LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! Doesn't look like much when you see it from the outside. Every time I go here I find shoes I love! Bought 5 pair one day! They even had a pair of P448s that seemed brand new and I got them for $75!!!! If you post a photo and tag them on IG, you get a discount!!! Nicely kept and organized store and decently on trend. BUT way overpriced. Secondhand Lululemon leggings for $60 (and not cute ones)??? Used clothing should always be for sale for less than half of the retail price, in my opinion. I would rather go shopping at Goodwill and spend $20 for several unique pieces than overspend here on 1 or 2 things. They also sell lots of very cheap quality jewelry at the same price as you would spend at a boutique. I've sold clothing here and you do not get paid nearly as much as you would expect. Okay, I have driven by this place several times and I wasn't quite sure what kind of a business it was. That Curiosity alone afforded me the time to stop in today and check it out. First of all I love the location. Hy-Vee is the biggest sign that stands out, but if you ride along you will see the ditto sign big as day towards the East End of the strip mall. It's decorated in a girly manner. Flowers and hearts and all the cutesy things that a girl would love to see when she's coming into the store. When you get inside...I love how clean, neat and well organized everything was. You could clearly see where the purses were, where the jewelry was, and the clothes were clearly visible. There was enough room between the Isles so that you weren't knocking over things as you were looking at items. Trust me that's been an issue in other stores. I saw other reviews that were pretty negative about the pricing in comparison to other thrift stores and to brand new products of the items themselves. My take on the pricing is that it was a little pricey, but it wasn't that bad. I've seen worse in other places. I think the only thing that gives me cause for concern is the shoes. I just have an issue with wearing shoes that somebody else had their stinky feet in. I've never been able to adjust to wearing other people's shoes. I just can't do it and that's just my pet peeve. But other than that, I pretty much like what I saw. The staff were 2 young ladies who were very nice...I never saw the old grandma another reviewer mentioned. I guess the gist of what I'm saying is, that there are so many options out there and ditto to me is just another option. If you're looking for something specific and you seen it in Ditto before...by all means go back and you can even haggle with them about the price to try to talk them down if you feel it's too pricey. There's no law that says you can't haggle over a price to get a better deal. But with there being so many options out there, if you don't like what you see, you can clearly go to other thrift stores that are more to your price liking. And there was one review that I read that was a little condescending. A woman claimed that ditto was of a different demographic and that it didn't appeal to all people. Unfortunately in 2019 it's sad to say that there are people who still judge you by your wallet and that wallet usually has a skin color other than green. This is precisely the reason why certain demographics stay away from certain businesses for fear of thinking people feel yhat way. it's so loss to the businesses because a business-like ditto has something for everyone. Fortunatley, this was a customer who diaplayed that mentality, not ditto. Let's just hope the lady who did that review is not an employee. read more

I love going to both Ditto locations in Overland Park so of course I decided to stop in at the one in Lawrence. After looking around, it started to feel like I was in an overpriced Salvation Army, not a higher end second hand clothing store. Half the items I shopped through had major holes or defects and yet were marked at full high end prices. The shoes are so grimy and dirty I wouldn't expect to find them at a dittos, more like something I would see at Goodwill. The whole store in general seemed very overpriced for the quality. read more

I found out about Ditto when I was looking for a consignment or resale boutique that wasn't low end, like Plato's Closet (Plato's Closet caters to teenagers, and the clothing was cheap when new, mostly from Wal-Mart and Debs at best). I was hoping to find a consignment shop in town, but this was even better - Ditto buys (very selectively) for cash or about 20% more for store credit. I found a few grungy pieces while I shopped but 98% of what I saw was is in excellent condition and is not wash-worn, and I think they must dryclean or steam clean everything before putting it out, because the shop itself smells like new clothes, like any other boutique - unlike Plato's Closet, which smells like a chainsmoker wearing Axe body spray. Plato's Closet only seems to recognize cheap brands. They're not going to give you fair trade for a leather bag, all of their bags and most of their shoes are made out of plastic pleather and they seem mystified by anything nice. Ditto gave me a fair valuefor my clothing/shoes/bags, and saved me the time of having to try to ebay things, or find a consignment store in KC and wait to see if things sold eventually. I think you can expect to get about 10-20% of your item's original retail value; they're going to sell it for 50-60% under original retail value, so they're covering all their operating costs on the relatively thin margin of what's left after they subtract what they pay you. So the Prada boots, you're going to get maybe 30-40 dollars for them and might do better on ebay, but ebay is a PITA. I've read the reviews saying the sales staff are snobby, rude, whatever - and I think that's not quite right, or at least not quite fair. They're weird and aloof and awkward because they're SUPER YOUNG. They're not comfortable interacting with adults yet and that's really obvious if you've spent any amount of time with people 18-24 (the age of most of my students). Yes, they look like adults, but they're not. They're basically teenagers, and having to hold a conversation with someone who is older than 40 makes them feel like they're coming down with Ebola. If they look at you like they're judging you, it's because they're still living in that horrible self-conscious adolescent world where they do judge others, and themselves, harshly and nearly constantly. Most of them seem to be interesting and introverted, not the kind of kid who is extroverted and P-E-P-P-Y. So don't get snippy with them because they haven't learned how to effectively kiss a stranger's butt yet (sorry, practice "customer service"), that hostility seems to come out of nowhere to them and it just makes them more feral and weird. Be kind. Remember what a hard time that was. And if you're interacting with an awkward millennial, thank your lucky stars you're not dealing with the extremely weird older lady with the big frizzy bun hair and the pinched face who works there sometimes, or used to. I haven't seen her in awhile, maybe she has moved on to being offputting somewhere else. If I had to deal with her every time I brought in a bag of things to have evaluated, I'd never go at all. read more

