Disc Makers sent my CDs (original music) to the wrong address and never recovered them. They sent replacement discs to me but the damage they caused can't be undone. Disc Makers refused to allow me to review a test pressing of the CD, then made a major manufacturing error on my CD project, shipped me a large number of units that were faulty, blamed my engineer for the error (no space between tracks, track titles appearing incorrectly, etc.) and then tried to charge me a large extra sum for re-pressing. I do NOT recommend this company due to their lack of professionalism and failure to correct their own blatant manufacturing mistake. read more

The absolute WORST company to do business with or order anything from PERIOD. They took over a month and a half to press 200 vinyls, then when they messed up, they weren't even going to call the label and tell us, the only reason I found out was by calling to find out where my product was at. I have people canceling orders because they were preordered and had to wait for such a long time to get them, I could only put people off until the beginning of April. As I type this it is 4/9 and I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE ORDER, in fact I was just told about the mistake and that they'd have to START OVER on 4/6, so in a month and a half of waiting NOTHING got done, WASTE OF TIME. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you ordered on 2/18, called on 4/6 to ask where your order was at and were told "we messed up and we're going to have to restart on 4/8" and the only reason you found out is because you called. Absolutely atrocious customer service and even worse production time. I will be using literally ANYBODY else and I very highly suggest you do the same, and especially don't run a preorder if you're counting on them for your product, because you might not have a fan base anymore by the time it arrives read more

I was fine with their artwork production and the sound quality of the CDs that they produced, but due to my apparent error in replacing one of the tracks prior to order placement, my songs ended up ranked incorrectly on the CDs. Could they not have done me the courtesy of an email 'proof' of the song order? This would have saved me so much embarrassment. They only offered to sell me additional disc's at a small discount. I feel compelled to add some positivity to this collection of reviews. I've been a customer of Discmakers since 2006, and they've done the CD duplication for 10 releases for me. I've always had an exceptional experience with them, both in terms of product quality and customer service. They're web site is incredibly easy to navigate and get job quotes. They provide templates in every major format (Quark, Photoshop, etc). Uploading content is quick and easy, especially if your files are in your Dropbox for instant transfer. They even have a free DDP authoring app in the event that you can't provide them with a DDP file yourself. It works flawlessly. They always call me when I set up a new quote, and they're able to do custom packaging (my CD distributor requires double-boxed CDs, for example). When they were duplicating my album "The Day I Met Myself", the account rep called me to say that they decided to re-run the printing (before it was shipped to me) because the colors didn't match the proofs as well as they could have. I never saw the first run, but the run that they shipped to me was perfect. I've never had any problems with them, and would recommend them highly for both short run duplication and larger run replication. I've run as few as 50 CDs and as many as 1,000. I'm about to use them for my 13th album, including vinyl pressing. read more

I regret going back to Disc Makers after working with staff at Oasis, but I think now they have consolidated. I know DM acquired CD Baby. DM's customer service (dudes) are rude and arrogant with no soft skills or personality. Do they really hate their jobs that much? Then step aside and let someone else who might actually care about their clients, have a crack at it. We give them 3 stars b/c of their crappy customer service that we encountered recently. They manage to get it done, but it's kind of cut and dry, we provide all the finished tracks and art and all they have to do it print and replicate, assemble. read more

I'm only giving a 2 star rating because my first project in 2018 with them, and another with them through a label in 2020, went well. But...they ruined my 2nd project with them in 2022. Their print quality went *DRASTICALLY* downhill. It looked completely amateurish and cheap. The black was no longer black but brown. The logos that printed fine previously in 2018 and 2020 now were smeared and illegible, even after resizing them and getting them approved when they flagged the initial design. Then they still had the nerve to charge me shipping for this abysmal print job. They will never get a penny from me again. Ruined my CD release. read more

I have used DiscMakers numerous times in the past. This is the first time I've had a problem with an obvious oversight on their part. They didn't include my CD text on my project, which was important to me. They confirmed I did indeed file my text correctly, but gave me excuse after excuse why it wasn't embedded on my CD's. I offered to even send a few copies back to them so they can verify my claim. Vague responses and a "we will look into it" was all I received until the communication stopped to a halt. read more

They did an okay job with the cd, some difficulty with layout but, wish i had passed on digital distribution, There was a lot of repeat work between them and cd baby on digital distribution. After weeks i finally got someone on the phone. You have to message them through internal channel and wait a couple days for 3 hour window to return your inquirey. Cd baby wanted me to change my cover design to match artist names exactly which was not possible. After much back and forth and time months wasted cd baby said they would contact disc makers and refund me disc makers who would refund my credit card. More hoops from cd baby, the process so convoluded it would take practically a brain surgeon to figure out and never got my money back or digital distribution. Still unresolved and will never use either of these companies again. read more

