My kids were here for about 3 years. We went through Team 1, 2, 3, and TK! We've done it all, and I can't recommend it strongly enough. I felt like it was a privilege my kids got to be at such a great school with teachers who genuinely give their all and love the kids. They are all wonderful, with some of them being so magical they feel like something out of a storybook. My older child had been in an accredited Montessori school prior to Discovery, and he ended up being very behind academically. Not only did his teachers from Team 3 (pre-k) and TK flag the issue early on, they also put in extra time to try and help get him caught up. This was their personal time they gave him when they could have gone home or probably enjoyed a slightly longer break. My kids learn SO much here and they have fun doing it. It's play based, but the kids learn and love to learn. The enrichments that they offer and are included in the program, mostly funded through the DSPA, are second to none. And the community at the school is fantastic. The more you take part in school functions and volunteer, the more you'll feel the community. Leaving the school is so hard, not just for us, but for lots of families, because it's just the best. Most families go on to "top tier" private schools, and some do public schools, but I would say the public school families are a much smaller portion of the school. We never felt like anybody judged our choices one way or another. Eyde runs the school, and keeps it running like a well-oiled machine. She always listens to parents when they come to her and treats everybody with warmth and kindness. She also is there to help guide you if you want to go the private school route, so you end up at the school that is right for you. She's incredibly knowledgeable in this department. And last but not least, the campus. It's huge! A friend of mine referred to it as feeling like something out of Willy Wonka. They have slides, monkey bars, play structures, swings, a meditation yurt (it sounded ridiculous to me when I first saw it, but my son did come home and meditate so judge for yourself), a petting zoo (If I remember correctly there are miniature ponies, a pig, birds, and tourtises) etc... There is so much room for them to run and play, and they never get bored of it. There was never a day that went by where I worried about my children's safety, whether or not they were learning, or if they were having fun. My kids were full-time students and stayed for extended care. They spent almost as much time with my kids as I do, and I'm glad my kids got to spend that time with them. We drove almost 30 minutes each way to take our kids to go to Discovery, and I would do it all over again. If you're lucky enough to snag a spot at the school, take it. It's worth every penny! read more

We went here for parent and me classes and moved it! Teacher Brenda is just the sweetest. And so is teacher Justyne! The campus is so beautiful and my son loves the farm and there's so many different playgrounds. They're a very creative school! I chose this school even though it was a fisher drive than others because my son loves it so much! read more

We absolutely love discovery. My older son who's 6 now went there for all 3 years and now my younger one is in his 2nd year there. I always joke and say I wish the school would go to HS bc I would literally leave my kids there their entire school career lol. We have had such a great experience there and have nothing but amazing things to say about this school! The teachers are amazing and each year we have been so happy. My kids have grown so much from this school and I'm truly grateful for such a great experience. When my older son left and graduated he was beyond ready for kindergarten. Best Preschool ever. The director. The teachers. The equipment. The events. The only thing I would change is the size of the parking lot:) I travel 20 minutes each day to get to this preschool although there are so many local preschools none of them compare. At some point in the next five years I will have 3 of my children attending here. Some of my best mom friends were made at their mommy and me. They have a great program that allows you to go twice weekly at 16 months so your child really becomes prepared for the school with your support. read more

I cannot wait to send my second soon in the spring of next year once he is old enough to attend. We love Discovery School! It is a great fit for our family. When I toured the school, I absolutely fell in love with the campus. It's magical. So much space for the kiddos to run around. They constantly have entertainment they bring in for the kids. Everyday is an exciting day. I love the teachers and trust them with my kids. I know they are loved and cared for when in their care. The administration has been great as well. Always respond to emails right away and answer any and all concerns. The parent community is great too! It feels like one big family. Fantastic Pre-School! The Admin. The Teachers. The Campus and most of all the kids and the kids parents. It's a diverse group, yet with similar goals. My 3.5 yr old son was bored at his regular school and in the mornings didn't want to go and wasn't happy. We switched to Discovery for the summer and now in the mornings all he wants to do is go to school and is so excited to go....he even wants to go on the weekends. From the swimming and events to the projects and activities, my son is so HAPPY. Only downsides are the parking and class sizes, but the school has a solution (drop off and 2 teachers) for both that handles it pretty well. Now my wife and our 18 month son also joined the mommy and me classes and both are enjoying it too. We're fortunate the school is in scooter/walk/bike distance and that we moved from Playa Vista to the Valley for schools like this. I'm OCD, ADD and everything else in between and my wife and I are super happy with Discovery. Hopefully one day both my sons will be going to this same school full time. I highly recommend Discovery to everyone. read more

