They have scheduled walk throughs about four times a week since moved in 6 months ago , charged for broken toilets that were broken when moved in , and constantly are coming in with petty excuses to disrupt lives of everyone living in house .... if you don't mind never being able to use your own home because they are constantly coming in then this is the place to throw your money away .... walking people around your home in a pandemic with no masks on and in a college campus rampant with covid cases . I know a person who rented from them. when the lease was up i went thru and cleaned up the entire place. It looked a lot cleaner than when he moved in. Days later a Jason Krueger of Discovery stated that the house was a mess and tried to give the person a $6000 bill. That bill doesn't include the $1500 security deposit that he already took. This house had lead paint. It had rats that you can hear run thru the insides of the walls. If you move in with a burmese python you will have plenary of food for it if you simply knock a hole in the wall. I talked to four different tenants of discovery. Not one got their security deposit back. You won't either. No one gets their deposit back. They scare the young adults by threatening them with lawsuits. Most pay him something. If I could give this company a negative star I would. To begin, when we moved in there was a broken window that was not repaired for about 3 weeks after we had already been living there. Not to mention a huge hole in the ceiling that was also not repaired for weeks. They nickel and dime every little thing and charged us for blinds that were broken when we had already moved in. Do not rent from discovery properties. They have far too many properties to manage, and not enough staff/resources. They are horrible at communicating what you need to do as a renter, and the customer service staff are often rude and abrasive. Our house was an absolute shit hole and they refused to fix the major problems that we had, and then charged us $75 EACH to "clean" our house after we moved out, even though we thoroughly cleaned every room, and considering the house was not that clean when we moved in. They also charged us a $200 "lawn care" fee and we only saw them mow the lawn one (1) time, and there was glass littering our yard, which didn't seem to concern them. Rented a house from them and on move in day the house was absolutely disgusting and you could tell they didn't even walk through it before we moved in. They make so much money off of college students you think the LEAST they could do is make sure the houses are clean for move in. They also don't respond ever. I rented two different properties through Discovery and there are many things they did that were horrible, but I think the thing that really sums up how terrible they are is that they SOLD the building I lived in while I lived there with no warning or notification. I know as the renter that they do not need my permission to sell the property, but it would have been nice not to find out by me trying to pay my next instalment of rent just to find out that I couldn't log into my online profile. I had to go to their physical office location to be told basically that 'the owners sons made their own company, so you pay them now'. But there are so many other things I could talk about and I wasn't the only one either, Discovery was widely known and hated on campus. read more

I would not recommend this realtor to any college student!! They never answer their phones and it leaves me forced to go in to their office. When there were problems with my house it took MONTHS for them to send someone to fix the problem and it still wasn't solved. They are rude and only want to take advantage of college students to take their money. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a company. read more

THE scumlords of Oshkosh. Rented a studio apartment from them for three years. In the middle of my time there, I started getting mice. It was a pretty old building but the rent was cheap and I was in college. They refused to do anything until I reported them to the city. Once I purchased my own traps, I caught eight mice within 12 weeks -- DURING the summer. I had mice running all over me in my sleep, I could hear them in the walls. They chewed up a bunch of my clothes. There was a basement under my unit where they came from and it regularly flooded every time it rained. I had active mice for ten months before I quit catching them. Once I reported them to the city, they did end up doing a few things. They spray foamed the exterior as part of it, and left the globs without trimming. The building looks terrible. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Pay a little extra and move further from campus if you have to! Jason and Megan were the rudest people to deal with also. They outsource their maintenance now so it takes forever to get anything done. read more

Nice cozy home, updated kitchen; sweet house for a reasonable prize!! The people at Discovery Properties Management aren't so bad, they will work with you and if there's any problems with-in your property just let them know they will take care of the situation with-in that same week!!! Special shout out to the Property Manager for being a reasonable Down to Earth guy that will understand any situation you bring him! During the time that I lived in a property owned by Discovery, they were nothing but problematic. The customer service at the office was terrible. The front desk workers didn't seem to know anything or advise in any way on anything. The house was terrible. There was mold in the basement and after calling multiple times they still did nothing about it. We called about having mice and they never came to do anything. Our bathroom drain at one point was clogged and after calling everyday for 2 weeks the finally came to fix it and eventually fixed it another week later. Any time we contacted discovery, they were demeaning and rude. I would never live in another one of their houses. read more

Discovery Properties is absolutely horrible. I wish I could rate less than 1 star. Our Washer/Dryer did not operate properly, so we called to have to fixed...took about half a dozen calls to get someone there to "fix it." Then, still not fixed, took another half a dozen calls to "fix" again. Called multiple times about getting compensation for having our Washer/Dryer out of service for 2+ weeks while being "fixed" and still nothing. NOW, our washer and dryer, STILL NOT FIXED, is ruining our clothes, we added up how much clothes was ruined, totaling over $800 in ruined clothing items. The homes they rent are extremely poorly maintained. They are dangerous, and unfit for living within, and they are breaking many codes. The house I rented didn't even have a good lock on the front door in a bad area of Oshkosh. Then, when I decided it was too dangerous for my children and I to live there, they made up a bunch of charges. I left it cleaner than the pig sty it was when I moved in. Overall, stay away from these slum lords. They are awful. read more

They are all terrible run down college houses that are very overpriced. They never fix anything that is broken and don't give you back your security deposit, even when nothing is wrong. Customer service is terrible they do not help when you call or come in and ask for a favor or help. There was one point where our pipes were so messed up our own shit filled the basement. Lived under a property this company owns. I highly suggest you live somewhere else. They treat you poorly and are unwilling to help when you ask. They threatened to evict us twice when they had their paperwork incorrect. And they blamed us for existing problems in the house from before us living there. Where do I even being... Well for starters if you have anything that needs service expect to give them at least 3-4 calls or emails before they actually get back to you, after than expect at least 4 days for the maintenance guy to get there. The electricals in the house are despicable and probably not even passing code. I think only one of the outlets in the entire house had a grounding plug. After living in the house long enough we encountered the issue most tenants have at least once when leasing a place, tripping a breaker. Going down into the basement I located the box and was taken aback the internals were nothing like I had ever seen before, doing some research I found out that the kind of breakers they were... Pushmatic... If this is way over your head I am not surprised as they don't make the the fire starters any more, The failure rate is high enough to cause concern. Next we have the issue of vermin, now naturally animals want to get out of the cold in the winter and this can happen to any house. The way it was handled however was appalling, 70+ hours for a package of poison in the attic... I would be a lot less bitter about it if that fixed the situation but alas it did not, Almost everyone in the house heard squeaking coming from the ceiling, walls and floorboards. All other attempts to contact them on the issue were totally neglected. I can't say all the issues are true for every property these slumlords own but this was our experience. So students and parents of students, If negligence, vermin, and potential fire hazards sound like something you want to rent, by all means go right ahead. They will prove to you that their "professional" business practices are just like the properties they rent; an absolute joke. read more
