Discount Tire in Ft Gratiot has been helping me with my vehicle tires for 10+ years now. At first, they were rotating my tires. A couple years in, I purchased a full set of snow tires & wheels - which have been awesome now for 7 years. They change out my all season/snow tires/wheels twice yearly - for free! Staff have been awesome to work with. I always schedule my appointment and often they still run late. Of course, they are in the business of selling tires, so you will get that sales pitch. But they have always done quality work for me and treated this old lady really well. I can't speak for every location but the one in Ft Gratiot I recommend to anyone. read more

Scheduled service to fix a slow leak on tires that have about 30,000 miles on them and plenty of tread life. probably have another 15-20k before replacement. Was told they can't fix the tire and should be replaced immediately. Tried to tell me my car was doing certain things (because of the "bad" tires) when I haven't had a single issue. Also tried to scare me into buying a winter set. I just had these tires serviced less than 2 months ago at another discount and not a peep about any lingering issues. I had an exceptional experience at this location. I made an appointment online to replace my tires and was on a budget. From the moment I walked in at my appointment time, I felt taken care of. The staff were knowledgeable and dug deep to make sure that the tires I selected would meet my needs, then followed up by going above and beyond when doing the work. They were extremely communicative the entire time, which I appreciated. I will absolutely be returning to this location and will recommend them to family and friends. We made an appointment with this Discount Tire location for 2:15PM. When we arrived at 2:00PM, it was a slow day for this location. I thought GREAT, we will be in and out quickly. I will forever be a discount tire customer! Always great customer service! Yesterday I ran over something that punctured my tire. At 5 pm I tried the other closer tire place (Beltire) and they said they could not do anything until the next day, though it was only 5pm. I called Discount, and though they are at the other end of town , they agreed happily to fix my tire , even though they were very busy ! They stayed until my tire was fixed, 7 pm! I was headed for home (about 130 miles away) at 5:00 PM today after traveling in the Thumb when I decided to check my tire pressures. I had checked before I left in the morning, and they were all 33 PSI. This time, the front left tire read only 27 PSI. I was between Port Sanilac and Harbor Beach, and I knew that there was a Discount Tire in Port Huron. I called to ask how late they were open, and was told 6:00 PM. I told them what was going on with my tire, and that I might not be able to get there until a little after 6:00. He said they would take care of me when I got there. Luckily, the tire didn't lose any more pressure, and I managed to get there at 5:56. They checked my tire, and found a screw in the shoulder. They said that the tire couldn't be fixed. I had purchased tire damage coverage when I bought all new tires last month. They had the same tire in stock, and replaced the bad tire. I am very grateful to them for saying they would take care of me even if I got there a little late. Had they not done that, I may not have made it home without having to call AAA. My belt loosened on my front tire (this what they told me) had full warranty and 30.000 out of 50.000 miles. They asked me to pay the difference because they didn't have my tire there. They strongly suggested to get all new tires because out of 11mm new tire I had 6mm left. They said they would cover the one but the other three I would pay. I just those last year and paid almost $700 with all the hazards and warranty just to be safe on the road. Finally, the put a crappy one on after I refused to pay the difference. Now I've three tires with 20.000 miles left and a new tire on a four wheel vehicle with differential transmission. read more

Just can't say enough about these folks. Look, I'm not a "chain" guy - when possible, I prefer to shop local, and with small business owners. Discount Tire is my one exception. Here's why. I and my family were long time customers of Fetterley's Tires on Lapeer, and there was a reason: they had excellent customer service, never charged you for the "little stuff" that everyone else does, etc. Losing Fetterleys sent me to Discount...and again, they are the closest thing that I have found to that small business service feel. They have great rates, free water and coffee, an airy waiting room, and they've literally replaced tens of dozens of nails in my tires for FREE. They sit down and explain why a tire needs to be replaced (or doesn't), give you a heads up when wear is reaching a level you need rotation, or if you don't need replacement, they'll tell you, and not try and "up sell" like so many other tire stores. I can't say enough good things about my experience at discount tire this morning. I ordered four new tires online and had an appointment at 8 AM. My car had brand new tires two sensors and valves replaced and I was completely done by 8:33 AM. They set up a text system for me in case I wanted to walk to a nearby store. Which I did walk up to Meijer and grab a coffee came back, my car was done shortly afterwards. Cody is the gentleman that I dealt with the most through my experience. We had two previous phone conversation before my appointment and he is the one that called me about my sensor and valve needing to be replaced while I was at Meijer. I came in late (3:30p on a Tuesday) in the day, looking to fix a tire that was flat. The tire held air enough for errands and was still in good shape a couple of hours later. I showed up for the first time at the counter (first visit, one of the techs let me use their air pump to add air after the temperature dropped at the beginning of winter). The worst thing I can say is that it took an hour to get a tire fixed, or pretty much anything done, primarily because the store is busy (successful), as you would hope late in the afternoon. Customers were coming in or leaving as the work on their vehicles was being completed, everyone seemed to be in good spirits, I suspect because their expectations were being met: they were told that work would take x and it took x, it would cost y, and no one seemed unpleasantly surprised. In fact, several that I witnessed were pleasantly surprised about the work (not) done on their vehicle. My repair was completed slightly late. The object that caused my flat tire wasn't discovered until the second time through (under water). Rather than just pass it off, the tire was examined a 2nd time and put under water to locate the problem. This is my second visit, and as a new resident of the area, I think I've found myself a tire store! read more