This school has an incredible campus.. pool, garden, abort, small petting farm and large yards in a quiet residential area. However, aside from a couple of really great young teachers.., the rest of the staff has been there for way too long and need to retire immediately. They're not growing as teachers, continue to do the same outdated curriculum year after year, some very unprofessional and talk negatively about the kids in front of them, very much a teacher directed program and not at all play based as they try to claim to be. The owners and admin operate this place like a business not a school and it shows! read more

We wanted so badly to love this school, and we did until about 2 months into the school year. It's now January, and we will finish the year, but then we will leave as fast as possible. The administration and teachers aren't very helpful, we have had now two incidents of our TWO YEAR OLD being targeted by other parents from her class, other parents reporting to the school what is on our social media (this family was at an airport this morning, we saw it on social media, you need to make sure they don't come back to school for 2 weeks! Note: the picture was weeks old.), and when pleading to the head of the school and teachers for help we have been ignored, and they have shown preference to a mean girl group of bored mom housewives that seem to take pleasure in bullying a toddler. It's incredibly disappointing, and at the price point of this school (1300 a month for 3 half days!), I expect a higher level of problem solving and professionalism than what has happened. I think the school is great, as long as you end up in the preferred group of parents, as long as you never try to advocate for your child, and as long as you Never, Ever disagree with the people in charge. If this isn't you, then there seems to be a high price to pay, and not just monetarily. read more

My son is starting his second year at Discovery School and I couldn't be happier with the level of care and the education. He attends preschool and after school care 5 days a week. Although structured with an emphasis on early childhood development, I feel there is a great balance including friendship, play, fun and creative activities. A few things I particularly like: -they are aware of development milestones, and check in with parents twice during the school year -they provide cool activities like puppet shows or visits from the fire department in their trucks -the campus is big, with a lot of room to spread out. There are a few different outdoor play areas to separate the kids by age, a live animal farm and a pool that is open during the summer with swim lessons offered as an add on. -there are also veggie and flower gardens everywhere that the kids participate in taking care of, it has made my son a little more passionate about vegetables -the art projects the kids do are awesome, and I love how creative and excited the teachers get....that's something I'm trying to pick up ;) -my son has a speech therapist, and the school is very accommodating to her visits -they have a lot of social activities for families, including a grandparents day and although I may not participate a ton, I appreciate the opportunities -once or twice a month they will keep the school open on Friday nights until 10 or 11 for parents night out as an add on -they take/share A LOT of pictures! Finally, I love that my son knows all of the teachers, not just his own....it's a very loving environment. The office staff is also very courteous and receptive. There have been areas of frustration around a busy parking lot or the inevitable winter cold season, though always resolved with professionalism and fairness. read more

My son has been going here 4 months so far, starting out in the youngest class. So far we really love this place. His teacher is sweet and caring and wonderful with him. His room is nice, with lots of toys, and they have tons of special activities each week. He got to check out a fire truck, wallaby, puppies, a police car, and so many other things I can't even keep track of them. Their play areas are fantastic, with seperate sections for different ages. They have a beautiful back area, with a garden, and an amazing set of animals, all very healthy and well cared for. Birds, chickens, turkeys, bunnies, and I think some larger animals like a llama or horse, cow, and a pig that the kids get to come out and pet. They're very attentive, and I feel the school is well secured with locked gates and buzzers, and they seem to keep good track of the kids. Their regular events and picnics are also a lot of fun. I think he learns a lot, and whenever I see him there he's happy and having a good time. Literally the only thing I can say bad about this place is the price is a little high, but I also don't feel like any of that is wasted, and honestly you really do get what you pay for. I can't imagine going anywhere else until it's time for Kindergarten. read more

