When my mom needed help sometimes, she had to wait, once for 1 1/2 hours just to use the restroom. When a CNA is on break or with another patient there is no coverage even when other CNA's are doing nothing. Upon leaving, my mom said she needed to use the restroom and the CNA said I just took her. I told them it was a 45 minute ride back to Thousand Oaks but they did not care. I drove with my mom upset the entire way Luckily, when we arrived at the assisted living they found a wheelchair and 2 of their people took my mom immediately to the bathroom. The food at Northridge looked disgusting although my mom ate it. Sometimes I brought her food. This facility is understaffed and needs remodeling before I would ever recommend it!!

There is a pretty bad language barrier on the 3rd shift. I was in there for knee replacement surgery and a couple of the CNAs during the night shift didn't under the phrase ICE PACK. Communication is pretty bad with two of the nurse supervisors. I won't mention them by name, but I think it's time for them to find other work. One of them almost made me miss a very necessary surgery and didn't bother to let me know that they were having problems faxing information over to the surgery center. I was having problems with a very loud neighbor across the hall, and the weekend night nurse supervisor said that if I didn't like it that I could go elsewhere. Apparently, she got written up for that. We did not speak after that. On the whole, the staff tries to do the best they can under the understaffing circumstances. Some of the CNAs are golden. The nurses are unbelievably giving with the brief time they have to offer. The housekeepers do a terrific job. The kitchen staff was very helpful. The monthly "candlelight dinners" were pretty cringe and while they're trying to do something special, I found myself wanting to leave every ten minutes. I think they went with the most mobile people. Pro tip: lose the Karaoke. Sweet gal who tries her best, but no. Just. No. I shared the bathroom with the patients next door. Both staff and the patients next door walked in on me doing my business more times that I care to remember. If you're going to see the show, buy a damn ticket! LOL. Or... learn to KNOCK. It's not that hard to raise your fist to the door. Unless you're missing a hand or something, then kicking is entirely appropriate. The Physical Therapy team was terrific. They went above and beyond. They recently had their yearly inspection from the City of LA. They ranked a 3. According to the people I spoke to who were in charge of the inspection, Northridge is one of the better Nursing Homes in the area, and that scares me. I did my best to treat everyone there with kindness and respect. I saw Alzheimer's up close with some of the patients. A stroke patient screamed like a siren. The patient across the hall from me is verbally abusive to the staff and they have to just shut up and take it. During the final days of my stay there I was this close to letting the bully have it. Now that I have had a chance to decompress, They did the best they could do with the resources they were given. I would not go there, however, if you have been injured or are recovering from surgery. I had knee replacement surgery and there was no structured plan in place to help me to get from point A to point B except to go to Physical Therapy. So I was on my own.

This review is 20 years too late but worth the read. If you want results, go to Beth! I will simply…read morecopy and paste excerpts from the letter I recently wrote to Beth after my son's college graduation. Dear Beth, You worked with our son around 2005-2006, between the ages of 20 months and 3 years old. I have memories of you and my husband chatting about your father's time at the Naval Academy - my husband is also a graduate. And who could forget those little chips you used to use to encourage my son to talk? Well, they worked! We will never forget your ability to connect with our son and work your magic, without labels, without judgement. Thinking back to when we first came to see you, it was such a challenging time. I had become a shell of myself after numerous "experts" hinted that something might be wrong with my son- though no one explicitly said "autism," we knew that's what they were implying. Our son was in what felt like endless therapy sessions - physical, speech, occupational, group, you name it - with no progress. We felt strongly that many of these therapies weren't the right fit for him, but any concerns we raised were dismissed. It was heartbreaking, and we felt like our son was being treated as a lab rat. Deep down, we believed he was fine, but as first-time parents, we felt lost and didn't know what to do about his lack of speech. Then we found you. After a brief assessment, you assured us that speech therapy was the primary need and referred us to one of your trainees. But I remember begging you to see him personally. Despite your incredibly long waitlist, you graciously agreed, opening your doors half an hour early twice a week just for him. Now, 20 years later, our son is a graduate of the USC Annenberg School of Communication, with a major in Journalism and a minor in Sports Media. His goal is to be an on-air broadcaster, and he's already working in the field. It seems he's certainly found his voice and will be talking for a living! Over the years, we've often thought of you and have shared our gratitude with everyone we know. You truly saved us from what felt like an impossible situation. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do.

We looked for a Licensed Speech Therapist that would not only work with higher level speech therapy needs but also with simplistic ones as well, somewhere where you could feel the sense of care in there practice (like family) from someone who truly connected and embraced kindness and a feeling of empowering children with disabilities. From the first look at Sharons Web page and yelp i knew she was someone different and that there was meaning with a life dedicated to her practice. I thought if someone like this exist she must have a great staff. Through out the time we began January 2020 Till January 2021 our 5 now 6 year old son made extraordinary progress. Our son is not the easiest to get to focus. Sharons staff had no problem with using unique assignments, hands on activities and techniques to bring attention to focus to be able to adapt and make progress with all his challenges with I would not hesitate to meet or talk with Sharon She is a Shining Light in a Field where Knowledgable and Empowered Speech Therapist are far and few in between. Below is a picture of our son receiving his certificate of Progress. Thank you Thank you I hope this review speaks to someone looking for a One of a Kind Speech Therapist
