Since our French was very limited, I think it was the owner who came to try and explain the menu to us. I had an appetizer he suggested, unfortunately I don't remember the name, but they were little triangular fried pastries filled with a seasoned ground beef. They were delicious! For the main, I chose the couscous with beef grilled. We weren't sure what it was coming with, but was pleasantly surprised at the delicious huge ornate pot of vegetable soup that came with the couscous. The server scoops some couscous into a bowl, then pours the vegetable soup onto the couscous. Piping hot soup, I might add, which made it even better after walking out in the cold. The beef was on a skewer, and mildly seasoned which was perfect for me. The soup also was mildly seasoned, so you could really enjoy the flavors of the vegetables. The amount of soup and couscous you get could feed a small army. It was so good, and although I had more of the soup, no way could I get more couscous. Which was cooked perfectly, nice and fluffy and soft. I shall dream of this place until I can find another restaurant that serves this!

There are several Greek restaurants in the Mons area but this was the first time that I encountered a Greek waiter in one. Actually, I think he might have been the owner and was a friend of one of my group, so that is always useful. I cannot remember what I ate, to be honest because it was a couple months ago but I remember it being very good. I always remember bad food and good food and this was definitely not bad. The staff was very accommodating; got us a nice big table for the entire group, recommended dishes and served some nice retsina. This monument in Belgium stands on the grounds where the battle of Waterloo took place. The monument itself is a big mound with a lion on which visitors can climb and the view from the top is amazing as long as you don't mind heights! Although I'm not a big history fan I found it a very interesting experience and would recommend it. Also, students are given a discount and the restaurant opposite is very nice!

We went on a Friday evening and I think it opened at 6 and stayed opened until 10. Since it was Friday, a non-meat day I was told by my young lady, we both decided on having trout with almonds. Well the almonds were thin, shaved down and roasted. The trout, of course, had a face on it. I forgot about that but it didn't give me any dirty looks, so it was ok. The fish came with potatoes for me (I decided against fries) and chicon for my lady. We also had a beer each. Their main beer is the French one, Kronenbourg 1664, which isn't a bad beer and a nice change from Jupiler or Stella Artois. Since I was still hungry I did the dessert thing and had a dame blanche. It cost 50 cents more to have the chocolate sauce heated up. No biggie. The lady had a taramisu and said it was quite tasty. My ice cream was good, as ice cream usually is AND it was a big sundae. The entire bill was 34.30 Euro. This was VERY inexpensive for all that food and all that GOOD food!