We can't say enough about this wonderful school. Our two grandchildren are thriving, learning, and so happy every day to go to school. This school is the total package. Learning through creativity sums it up. All teachers know every child in the school by name! My 3 year old son starting going to Discovery when he was 18 months. The reason I decided on Discovery, besides all the great things I heard about it, is that they have a mommy-and-me transitional program. You don't just drop your child off one day! lol. The first 2 terms (until 24 months) I went with him and participated (i'm very hands on obviously). My son got a chance to get used to the school, staff, and overall environment. When it was time, I was able to leave him and it was seamless. He loves it there. They have a farm (with animals), various play areas, a pool which they use during the summer months, and most importantly GREAT TEACHERS. Its a wonderful community of parents. We are so grateful to our daughter's preschool and her wonderful teachers and staff. Our daughter has become a social butterfly and feels safe, loved and secure in who she is. Every time we drop her off she is excited to participate in the day's activities and every time we pick her up, she does not want to leave. The moment we stepped foot on the grounds we knew that this was the right school for her. Everything is new. All the toys and books that we see are brand new. The building looks so clean and beautiful. Honestly, it is a resort for children. Very open with plenty of room to explore and have fun. Our child transitioned with ease and without a tear. On Friday my daughter finished 2 months of summer camp at discovery, anyone who tours the facility will fall in love immediately, however prior to sending her there i was a little worried that she wont get the same love and affection as she did in her reg school, that the language will be a problem for her (she didn't speak english) and that with so many kids shell get lost there, i was also terrified that they let them in the pool with no floaties, since she didn't know how to swim, I quickly learned that aside from being a beautiful unique facility the staff is absolutely amazing!!! Patty & Michelle were her teachers whom i completely adore, their class was pretty full (over 20 kids) Never once did i see the out of control chaos that happens in other schools, they were professional and loving, they were very much disciplined yet they were playful and affectionate towards the teachers. My daughter learned english in her first few weeks, by the last day of camp she spoke english to me on a daily basis! Jordan and Nathan are the swimming instructors, and after a few times of sticking around to "spy" i left my daughter in the pool with them and her teachers and always felt safe! I cant say enough about this school, Norma and Nelson the chefs in the kitchen are the sweetest! The entire staff is in my heart! I highly recommend Discovery school to everyone, i wish they had an elementary school, and i wish other centers/schools would learn from them! read more

Both my girls grew into themselves and I give the credit to this school. I've been there for five years and both my kids loved it. When they graduate it's very hard to say goodby. Eyde McAllister is the director and she has been nothing less than amazing to both my girls and I. Teachers really indulge themselves into their work with the children. Both my kids went to this preschool and not only was it a wonderful experience for them it was also a wonderful experience for me. The director Eyde is fantastic, as are all the teachers. The school has several playgrounds and areas for different types of play, and the school is a nice mix of academics and developmental. There is plenty of space for the child to be a child but they also prepare them very well for kindergarden. They have a small farm on the property, where they have chickens, rabbits, doves turtles, goats and even a baby cow. They also have vegetable gardens where the kids learn to grow plants. It's really a wonderful school, both my kids are in elementary school now, but they talk about wanting to go back and visit discovery and how much they loved their teachers. Our daughter has been attending Discovery school for the last 2 1/2 years and we couldn't be happier! It's her home away from home where she feels safe, nurtured and loved. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with different play areas for each age group. We have a farm and a vegetable garden that the children visit weekly for gardening and farm lessons. Lunch is cooked on the premises by the school's chef. Each classroom is fully stocked with educational material and, as of this year, they have opened a computer lab and a science center. Discovery School is a wonderful community where parents become friends and the children are one big family. The Parents Association is actively involved in organizing events, field trips, school visits and shows. Children have plenty of play time as well as academics and we feel very confident that our daughter will enter kindergarten well prepared. Teachers are caring and loving. The staff is attentive and Eyde, the director, has the well being of our children at heart. We have only 6 months left at Discovery School and we will miss it! Discovery School is amazing. After researching every well known preschool in the Valley, I enrolled my daughter in the Toddler & Me program and she blossomed beyond my wildest dreams. She is now 4-yrs old and loving every minute. The teachers are dedicated, loving and extremely competent. The Director is very hands on, has an open door policy and knows every child by name. The facility is huge with several playgrounds, a fabulous farm, and bright and open-feeling buildings. The Parent Association does a great job bringing in extra educational opportunities each year. My first daughter attended 3 years of preschool and 1 year at the TK program. My second daughter will start her last year at Discovery in September. The grounds and classrooms are amazing. They have a little farm as well as a garden and there are several playgrounds for the kids to play in. They have a pool that is used during the summer and they offer swim lessons during this time too! They always have fun new activities every day, and the parents association allows parents to be involved as much as they want. By far the best part of Discovery is the staff. The teachers, classroom aides and support staff are all amazing and they are led by the director, Eyde, who is highly involved with activities throughout the day. A school is only as good as its leader, and Eyde is certainly an amazing leader. As a parent, if I had any concerns, they listened and worked with me to resolve it. Every teacher knows my girls and says hi to them when we are walking in each morning. Every day I leave my children knowing that they will be happy and safe. I couldn't have asked for a better school! read more
