficult to get ahold of, and non compromising. Further, they were not dressed appropriately and just sounded bad.

My now wife and I had our wedding ceremony in the Butterfly Garden. While beautiful, it does not have a sound system. I was initially thinking of using a Bluetooth speaker or boombox, but my fiance disabused me of this notion. Once I regained consciousness, she strongly suggested a string duo to complement the beauty of the location. Our excellent wedding planner, Stephanie Tan at Peachy Events (who we highly recommend), suggested Divisi. We met with them and they suggested a string duo. They were very professional and easy to deal with. We simply selected songs (classic, pop, etc.) from their list. We could have also had songs converted to strings but did not use that option. During our wedding ceremony, the duo was very professional and perfect! They played contemporary music while the guests waited, wedding music for my bride and I, and My Universe (our song) on the way out. Our guests really loved them and this - combined with the Butterfly Garden and beautiful flowers for Linda and Secret Floral Garden - really made it feel even more ethereal in the butterfly garden! I knew from the start that I wanted some sort of strings at our wedding. I was referred to Divisi Strings by my venue and I am so glad I decided to look into them further. For us, it was a great bang for our buck. I went with the Amp'd String Quartet which I used for the prelude, ceremony, and cocktail hour. They were absolutely phenomenal. I received so many compliments about the music and talent they showed. I also used their DJ & Emcee services. The dance floor was packed all night! We even had guests trying to pay the DJ to play longer! It was so nice to have everything music related from the same company. Tony, the manager, was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the entire planning process. I saved the perfect one for my 100th review! I love Divisi Strings so dearly! I highly recommend you don't waste your money on anyone else. They are supremely professional, talented and down to earth. No snobby performers here, which can describe most people in this profession. They are composed of strings, trumpet, harp, guitar, flute, and piano players. When planning our wedding I had talked to another string quartet we found at the Bridal Extravaganza before approaching Divisi. My hubby is a composer and he wrote a quartet for the wedding. The first quartet was not very into learning a new piece. From most classically trained musicians I have encountered, they love new compositions because anyone gets tired of doing the same thing over and over. They tried to tell me that his piece was three different pieces so they were going to charge for three different pieces. Um ok. I'm not stupid, a string quartet piece is always written in three movements. So they were trying to pull one over on me. Do not appreciate. So I went on to checking with Divisi and man they were excited about a new piece. They are a young group of people and very into expanding the concept of traditional performance. Ok not going to go into the nerd talk so let's just say they're modern and not stuffy. They were way under half the price of the other quartet, so that was an easy decision! My hubby is a little or a lot of a perfectionist, so he was editing up until the week before the wedding. So they only had a week to get acquainted with the piece. They came in early for the wedding and played some background music while guests walked in early. For the ceremony they were great and according to the hubby, spot on! For my hubby's composition recital two years after our wedding we had hired another quartet, Fine Arts Strings, to play the piece. They were suppose to be giving us a discount because it was for a university performance as apart of his degree requirements. Well Fine Arts Strings bailed on us three days before the event! No joke! In a hustle I called Divisi Strings to see if we could salvage the event. Divisi remembered our wedding and the piece, from two years ago! Hey no problem they could make it and save our skin. I was blown away by their willingness to help us out with only three days notice. To top it off they were going to actually be cheaper than our original quartet, Fine Arts Strings. So why we didn't we hire Divisi in the first place I don't know. Despite their willingness and availability to jump in and save us, the Dean of the school wouldn't allow the change on short notice, so the recital is going to be moved to the summer. Which means post-phoning graduation. *sigh* We will of course still be using Divisi and I will always appreciate their ability to go above and beyond! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I became such a HUGE fan when I saw divisi strings Collide perform at a pharmacy convention in the Woodlands a few years back and told myself that when I get married, I'm getting them! The day came for pi day and I was getting married. One of the first things i did besides booking the venue was to get divisi! Yes, they are on the pricer end but they are worth every penny! Want your wedding or event to be classy yet modernly hip? An event that people will talk about after its all over? Get divisi! I got compliments and so much feed back from young and old of how much they enjoyed the entertainment and music. Unique in so many ways. I also chose Divisi to get the whole package deal and compromise with my parents on entertainment. They wanted the classic strings at the beginning of