When I first stepped into Ditto, I was very pleased with the overall ambience and wonderfully organized racks. I knew that this was a higher end thrift store with a lot of name brands. However, after a long look at the entire stock I have to say that I was less than impressed. The pricing seemed way off to me, with stock from stores like Macy's and even JC Penney priced the same as many true designer and high end items. If I lived in the area, I am sure that my visits would be frequent as there would be an occasional "find" to make it worth my time. But for the most part, I wasn't impressed. The clothing selection is definitely the best part of Ditto, as the handbags were very dated and out of style and the majority of shoes and boots were too worn to justify purchase. read more

Seems like every time I go, I walk out with clothes I'm excited to wear, at prices I can actually afford. - Staff are personable and willing to hold the store open or reserve items for later purchase. - Store is brightly lit, neat, and well-organized, with enough space and between the racks for browsing. By contrast, Plato's Closet is crammed, close, and uncomfortable.) - Eight (!) dressing rooms, more than enough even when the store is full. - Wide selection of flattering items in sizes 4-8, the median sizes which are so often picked over at other stores. First of all, this is NOT a consignment shop. I have made decent money in the past selling through consignment, and I feel that's a better option. While browsing the racks here, I was very surprised by their prices. You can find similar items at TJ Maxx or Marshall's for the same price or LESS, and they haven't been worn! Made 3 trips out here to sell clothes and each time I went there was a sign on the door that they weren't buying. I checked their website and it said they bought until 30 minutes prior to closing and each time I went it was HOURS before closing time. Emailed the store to verify buying hours, and never got a response. Don't waste your time here. Go sell to Plato's. read more

I really used to like this store. I liked the deals, the variety, and the staff. Today *after* I bought $31 worth of clothes, I asked if there was a restroom and the nice young lady said they don't have restrooms for the public. She saw my look of surprise/incredulousness and said "but I think Chipotles next door will let anyone use theirs". Here's the thing. I just spent money there. I am a middle aged lady that is obviously not going to mess up their restroom and washes my hands. Seriously, they won't let their own customers use their restroom?? I have a profoundly different relationship with this store than do the two reviewers before me. For starters, I would never begin to compare Ditto with TJMaXX or Marshall's because the customer demographics these store cater to are not really related to Ditto's target audience. The brands at Ditto are on a very different retail echelon. MaXX and Marshall's serve up low-end "luxury" clothes that aren't fashion-forward enough to sell in brand-name retail locations. Ditto, on the other hand, offers some truly high-end goods, at ULTRA-affordable prices. I mean, COME ON! Last month I bought mint condition Prada and Marc Jacobs in current styles, and at least 80% cheaper than off-the-rack retail. They are super picky about quality of merchandise. I've sold a few things there, but some items I've brought in were rejected for looking "worn." I wasn't thrilled, but I understood their point; While that's a bummer for a seller, it's fabulous for a buyer. When I shop there, I know that I'll walk out with a super-stylish find in GREAT condition for a GREAT price. If you don't care about class and quality, then stay at Plato's, and let serious shoppers have our little "secret". read more

Everytime I go in to sell clothes they give me some excuse of why the can't take any of my clothes. I have had not so great times at this store since they opened. Seems like it's all family or friends of the family working so of couse they work together and if your not wearing the top of brands they look at you like your not worth their time. I have sold clothes before and they low balled me everytime I went. I understand you have to make some kind of profit but SCREWING people over is not the best way to run a business! read more
