Favorite hidden gem of a salon in SLO! It's the Main Street of downtown but not in the dead center where parking is hard to get. I've been going to Ryan for the last few years and although I'm leaving SLO soon, I plan on making appointments when I visit! Ryan has such a good eye on what a client's hair needs and how it will look great. I usually go in with no direction but tell him what type of service I want and he always does an amazing job. It's a comfortable, quiet cute little salon that isn't like a lot of salons that try to be Instagramable. Length of getting my hair done is always reasonable as well as price. When I got here I struggled to find someone just as good, went to a local place not far from the 7/11 on Monterrey and every time I was left disappointed, but wait! I came into the salon with my hair being dried and in need of a trim or to be fixed up and left with my hair feeling lighter and soft. Amazing job. The salon also was adorable. I absolutely love this place. The hairstylists are always so nice and skillful. I love the whole process and always love the final product. It is more expensive then a cheapo place like super cuts, but its sooo worth the money. You get personalized treatment and a super awesome head massage. This salon was recommended by a friend. I called and got an appointment the same day with Dave. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted and he worked with that. I just knew I liked lots of layers and a more choppy kind of look. He did an awesome job, was friendly, cool and nonjudgmental of me usually cutting my own hair. I love my new haircut! This salon is transgender friendly!! Because I am trans, I have had many uncomfortable experiences at salons. Dave treats me like any other girl. I always leave feeling extra confident because he's so encouraging and positive. He knows what he's doing and I always love what he does with my hair. He also never tries to sell me any products. A standard haircut is $60 which is pricey for me, a college student, but it's absolutely worth it. read more

I have met Allie through my girlfriend here and she is the sweetest so I gave it a whirl. And she absolutely exceeded my expectations. I could not be more happy with the way it turned out. It was a very bold and new cut for me so the fact that I am so happy with it speaks volumes. I love this place and Joshalynn is wonderful! It's easy to feel intimidated because all the girls are beautiful and very stylish but they are so nice and friendly and down to earth once you get to know them. I have an above the shoulder hair cut and I can be hard to please when it comes to my hair but I love the way she cuts my hair. She also does my color and it's wonderful! It was my first time trying District 96. It was the first salon I ran into walking from the main parking garage on Marsh, and it turned out to be a great place!! I got my hair cut and colored in a reasonable time and at a great price. I was happy that they could accommodate me on a busy Saturday with no appointment having been made. I totally love this salon!! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I can always get an appointment easily and never have to wait long. The salon decor is really nice and clean. They have super yummy cookies and drinks for the taking and good magazines. I love when I'm under the heater, but there's lots of good reading material around... and they always do! :) My stylist is MARY MOORE... She's done AMAZING things to my hair. I have VERY naturally curly hair that is hard to style and manage and she's shown me lots of great tricks to optimize my curls, including good products on the market, how to style it better, and she cuts it in a way that makes my hair fall beautifully. Katrina is awesome! Really knows what shes doing and very friendly. She gave helpful tips along the way to keep my hair healthy. This first time she cut my hair she taught me how to curl it correctly after my cut, free of charge, and before my second cut, she did a free deep conditiong treatment on my hair. I love my long hair and wanted to keep as much length as i could so she trimmed it up and spend the extra time to "dust" my layers so it hardly took any length. Shes really sweet, gives great scalp massages while shampooing your hair, and you get complementary cucumer water (or other beverages) and cookies! Overall a great place and the staff has fun with eachother. I have only had experience w Katrina, and will likely stick with her because she been so great, but from what I have seen from the rest of the staff, you would be lucky to get any one of these stylists! read more
