In the Pensacola area, dive shops rent equipment and you go on a charter boat to do your dive. So this review is just about the dive shop & equipment. The staff here seemed a little unfriendly but not rude. The equipment we rented was fine but I felt prices were a little high in comparison to other locations I've rented from around the country. At least when you rent you get the equipment for 24 hours. So if you do an afternoon dive on the first day and then do a morning dive the second day you might not have to re-rent equipment. Check with staff about charter boats going out...they work with a couple different ones from what I hear. Unfortunately, in the scuba dive equipment industry it's all about making money first. That being said, when they rent equipment they make money. If they don't rent equipment, then they don't make money and they go out of business. So if you ask how the diving conditions are, more than likely, you're going to get an answer that will lean toward you renting their equipment. Granted, if the seas are too dangerous to go out on, they'll tell you that. But when was the last time you went to any dive shop and they told you visibility was poor? Thus was our rental experience...the boat went to a single location for a two tank dive, visibility was at times 15-20 ft but usually less than 15 ft, and there wasn't much to see. I think we need a dive conditions website where any diver can put out DAILY comments on visibility, marine life, choppiness, drift, water temp, suit requirements, current, etc... That way, us renters can "know before we rent" if we're going to get our money's worth or if we should opt to dive at a different site. read more

I called and asked about the advanced open water class and was specifically told that the eLearning class was cheaper because I didn't have to pay for books. It was also more convenient so I enrolled online and paid the fees through PADI as I was instructed. After completing the online portion, I called to schedule the dives and was again told that the fees I paid through PADI covered Dive Pros fees since I listed them as my dive school when I enrolled, and that I didn't owe them anything else. The instructor was knowledgeable and very helpful, but after the dive they insisted that I pay an additional $170 to cover Dive Pros fees and to submit my paperwork. He also explained that the books are actually cheaper than the eLearning, which was exactly the opposite of what I had been told twice before. This was not the boat fee or equipment rental, which I paid separately for and was aware of prior. read more

Very friendly. I went there with a friend who is new to diving and our vacation was limited so need to get him certified quickly. The people there are very friendly and willing to work with you and customize schedules to make it happen. We also met the instructor's family and went to to dinner. Very friendly group. Definitely would go with them again if ever was known town. However recently the instructor passed away. He definitely will be missed. read more

After being certified at another local dive shop I worried that I might not recieve the best service at Dive Pros when looking for gear. I was completely wrong. The shop went out of its way to explain the pros and cons of all the equipment I was interested in, and worked within my price limitations to ensure I was well prepared for gulf diving. They even let me try the gear out in their pool. Additionally, they remembered me on my return visits, happily provided dive site advice, and made me feel like part of the family. Im not sure if this is how all dive shops are, but dive pros has helped cultivate my passion for this amazing sport. read more

This our go-to dive shop anytime we come down for a dive / dives. Not only do they have a good inventory and friendly staff, they also have a pool that you can use to try gear before purchasing it. These folks make you feel like an old friend and do everything they can to make sure you are happy when you leave. My wife and I stopped in looking to get her a new BC. I got my dive certification a couple years ago here and had a great instructor Clark. He was very knowledgeable. I have rented gear here and have been happy and they have fair prices on gear. If you get certified here be sure to follow up to get your dive card. I never got mine but never followed up either as you had to go back to the store to get it. read more

Rented gear from them, I was not able to use any of it because of complications. Tried to go back and explain to get my money back, and they refused to refund me, but they did give me half off my next rental. We were just down from Virginia diving on the Oriskany and this shop is where we got our tanks filled. The staff is professional and very friendly. When we were done they invited us back to rinse off our gear and take showers before we headed back home. They were very hospitable. Just finished my basic scuba with them. Everyone in the store is nice and really helpful. Love this class. Gary was my instructor and he was awesome! he made sure everyone was comfortable with where we were before he pushed us further. He even came in an extra day for a girl who wanted more help with skills. He is very knowledgable and nice. He is exactly what a new scuba diver should want in an instructor. This business and the people that work for them are awesome! I went with my husband to become certified divers, and the staff, no matter who you talk to, are very friendly and knowledgeable with their gear, SCUBA sites and conditions in the area. They are down-to-earth honest if you need a type of gear, or if you can go without. They are not pushy salesmen, and have answered all my questions with complete satisfaction. Our basic certification class was such a positive experience, especially for someone that was nervous about being underwater so deep and nervous about marine life. Gary was our instructor and he has a great personality and enough knowledge and experience, that I felt safe at the open water dives. With each class it was less intimidating, but I liked knowing that if I needed more time to feel like I could safely dive, it wasn't an issue to wait another weekend or dive with another class. My fiance found Dive Pros while researching places in Pensacola for me to do my open water dive. We live in Ga and I had completed all my school/pool work here. I would be coming to them as a referral student to complete the open water part of my certification process. I was nervous at first being that they were new people that I had not met nor worked with before. However, once at the shop my nerves quickly went away. They are hands down the kindest people I have meet. They were very knowledgeable, outgoing and helpful. Gary Toms was my instructor for my dives and he was OUTSTANDING!! Very fun to work with. Their prices are also amazing. For open water dives, as well as items in the shop. My fiance and I both bought several things with them before our return to Ga. These guys are great. I was in town for a couple of months for work, and used that opportunity to get my scuba diving certification. I took a 2 weekend dive class with Bob to get certified, and he was an awesome instructor. Very knowledgeable and easy to learn from. The shop was also great in helping me pick out a mask, snorkel and fins. I would definitely buy stuff, take a class from or go diving with these guys again. read more
