Wow! No that's what I call a clothes shop/boutique. Disorder used to be based in The Arcadian, and it was legendary then. It has moved since to Needleless Alley, just off New Street in the centre of the City, or as we Brummies like to call it, Town. Disorder has won countless awards for its Menswear and Women's clothing lines over the years. It has also won an award for the best in Birmingham for independent businesses'. The longevity of Disorder is wholly attributable to maintaining a contemporary edge to their post modern, abstract clothing designs. Disorder has its own menswear and woman's clothing label, the tailoring is groundbreaking in its design. All of the clothes sold there are made in Birmingham by the talented Disorder design team. Think Cyber dog meets Gucci meets Nigo and you are not even half close to the awe-inspiring clothes that occupy the rails of Disorder. The artistry incorporated in Disorders clothing designs should belong in a gallery and for this reason, Disorder have framed the best of their works they have produced. These are now on sale in store and online, and as a result the talent of these artworks have become exponentially recognised throughout certain creative communities. Birmingham wouldn't be the same without Disorder, it was revolutionary in the Arcadian and is legendary now in their centrally located shop. I've always felt confused by this boutique, from it's chalkboard sign and brand name I've often walked by it thinking it was an independent Blue Banana type shop. Yay for independent and yay for alternative. I've regularly looked in the window admired a few pieces but haven't felt it's for me. Whilst it doesn't tick all my boxes, especially as I feel they have a stronger commitment in developing their men's line over the ladies, what I would say is it's an alternative to All Saints. With similar pricing and a deconstructed sensibility to the designs, one thing you can say by choosing Disorder over All Saints is that you won't see a million clones when you go out. Be distinct, buy a locally designed item, stand out from your mates and it won't cost you more than you'd have spent anyway. read more

Disorder is a shop that Birmingham can really be proud of. Hidden in Needless Alley (I know, great name right?) it's a completely independent brand which designs and makes all of it's garments in the City. Disorder mainly caters for an alternative/fashion conscious crowd by producing amazing unique clothing, with many pieces as "one-off's". The shop itself sells the Disorder clothing as well as ranges from other local and independent designers. You're not going to find anything boring in this little gem of a business. I'll straight up admit that not all of the clothes cater to my particular tastes, but I have bought fantastic belts, prints and presents from them. The t-shirt designs are particularly outstanding and ooze Japan-chic. Although many of the pieces in here aren't cheap (jackets and trousers can be between £100 - £200), every garment is lovingly made and the quality really shines through. They also do fantastic sales and promotions (giveaways etc), so it's worth keeping an eye on their website and social media channels to stay in touch with the brand. So... In summary... If we had more establishments like Disorder, Birmingham would be known around the world for its independent clothing stores. The multi award winnings store offers clothes for both men and women and is all designed by the stores own team of designers, nothing you see is mass-produced. Located near Snowhill station down Needless Ally the whole shop makes you feel cool and instantly involved with the designs, and every time I have been in there it's felt a little different as if the shop is constantly evolving. The style of these clothes is a mix between punk and high fashion and none of it would look out of place on a high end run way, some of the cuts in the men's section alone are some of the best I've ever seen. Staff are friendly and the whole experience is laid back, prices can be quite high but your essentially buying art, and it's not like your goings see other people walking in around with your new purchase on. read more

I love this little shop full of quirky locally made clothes and accessory designs. It's very hard not to buy so in a way it's good that it's just off New Street and I don't walk past it every day! Because they concentrate on local designers they just stock a few of each item (as mainstream designers tend to) as it's my worst nightmare (no, really it is) to walk into a room and someone is wearing the same thing, this helps. There are also bags & accessories and good selection of menswear too. In addition the shop always has flyers of the events around the city plus check out their website for the great artwork they sell too! read more