I am going to un-recommend using DiscMaker for your unsigned artist CD projects for these reasons: Horrible, time-wasting site interface (I'm talking 8 hours for me and my producer----who's a graphics/computer maven); supercilious, condescending staff who spoke to us like we were idiots (I confess only to semi-idiocy and demand an apology) when it was their stupid, user-unfriendly download procedure that wasted greatly our time; extra costs not in the quote. Ultimately, since the PDFs were so hard for Software-savvy Bobby (my old chum and Melody Messenger producer/recorder/magician) to upload, we threw in the towel to the tune of another $27(for THEM to upload my &^^%ing files), just to get it over with. I won't be so cynical as to say this was by design. More like: they're used to dealing with a way younger generation than Bobby and mine (68, 65 respectively) and also just don't care about things like good customer service. Sad. The final affront: after all the time we put in on their ridiculous interface they had the effrontery to send a robo-email saying my project waas on hold b/c they HADN'T RECEIVED THE ARTWORK!! I answered that I wanted a refund and got a 2nd robo-email suggested time-wasting articles ALMOST as lame as their videos. If their were negative stars here I'd give them 100. I did get my $ back from a human being---the only good thing I've to say about these time-wasting would-be Mensa member snots. Bobby and I are making my CDs ourselves at way less cost to me and the beauty part: I wont have to deal with these people EVER AGAIN IN THIS LIFE! Your move(s).. read more

If there was a zero star to give I would've given it. I ordered 1000 4 panel digipaks. The colors on the cover of the first pressing were way off. They agreed they made a mistake and would do a 2nd pressing. That took 2 weeks to do. The second pressing had intermittent white blotches in different places on some of the CDs. After another 2 weeks of trying to figure out what happened (they said they couldn't figure why it happened), they wanted me to send the entire order back so they could open them up, locate the defective ones, re-press them, shrink wrap them and send them back. That would take an additional 2 weeks to get them back to them, have them to do their thing and then send them back to me. This decision came 2 days before the scheduled release date of the CD. Releasing a CD is a time sensitive thing. Release dates were set, CD release party was booked at a local venue, publicists were hired. They wanted me to postpone it all so they could take their time to sort out their incompetence. They didn't even consider any of this, just send us back the entire inventory so they can find their errors. I said at that point I couldn't send them back and asked for a full refund. They came back a few days later and offered me a 35% (before ship & tax) refund. No one really cared about my project. You would think that after they screwed up the first run, they would take extra care to make sure the second run was good, but they clearly didn't. Their 35% offer was non negotiable, no discussion. They said it's only 35% because I didn't send back the inventory so they could just throw it in the garbage. I've used discmakers in the past many times and they were great. But clearly they're not anymore. Their quality control and customer service are horrible. Avoid at all cost. read more

They were really late on a job, never responded to repeated queries and when I finally got a rep on the phone, she didn't answer my question but, instead, went off into a sale's spiel for a product completely unrelated to music. Shady business practices here. Their website malfunctioned while ordering and so my order processed twice. I notified them immediately. Due to processing time, they weren't able to refund the 2nd order for 3 to 5 business days. I'm in Canada so that means exchange rate changed to the tune of 50.00 less I was refunded. This company lied to me repeatedly. They made very serious mistakes on my CD project, and then refused to explain or apologize or correct any of them. Instead of a gatefold, I got a skimpy insert that completely omitted my Acknowledgments page. They have some kid working there now who is completely incompetent, but no one is ever identified. Don't waste your time or your money on these people -- they are not the people who used to run Discmakers, and they do not know what they are doing. read more

Horrible Customer Service!!!!!!! First of all. They make you use there templates which wouldn't be a problem except, you have to have Adobe Photoshop and WinZip to even download the templates and then I had a problem with FOP and there was only one accounting person available to work it and she was away from her desk. My brother is the Executive P on this one so he can use them in the future but I won't on any project that I am doing separately. In an environment that is constantly shrinking for a company like this, I would think that you would make this process as awesome as possible but I guess not- UGH!!! read more

Going downhill. I have been a disc makers customer for at least four years. They have become increasingly sloppy and a poorer value. For at least two of my short-run projects, they have completely forgotten to produce the order...then i call ten days after the ship date to cancel the order, and they give me crud about canceling the order. Further, their quality is going down. I just had an order reproduced from 12 months ago, and there is a huge difference in the materials used. The color bleeds and looks lousy. White is speckled grey. There is literally. No white backing on the label near the hub, making for a very odd color transition. Media is just plain cheaper, and i don't know how it costs nearly $40 to ship 500 CDs in paper envelopes via ups ground. Any recommendations? read more

