So, the quality of work and lifetime guarantee are positives for White Pine. The reason for only a 3-Star review stems from what was promised in the sale. When presenting what the company was offering, the salesperson showed gutters with included leaf guards. She never indicated that these were a separate purchase, leading us to believe they were included in the purchase. After installation, we found out the leaf guards were not installed and were told they were not included in the contract. When questioned about the misrepresentation in the sales presentation, we were offered a 30% discount if we wanted the leaf guards installed - an additional cost of $1,300. Feeling that the misrepresentation by the salesperson - whether unintentional or not - should have been covered by the company and not merely discounted by them, we cannot in good conscience fully recommend White Pine Renovation.

They waited until every shingle on the entire house was torn off to tell us we needed entirely new decking...another $9,000. Obviously, we were shocked and appalled, but we had no choice at that point. Not one single roofing company would have come out to take over. After the job was complete, there were roofing nails EVERYWHERE! We had to borrow a magnet and go over the property multiple times so our 4 year old didn't get a nail through the foot. Then, when rain or snow came, we had leaks around our chimney and bathroom vents...we still do because the owner is MIA and we are stuck trying to figure out how to resolve a problem they created. Don't be fooled by low prices or quick service to get things done. More than likely you are being duped into signing a contract that is not going to be honored.

Expectations Exceeded!…read more Working with Brian Downs of Downs Construction has been an exceptional experience from start to finish. We first reached out to Brian in November for a major addition to our home--a new bedroom, walk-in closet, expanded entryway, and a covered porch. From the initial planning stages through groundbreaking in March, the unexpected tornado in May, and project completion in June, Brian delivered on every promise he made. In today's world, that kind of reliability is rare. Even when issues arose--as they inevitably do with any major construction--Brian was the first to raise them, often before we even noticed. Every challenge was met with a solution, and every step was handled with transparency, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to quality. We're absolutely thrilled with the final result and already looking forward to working with him again on future projects. It's clear Brian takes pride in his work, and it shows in every detail. We recommend Downs Construction without hesitation. If you want a contractor who communicates, cares, and delivers--Brian is the one to call.
