They have a sign on the wall when you walk in that lets them know which shoes to put on first. They even have a dressing room for them to change in. We have time to get dressed before getting there but Wren will not have that! she has to get changed in their dressing room. Everything about this place is very inviting and Wren has really blossomed while here. Parents are not allowed in the room while the class is in process. There is a glass on the door so we can see, we just can't go in. The kids tend to do better when no parents are in there. We were allowed in one time so far so see the progress they had made on their routine. Waiting for her class isnt so bad either, they offer free wifi so the older heathen is ok with waiting around for his little sister. They even have a play corner with a ton of toys, so the baby heathen is pretty entertained too.

The teachers all have a deep love for what they do and it shows in how they teach our children. I couldn't ask for a better place to spend so much of our time. If you are looking for a friendly studio where your child will be built up not only as a graceful dancer but as a lady then this is the place for you. The girls in my daughters class have formed deep and lasting friendships over the years because they work as a team and have respect for one another and build each other up, sharing in one another's happiness. We signed up for a package of 5 classes to prepare for our first dance at our wedding after hearing about their company at a wedding expo. Paul was our instructor and he was so helpful in creating a choreographed routine for our song and preparing us for the big day. He recommended classes 1-2x per week leading up to our wedding which was a good schedule. With lots of practice in between lessons we were able to keep up with the learning and it was a big success! Paul was really great in assessing our dance capabilities (as neither of us have a background in dance), and creating a routine that was suited to our level. I appreciated the time he took with each of us to make sure we had our steps down. He was very kind and flexible as were all the staff at the studio. We even stopped by to practice on the hardwood floors when we didn't have a lesson scheduled and they were kind enough to let us play our music overhead on the speakers. This is a great studio for anyone learning a wedding dance or looking for dance lessons in general. When we have some more time we are thinking of going back for Jiving lessons!

The last show Southern Girls on May 24, 2015 was nearly as bad as the two previous years shows. I will say the school went way out this year by springing for those bales of hay. An improvement over the usual cut out stars on the back curtain. You would think that after so many years of doing this a little more could be brought into the productions. I realize many of the children are small and entertainment value of little ones is not to be expected. However, small children shows at schools manage to do a lot better on small budgets without expensive costumes. Personally I think this school of dance is way over rated. I see no improvement from one year to the next.

Oxana is a creative director and collaborates with many community professionals to deliver high quality entertainment for kids and adults. Kids love the classes and always look forward to perform! The costumes, the stage composition, engagement among the dancers of wide range of ages, starting as young as 3 years old. It is amazing how 30 - 40 kids can be organized in a 2.5 hours show :)! It was a very entertaining performance, and the costumes were show stoppers on their own. The show was about 2 hours, with an intermission. The first half was performances based on the movie Frozen, however, the second half was completely different with no more mention of the movie. I really enjoyed both halves, however, my daughter was disappointed that the second half did not continue the story and that the beloved character, Olaf, was only in one dance. The second half had fabulous performances that were more geared to the adults in the audience, while the first half was more for the children. All in all, it was an amazing show with beautiful performances and stunning costumes. Definitely worth the trip downtown! Now the Sunrise Dance Company is actually a dance studio, and while I cannot reflect on the quality of the studio, the quality of the performances portrayed at this event at the Hobby Center were definitely professional.

Don't lose heart, parents, this journey requires you to let go and let the teachers do their job. The dynamic of the class varies, but the teachers are consistent. Observe the more advanced classes, the dancers probably grew up and looked just as confused as your 3yo does. But they will get it, and they will be better for having been a cookie joe dancer.

My initial impression was good because they have a lot of good morals and they are actually teaching the little girls good technique. However, after a few months, I started to notice that there was a lot of distraction happening, especially in the little girls class. The instructors focus was to try and convince even younger little girls maybe two years old and younger to try and come in to take the class. The instructors attention to the girls sitting on the floor with their parents Was more than 50% of the class this really distracted my child. I had my in-laws and my husband also take my daughter when I could not and they did not have any nice things to say about the class. They mentioned that expectation was way too strict for little girls And my husband did not like the atmosphere that was set by the owners-- he said that they were not friendly toward him at all as a first time parent parent taking his child. As a dancer, myself with a degree, I also understand that temperature is important in the studio, but in the summer months it was way too hot almost 80°. I don't think this is an appropriate temperature. I don't think they carry themselves in a nurturing and comforting way. We have found the climate to be very militant as opposed to relational. They are diplomatic and do nice things for the community, but not enough to keep us here. We will not return to take class.