my reception as guests arrived/cocktail hour, which they did wonderfully. My parents were also worried about sound bc my sister got married last year where we had a different company do strings and weren't really able to hear them. Divisi has a personal sound director that over sees that the music is perfect for the event so I was not worried. During the reception, I could even hear them perform while I was in the foyer. Collide came with 4 talented string performers and 1 awesome DJ (Jason). I can't put into words how wonderful my wedding turned out with divisi strings. Too bad there are not enough video footage of them during their thing but trust me, they are AMAZING! Shellie and Tony were very helpful in getting everything arranged and setting up the contract. Like any wedding vendor, a deposit must be paid to go on their calendar. I met with Tony a few weeks prior to the wedding date where we went over their sets of music and where their performance would be played out thru the evening. Strings only in the beginning, collide ( DJ and strings) thru dinner, and then by late evening, the DJ would takeover completly for dancing etc.. Jason the DJ was also the MC for the English part of my wedding and a good one too. Very professional and experienced. Tony addressed all my concerns and questions where I did not have to worry about a thing on entertainment. I think I babbled enough. They allowed us to pick the songs we wanted but also had helpful suggestions. They were also always quick to respond to our questions and concerns throughout the planning process. I had to cancel my music contract with Divisi because my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and had to postpone my entire wedding. While all of my vendors were very understanding Divisi was not. We hired the amp'd up quartet for our event & they were great! They are a little pricey but I think it was well worth the money. Divisi String does charge a service fee if you pay with a credit card. You can avoid the service fee by sending in a check but they won't hold your event date until your payment is received. My only complaint is their delayed response time. I have never spoken with anyone on the phone because the answering machine always picked up whenever I called. I often had to send at least two emails (sometimes more) in order to get a reply and this can be a little stressful if you are trying to get answers for your special event. Something to keep in mind: the contract doesn't mention anything regarding a meal requirement for the musicians but it's certainly "appreciated" if you feed the quartet during your event. read more

My best friends wedding was scheduled for early May and unfortunately had to be canceled due to the shelter in place. I was supposed to officiate their wedding and they were devastated as their date was sentimental to them as a couple. Their wedding planner suggested a private roof top ceremony for the two of them at their home so they could still have their significant date and a celebration later on with their vendors. Divisi Strings was one of the first companies they hired and they were so excited to contract with them for their special day. Late on Friday night, I had the idea to see if a duo might be able to surprise them and play for the two of them during our Zoom ceremony with family watching from afar. I reached out to DS and had a response within 10 min late on a Friday night that they were thrilled with the idea and would get back to me over the weekend when they checked with their musicians. Not only did they bring the most perfect duo to surprise them, they brought them to tears. They couldn't find the strings for their special song and composed the music for them to be able to play on their day. Divisi Strings pulled off the most thoughtful surprise for them, and for me coming through with the song I didn't think was possible. Divisi Strings played a big dinner event tonight at Vic 'n Anthony's. From the moment I walked and heard them playing "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, I was hooked! Their set was a mix of contemporary and classical. Lots of Beatles tunes, from "All you need is love" to "Eleanor Rigby." They played "Claire de Lune" by Debussy and "Wrecking Ball" by Maile Cyrus. There was the the Fifty Shades theme song, "Earned It," as well as Coldplay's "Viva la vida." During our Argentine course, they played the famous "Por Una Cabeza." I know all this because I was listening and enjoying it immensely. They played almost nonstop from 7pm til 10:30. What a talented group! Collide provided an elegant and relaxing mood during dinner, then the DJ kicked it up to party mode for dance time. Best of both worlds. Our wedding planner suggested Divsi Strings to us and we got the Amp'ed package. I'd always dreamed of walking down the aisle to Helena by My Chemical Romance but I couldn't find any sheet music for the strings anywhere. They said it wasn't a problem, composed the piece, learned it, and played it for my wedding. It was beautiful and just what I envisioned. My parents got a good laugh out of it and couldn't believe I actually walked down the aisle to that song but they even said it sounded nice. We had a Harry Potter themed wedding so they played Hedwig's Theme add my guest entered the ceremony. I've only received compliments on the string quartet from my guests they really enjoyed them. They played at the ceremony and cocktail hour and I thought they were very reasonably priced for a string quartet that played for an hour and a half.
