I had many visits and so I had interactions with just about everyone in the office and they are all so nice and comforting. So the long of it... During my first consultation with Dr. Spoor I was unsure of what he could even do for me. My teeth were fine, sure I had a few spots on my front two but they had always been there. I had had the Zoom whitening done before so the spots were less noticeable. I was kind of thinking lets do some Invisalign (my teeth were pretty much straight) and redo the whitening and I will be happy. Dr. Spoor and I talked, he took some molds of my teeth and set up an appointment to talk about our options a week or so later. At the next appointment I was blown away. He had obviously put some thought into what my teeth could be. He had a few options we talked through, from not very much work to a lot more work. We decided on somewhere in the middle. I wish I could attach pictures of the before and after but I honestly get compliments on my smile all the time and no one ever thinks I have 8 veneers... Dr. Spoor is just that good! My new teeth fit my mouth and life perfectly. Plus I had little to no pain throughout the entire process. I know others that had gotten veneers and had lots of trouble but not if Dr. Spoor is the man doing the work! While most people hate going to the dentist I was actually sad when my process was over (consultation to final appointment about 6 months) because everyone there is great and I actually had fun even when I was in the dentist chair for hours!! I still go back for my cleanings and recommend the office to anyone that even mentions the dentist!

Procedure at Dental Specialties Feb 2023: One star is generous. Was called by the front office…read moreadmin 10 days before the procedure - she let me know that DSNW had decided to no longer be a provider in Delta Dental Insurance Provider program, but not to worry as "these things" take months before the Delta Dental Insurance updates their provider listings, so what i had budgeted was to be fine. Day of appt - prior to start of procedure - I was given the total to pay upfront, which was the total for a provider NOT in the Delta Dental Insurance program. I paid in full (no choice) and was over charged by several hundred $ as my invoice contained a sedative I did not receive. During my 2 follow up visits (in Feb) - there still was never a check waiting for me at reception. Long story short - my refund still as of 4/30/23 has never been mailed or auto deposited into my checking. My emails asking for the status are either ignored or given a cursory dismissive statement. My claim is underway with the WA State Dental Board.

Dr. Shaw recognizes my anxiety and does everything to help put me at ease. He explains everything he is about to do before doing it (because my anxiousness is also fueled by the need to know what is happening at each step). He has a very gentle and calm energy about him as well, which helps further to put me at ease. Not once has Dr. Shaw put me in pain or discomfort. Incredibly accommodating and professional...but also a great "bedside" manner. The hygienists including Victoria, Solmaz and Nicole are all so friendly and welcoming, and they really take good care of their patients. The office manager, Ana, is so accommodating and flexible ...something that I have greatly appreciated. The bottom line for me is that this office clearly cares about their patients which is so important for someone who has dental anxiety...and although it seems like a simple ask, humanity has been removed from many businesses and services it seems. Thank you to everyone at this office for taking care of my teeth as well as my anxiousness!

From the minute you walk in you are greeted with smiles and genuine greetings, after always a very brief wait the person that does your cleaning is nice, prompt and takes a lot of pride in their craft! By the time you see one of the Nomi's they always remember the last conversation you had with them and want to know how you're doing, again it feels like they actually care. They look at your X-rays and teeth and never act or seemed rushed, they take the time to let you ask questions and give you simplified answers that don't make you feel dumb! If you want whitening trays or something like that, if your a current patient I'm sure they'll find a way to give you a deal. Even when there is a billing situation (it's still a dental office and insurance companies) the lady in the billing office (next to the front desk) is so sweet and helpful you never feel like they are trying to take you for your last cent. Great office made up of great people. All good at there jobs and take great pride in that fact while still being from all account great people!

Dr. Taggart's hygienist gave me a cleaning and took x-rays and told me that root planing in my case was excessive and that there was no trace of gum disease. My gums hadn't even bled when she cleaned. Dr. Taggart confirmed her diagnosis took the time to explain why my gums had receded a bit but what the difference was between gum disease and normal recession. He also told me that many dentists are over-zealous and excessive in their treatment. He didn't say this, but the phrase, "drill, fill, and bill" came to mind regarding the previous dentist I had. It was refreshing to have another dentist, who had 10 more years of experience than the other, be honest with me and offer a conservative approach that didn't lead to me treatment I didn't need. Also, the office was clean and didn't smell like latex or gross fake strawberry paste, always a plus for a dental clinic. Disclosure: I am an in-law but wasn't at the time I received service.

In fact, I wrote a book Open Wider Your Wallet not your mouth: a consumers guide to dental care. I got 1600 hate mails from dentists for exposing the over treatment that happens in some dental offices. My guess is this review was written by a dentist who was mad because I exposed that fact that he was an over treater. If you go to a dentist who advertizes in magazines, on TV, on billboards along with other marketing tricks, you had a high risk of being taken advantage of. I hold 4 fellowships 2 diplomate certifications and lecture at 3 dental schools. I have done insurance reviews for the last 19 years preventing dentists from over treating. I would hardly risk loosing that to do a couple of fillings that are not needed.