I uploaded my artwork, digital files and IPR (intellectual property) form 2 weeks before I needed CD's to arrive (let's call this "day 1"). I received a confirmation the next day ("day 2") of the payment, and another confirmation of the IPR. The next day ("day 3") I received an e-mail from a human being (sales manager) who informed me I needed to submit my IPR. No problem, I submitted the form again, and on the next day ("day 4") I received a confirmation of the IPR form and a request to upload my files. I e-mailed and spoke on the phone with the sales manager, who explained to me that I had made more than one quote and that somehow I'd managed to pay for one quote and upload files for the other. OK, fine, he was nice and applied the files to the correct quote. I had not heard anything after that, so I called my sales manager 2 days later on day 6, because I was now 8 days away from when I needed the CD's and I did not have any indication progress was being made. My sales manager informed me that production would take another three weeks, but that we could rush an order of 300 discs in time. I agreed to this on day 6, which was a Friday. I then received 2 e-mails introducing my two project managers -- one for the short run and one for the longer run. I asked if I could have one project manager for both, but apparently that was not possible. The e-mails were form letters, and said the same thing - the estimated date I'd be sent digital proofs would be Monday (day 9) and confirmed the e-mail address the proofs would be sent to. The letter then said: "Once all of your proofs have been approved, it will take approximately 2 working days for your project to complete, plus shipping transit time. Your finished product will be shipped to:" (and then my physical address). On Monday, day 9, I received the digital proofs of the artwork, which I approved immediately. I called the short-run project manager and asked if I would need to re-approve for the other 700 CD's, and he informed me that there were now 2 orders, one for 300 CD's and the original one for 1,000 CD's. I asked to cancel the other order, and the short-run manager said I could reject those digital proofs when I received them. Also, on Monday (day 9), I left town to visit my family for an important religious holiday, arriving back home on Friday (day 13). I was a bit nervous, but when I received an e-mail stating that my order had shipped via UPS next day air, I was relieved. On Tuesday (day 10) I received a voice mail from the other project manager (not the one that sent the e-mail about UPS shipping) that I needed to approve the proofs or my order could not progress. I thought that was for the 1,000 CD's, and I was traveling, so I made a note to reject the proofs later. Also on Tuesday (day 10) I received confirmation that indeed, a UPS package had been shipped to my house. I checked my credit card online and indeed I had been charged for the order. I checked the discmakers.com website and in my account the order had moved from the section "My Orders and Projects" to the section "Place a Reorder". All these led me to believe that there were 300 CD's waiting for me at home. On Friday (day 13) I arrived home to find that the UPS package was an envelope with a physical CD proof. I was *never* told this step was going to occur. I re-read the confirmation carefully and indeed it stated I would have proofs sent to my e-mail address and the final product sent to my shipping address -- never did it say I'd have another proof sent to my shipping address. In the conversations I'd had with my sales manager and both project managers, the physical proof was never mentioned. Needless to say, I did not receive my CD's in the agreed upon timeframe. Had I known I was to receive an audio proof I would have worked something out (I could have had a friend pick up the proof for me and listen to it). I am extremely disappointed in discmakers. I had been on the phone with three different people -- one sales manager and two project managers -- and they stressed that approving the proofs was important, but never mentioned I'd be receiving both a digital proof for the artwork and a CD proof to make sure the data files were good. None of the emails I received mention receiving a physical proof. read more

Pretty good. Fast turnaround, easy templates, good communication. Got my 3-disc set absolutely right, as far as content and placement goes. My biggest issue is that I just paid a few hundred dollars for a small run of CD sets... the "black" CDs came out dark green/black (yes, my PDF I sent them was rich CMYK black), a few of the CD cases were cracked, and they used DVD-R and CD-R's for the discs. Lame. If I'm paying you to produce a professional-quality product, your disks should not be the same CD-Rs that I have in a drawer at home. Meaning: they should be silver, like other pro-services I've gone through. Not the cheap, scratchable green-sh CD-Rs. Also, I paid extra for one of the disks to be "classic glossy", and the 3-disc set came out all looking the same level of glossy. The glossy is much shinier than normal CDs you'd purchase, so it looks a little weird. There are also small pieces of cardboard/paper/human hair inside the shrink wrap packaging. WTF? So, to summarize: black disks were not black, glossy looks strange and I would totally not pay for that if I had known, all discs are printed on top but are standard CD or DVD-Rs you could get at Target. Not the professional silver, tougher discs. and the packaging has remnants of random stuff inside of them. Not professional at all. Will I use Disc Makers again? Doubt it. It was an ok price and very easy to set up my project, but the final result was amateur. And I'm now out a bunch of $$. read more

Been doing business with Discmakers for almost 10 years and have ordered thousands of dollars in replication services. Apparently I'm one of their best customers. In all that time, the sales rep here in Chicago has taken me out to lunch ZERO times., He's an order taker, really. Where Discmakers really sucks the big one is in fulfillment. I've had four reps in two years, but the dipstick there now (Senior Customer Service Representative) has forgotten to fulfill orders, shipped without paperwork, shipped to the wrong address.... this one rep alone has cost my company over $ 6,000 in revenue. The CEO's solution to the problem was to offer me a couple hundred bucks in shipping. Right. I'm done with these people. They don'y get it. read more

I had an excellent experience. Everything was done over the internet and email responses were rapid. I got a proof of my DVD within days of the order and the finished product was better than anything I could have done. Downloading my own artwork was impossible and I guess I paid for that but still happy with the final results. A little pricey but the reorders will be better. I dealt with Mike W. and Alex J. and they were always helpful. A lot of proof reading issues on my part and still got DVDs on schedule. read more

I was refunded a portion of what I paid. The person I spoke with said that the artwork would have been clearer if I uploaded a vector file but I didn't see that option on their ordering portal. That should have been discovered pre-press but it was ultimately my error because I OK'd the "digital proof". Long story short, I ended up paying less for a lower quality product.