UPDATE: I've changed it from 2 stars to 4 stars. The store manager made direct contact with me the same day I posted this review. He has restored my trust in Discount Tire. While I do not believe Social Media is the proper methodology for resolving a dispute, It was successful in this case. I have used Discount Tire stores nationwide for over 35 years. I will continue to use Discount Tire, just not sure about the Ft. Gratiot store. I have been to the Ft. Gratiot store 4 times in 4 weeks for the same problem. Discount Tire solicited this review by Invoice number! Because its a challenging answer, I don't expect you to allow it to be posted. If this Discount Tire survey is really to improve service. I expect a phone call, not a generic thank you email generated from your Web based dashboard. Friendliness gets 5 stars. Knowledge gets 2 stars for the first 3 mechanics. 5 stars for the 4th mechanic. 1. The check tire pressure indicator light on dash says low pressure. The air pressure was checked, and I was told to drive for a few days and the dashboard sensors lights will catch up 2. The check tire pressure indicator light STILL illuminated on dash says low pressure. Pressure rechecked and I was AGAIN told to go for a drive. This time at speeds over 40 MPH, for at least 20 minutes. 3. I now have 2 new front tires, again I was told to drive for a few days and the dashboard sensors lights will catch up, THE ORIGINAL REPORTED PROBLEM. 4. Finally, after driving for a long time on the freeway, I came back to the store, again. For the FIRST time in 4 weeks, there is a meter that checks sensors! I now know I have 2 sensors that are not functioning. This should have been checked from the start, before selling me 2 new tires and waiting 4 weeks to bring it to a resolve. Doug read more

I am not one to write reviews but thought my recent experience with Discount tires warranted one. I had a very slow leak in my tire for 2 months. I decided to stop in the Port Huron Discount Tire location and get it checked. I was informed that I had a slash in my tire and the best option was to replace the tire. I asked how much it would cost and was told $195.00 but he highly recommended that I not replace just the one bad tire but to replace all of them because my car was a front wheel drive. I questioned the diagnosis and asked why a slash would cause just a slow leak. I can't remember the exact answer I received but I was not convinced that Discount Tire was telling me the truth. I immediately drove over to the Belle Tire that is in close proximity of the Discount Tire in Port Huron. Belle Tire inspected the tire and informed me that it had a small pin hole and that they had patched it, with no charge. At first I was a little skeptical and thought I would wait a week to see if the tired leaked at all. After almost two weeks the tire has been perfect and has not leaked at all. I'm not sure if the Discount Tire employees work on commission but shame on them for trying to scam me. I just want others to be aware of this incident and be sure to get a second opinion before trusting the advice of Discount Tire. read more

This place is a sad excuse for a business and better defined as a scam operation. If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. I've had to replace several tires that are less than half the mileage warranty and they always come up with an excuse for why they won't cover it. Today I came in because my tire had a slow leak, that was getting worse. This time my tread was good but the guy said the inside edge was worn so he wouldn't even be able to service it or cover it. What's the point of a warranty if it never gets fulfilled. I'm so sick of this place, they've lost my business and are sure to loose more by my word of mouth to friends and family. read more

I went to discount tire Port Huron for a tire repair. big mistake , they put 3 chips on my new rim . the tire and rim was off the car when I took it there. when I picked it up it was covered in grease therefore i did not notice the chips . I noticed them while cleaning it before putting it on my car. I took it back the same day. Basically got an oh well . very poor workman ship and customer satisfaction.I will never recommend this Port Huron discount tire . read more
