We were there during Hurricane Beryl so we almost didn't get to dive, but we were able to get an instructional beach dive in before the hurricane hit. And luckily Hurricane Beryl passed by the island relatively quickly so that only a day after the hurricane hit, the harbor master was allowing boats back into the water. We had 2 instructors for the 4 of us. Alfonso worked with the boys, and Kris worked with my partner and me. Both guys were amazingly patient, kind, and even very funny! I had a moment during the 1st open water dive where I started to feel scared, but Kris helped me to calm down and continue with the dive. And then during our 2nd dive (down to 50 ft), we saw manta ray, barracuda, and even a nurse shark. It was everything we could have wished for. Learning to scuba dive has been a lifelong dream of mine, and diving in Cozumel is indescribably beautiful. I felt like I was in an aquarium, there was so much life everywhere. We are going to use our 2 open water dives we did with Scuba Du towards our instruction for full scuba certification. We will 100% go back to Cozumel to dive again, and we will absolutely dive with the great people at Scuba Du when we return! Thanks for everything, Alfonso and Kris! They arranged a refresher course and a discover Scuba lesson for my son so we could dive together and then a 2 tank dive at two coral reef locations. They were able to look me up in the computer and found my certification online and got me signed up right away so we were in the water the very next day. They lent us all equipment needed and the instruction was thorough and the instructor was kind and helped my son who was a first time scuba diver. It was a proud father son moment watching my boy check one off the bucket list to scuba dive for the first time and we got to scuba side by side. This is a solid dive center and the prices are reasonable. Can't get better than this in terms of location and convenience. 5 stars and a muchas gracias to the staff, instructor and crew.

Getting a new start - surprise 'vows' on a RMCatamaran with our families…read more We booked an evening cruise with Riviera Maya Catamarans. Our daughters and their 'friends' were meeting for the first time. We let RMC know that we wanted to surprise our family with a simple vow-exchanging ceremony. The Captain and staff knew - no one else. We were welcomed by two amazing greeters - they presented us with a cold bottle of champagne before we even boarded. The staff had taken time to set a gorgeous table with fresh fruit and snacks - fresh flowers placed around the vessel. it was the perfect welcome. I wish that I could remember all of the names staff: Sofia, Captain Alex are the names that come to mind - but all were great at their jobs. My only discouragement was that the seas were rough, so we had to stay in Puerto Adventuras canals and finally dropped anchor in what I'd consider to be a 'party cove'. Cap Alex did his best to get us away from the twerkers, loud music and drunk partiers. We did surprise our family -Captain Alex ad-libbed the wedding in Spanish, we exchanged vows and he declared us 'husband and wife'. It was magical. I thank the staff, Captain and crew for making a positively wonderful event for us and our families. Thank you!

We did one day of ocean diving and two days of Cenote diving and had a blast. Unbelievably huge queen angelfish and barracuda. The Cenotes have to be seen to be believed. Beautiful and creepy at the same time. Our dive masters were Paloma, Gustavo and Steve. All were phenomenal and treated us like family. Our 16-year-old son was diving with us and they treated him with special care. I would recommend them hands down as a small, family-owned dive operation that limits to small groups and provides excellent customer service at great prices.

I did not appreciate the requirement to wear a life jacket in shallow water to snorkel with the turtles. The amount of people in the snorkeling areas was way too much. People were kicking up sand, flailing in the water and pushing people (me) to get in front of where any turtles were. It was extremely disappointing. The only reasons I got any photos was because I have a GoPro on a stick. I would NOT do the turtle thing again. I would however go scuba diving. That seemed like they took out small groups on small boats so it wouldn't be overcrowded.

The boats are small, with room for 8 or 9 divers. Back roll entries are required, as these boats aren't large enough for a dive platform. The boat captains were very good and able to deal with both calm and rough water efficiently. They also helped carry gear when needed, and helped divers deal with gear as they got on and off the boats. I observed ADS dive staff working with student divers, and they seemed patient and thorough (I'm a dive instructor myself, so I can recognize when other dive pros are doing a good job). Safety was a high priority. Overall, a great experience and we were glad to have a chance to dive with Blue Experience Diving and the Akumal Dive Shop.

They are extremely helpful planning your trip/dives, during the trip and after. They are very communicative and try to set you up on the dives that best fit your preferences. Did the bull shark feeding dive this year and I am 100% coming back every year for it now. Super classy shop and crew who really cares about the ocean and It's inhabitants! Pablo, Anita, and all of the instructors and DM's are extremely helpful and I would recommend to anyone!!

Although, we found many cheaper places this was the safest route to take as the instructors gave us a 3 hour safety class. Other cheaper places only offered 30 minutes, but your safety is worth a few extra bucks. Lauren was my dive instructor, she was extremely knowledgeable and awsome to be around. I did a total of 5 dives with her, and she gave me memories that will last a lifetime. I opted to become Padi open water certified and with help of Lauren and other instructors at the facility the class move on effortlessly. This was a 10 star experience and you should not think twice about using this facility. The prices were reasonable, the staff was fantastic, and all equipment was good quality and included in the price.

We booked a two-tank dive with Salty Endeavors in Cozumel and came away disappointed…read more The training was weird. Francesco spoke very fast with a strong accent and said upfront that raising hands for questions is not acceptable to him during his training. All four of us struggled to understand him. The first dive was solid, but the second was just average - and we would have much preferred staying on the same reef rather than moving. More concerning were the safety and experience issues. During one dive, Francesco knocked my beginner son's mask off with his fin at around 35 feet. Our son managed to recover on his own (thxs to training from the guide and Dad), but it was a stressful and avoidable situation - especially for a newer diver and experienced guide. We also brought a GoPro to capture the experience, but were told we couldn't use it ourselves. We were told they would handle it and supplement with their phones, yet we ended up with zero photos or videos from either dive. That's probably the most disappointing part - no memories to take with us other than what we can recall ourselves. Overall, not a terrible dive, but far from the experience we expected. The combination of safety concerns and lack of follow-through left us very disappointed.

I have been going there for years and have many of my PADI certifications from them. The instructors are so good at what they do and it's clear that they care for their students and fellow divers. The front office is always helpful and explains everything clearly. Even the boat captains are great! So, whether you are planning a short visit or a long visit, whether you want to do shore dives or boat dives, it's all available to you there. Also, if you're coming in by a cruise boat, it's very doable to do two morning dives with them. They can supply all of the equipment you need, soup to nuts! Just bring your enthusiasm and plan on some incredible diving.
