My experience with the workers was outstanding. They removed the furniture into the hallway, taking great care to assure that the furniture was not damaged in any way as well as being certain that the furniture did not block passage through the hallway by keeping it all lined up neatly against the wall. The workers were polite and pleasant to any that crossed their path. They were expedient with the installation and it appeared to me that they were extremely knowledgeable with the process. The job was a full day's job and they continued throughout to work at a good, steady pace. Once completed, they quickly returned the furniture to its rightful place within the apartment. Kellem's workers are excellent and I feel confident that any who utilize their services will definitely be happy with the installation workers and the job that they do.

Everything in my home looks new and better than I ever expected. This was an insurance claim and the hot water heater itself was not covered under the claim. Well, not a problem because he not only bought me a hot water heater at no additional cost to me but he also arranged to have it installed (no cost to me). Obviously he was more than fair and treated me with respect. He listened when I told him what floors I wanted and took me to pick it out. The same thing with the different paints I wanted. I cannot say enough good things about him and his business. In the future I plan on having him do the work that I will need. I contracted with McCourt in early 2022 to install wood floors in our home. They agreed to come back in about 30 days to finish the remaining work (approx. 3 -4 man hours) so I paid them in full for their work, including change orders. I made several attempts over a 6 month period to have the outstanding work completed, but I was always told they were too busy to get to me. We were out of the country form a couple of months so I said I would contact them when we got back to schedule the work. I tried to contact McCourt by phone or visits to their office 6 times between late Nov 2022 and Jan 2023 to try and schedule the work, but never got a call back from them. It was clear to me they had no intention of returning my calls or completing the work I had paid them for. In early Jan 2023 I sent the owner, Mark, a text expressing my displeasure and telling him the complaints I intended to file against him (BBB and Contractor's Board). Mark called me within minutes and was very angry. He asked if I was threatening him and I told him no, I was telling him exactly what I planned to do for his breach of contract. He expressed his disdain for people who have moved to Brookings from California as I had when he said "you're a typical Californian" and told me to fuck off. That was the end of our conversation. There were no changes in scope on my project. The only unknown was minor floor repairs. The original estimate was $8,509 and the final cost was $11,046. This is a difference of 30%, which I believe is excessive. I feel the estimate was low balled, by excluding necessary items, to get my work. I've filed complaints against McCourt with the BBB (they did not respond so their rating was lowered from A+ to a B-) and Contractors License Board. I've also spoken to friends who had a similar problem with this company. I know our options are limited in Brookings but use this company at your own risk.

It did take quite awhile for them to come to install, but that was understandable due to the high volume of need in my area. The problem I have with the business is that I sent several remnants of carpet with them to have rugs made for my home, and it has been 8 months and I have not gotten the rugs. I have made several calls to the business and was assured that progress was being made. The business has never contacted me in the 8 months. I even left a message asking them just to let me know if the remnants had been lost and there was no reply. The carpet was very expensive and had I known this would be the situation I would have gone with the company I originally purchased the carpet from. When speaking with the manufacturer's representative of the PVC sheeting company (Versico), he said everyone knows that you can't put PVC sheeting over asphalt as it will deteriorate within a year and that he did not like to see it happen and hated to say it but that we had gotten screwed. One roofing company we had stop by for a bid to replace the roof said they had never seen such a bad roofing job. There was much more wrong than just the PVC being on top of the tarred roof. Whenever we had concerns, we were gaslighted until we stopped explaining our concerns. We continually heard "take five roofers and you will get five different opinions" or "residential application is different than commercial application". Oregon Contractors Board's mediator worked out a deal between us in 2023.
