Rim Doctor - Damaged Rim

Rim Doctor

I had purchased some really good tires from Sam's Club. Suddenly, the air started coming out of one…read moreof the tires after four months of use they told me I might need a new rim or to have a repaired because they could not find the problem with the tire, but they said because I rode on it while it was flat two houses down the road to fill it up that I had damaged the side walls and the tire needed to be replaced. My mechanic recommended calling the rim doctor. Jose met me took the tire in very nice man and Mark was extremely nice as well. They checked the tire for leaks as Sam's club put it back on the rim and in the back of my van for me... So they checked the rim and they said we find no leaks no problem and I said well why did I lose pressure and then after filling it the next day the tire was completely flat? He said well if you want we can take the tire off and see if there's something wrong inside the rim and I said yes please. They took it off and showed me that there was no damage to the rim where the seal is made that it was in perfect condition, they cleaned off some of the excess old sealant. And then also said I don't know why they said the side walls are damaged on this this tire looks brand new and showed me the tire and explained everything to me. This means a lot because I'm a woman and many of these men that work in the Auto Repair treat me like I'm an idiot like I know nothing which is not true. I really appreciated the respect and time that Mark and Jose showed me and how they took me and showed me firsthand the tire and the rim and even recommended going to a different shop to have them do a dunk test on the tire which I did. I highly recommend this shop! It's rare to find such integrity and kindness these days.

Before going, I provided detailed photos of rim with slight curb scratches and was texted an…read moreestimate. Made the forty-five minute drive and when I arrived was quoted a higher price. Work was done and, let's just say, my expectations were clearly not met. Even from afar, the rim was noticeably not better; while before you could not really tell the scratch unless very close, the paint mismatch was now very apparent. Owner was argumentative and abrasive, although his son offered to charge half of the original estimate, which I declined and paid the full amount. What seemed lost on the owner was that the work was not what I expected. Could have/should have just left the rim as is or purchased a new rim for not much more, but lesson learned. My advice: know exactly what you're getting and don't have high expectations.

Restore to glory by Ben Rim Repair with their "touch up" service. Looks like an restoration but cost less than a complete paint or powder coat job. Thank! Joe B

I took my Mercedes-Benz there on September 15th to have scratches removed from two rims. Up to that…read morepoint, everything was perfect--the rims looked great. However, as soon as I left the shop, they removed the tires and never put air back in them. My car has Run-Flat tires, which can be damaged very easily when driven without proper air pressure. Thank God I turned around quickly. I had not washed my car until today, September 30th, and that's when I noticed that one of the tires was missing one of the special Mercedes-Benz wheel-lock nuts. I immediately went back to the shop to explain what had happened and ask where the missing lug nut was. The owner--I don't know his name--was extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Instead of trying to help me resolve the issue, he simply told me that he would "see if he could help me." The special lug nut was never found. Instead, he gave me a generic replacement that was not even remotely the correct Mercedes-Benz part. I would NEVER recommend this place. They do not respect their customers, and their employees are not careful when removing or reinstalling wheels. NEVER GO THERE.
