A well kept course, and fun to play…read more I hadn't played Markham before, but I've wanted to since I first saw it years ago while driving through Markham. I was there for a bike thing, but I made note it was there Last week I was to play with some friends and I said let's make the trek out west to Markham. It's always fun to try a new course. we got there at the early hour of 830. Plenty of people in line to get in, but most were for off-road biking. When we got to the course(far back right) there was only one more group starting off. After a couple warm ups we were were off. A couple water holes early but that was it for the agua. After that there were other tough holes in woods, but the back 9 was mostly open. The course had a nice layout, it never overlapped itself like I've seen a couple times lately. There were a few holes that gave a chance at a birdie for us amateurs which is always a plus. We all ended with decent scores, and the we could definitely do better on the next time. We will have to make it back soon to see if we can actually back that up.

Friendly disc golfers too. We left a disc at a hole and they put it on our car for us when we got back. Found a disc and texted the guy, but he had gone home to Illinois and said we could keep it. Hounce houses, photo opportunities, pumpkin patch, pig races, hayrides and more! The kids and us had a blast. With the overwhelming amount of people that came, it never felt so crowded that you could not participate in what you wanted. Some lines, but not always. It was pretty well organized too. Props to the staff on that! The day was beautiful,and we got through everything we wanted to in the 3 hours we were there!

I would do it again next year. Its a driving experience. They had a sign of a station to listen to. I got static so I used mine. You have to stay inside the car. They had a bathroom stop halfway. It was around thirty dollars and you had the option of buying 3D glasses for $6, ouch a little overpriced for paper glasses. I did buy them lol. What the glasses did was that it added a figure to the lights. My glasses had snowman and if I moved they moved with me. It was cool. The snowman were everywhere. My son got candy cane. It was the same experience. The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves. Some really got into the holiday spirit. Everyone was very cheerful here. It was a happy atmosphere. I was glad I came.

Today we played the silent lake disc golf course and it was a great time yet again…read more I hadn't been in a while so i really didn't know what to expect. i remember last time we had trouble finding the 6th tee box so this time we took a photo of the layout map so we had the course in our pocket. w We started at 830, which can be a busy time of day to tee off. Either it was an off day for the course or what, but we were able get rolling easily. It's a fairly open course. if you can really drive it you had alot of chances at birdie. I'm not strong but with the lack of obstacles i had a good chance at par on every hole. theres only a couple water holes(and I found the drink on both) but otherwise nothing too difficult. We will be coming back around again soon. I left too many extra strokes on the course. we can definitely do better next time.

One of the best "wide open" courses in south Florida…read more I was here again just the other weekend. A group of friends and I did the whole 18 holes. It was a perfect day, if not a little hot. But thats everyday these days in Florida. The course is well taken care of. It's a city park with plenty of other activities going on from cookouts to people jogging to playground stuff. As courses go its got a wide open layout. You can see the hole/basket from the tee box. With the wide open spaces its a very tough course to lose a disc(unless you throw it in the water). Which I did, on the 4th hole. They have 3 water holes and I found the water on one of them. The good news is it was a floating frisbee so I got it back 30 minutes later when it floated into shore. Yesterday we decided to truck down there to see what it was all about. Honestly, I've never seen something so beautiful....and just for dogs! It had this big Shady Lake where the dogs could play and go swimming. My dog WANTS to swim (he even has webbed feet!) but because he's a pitbull, he sinks. I recently bought him a life preserver and I thought this might be a game changer for him, and it was. He had the time of his life running with the other dogs and swimming! Besides it's beauty, there's two locked fences to keep your dog from escaping the area. And further across the park is one of the nicest and largest dog parks I have ever seen! After he swam for about an hour I took him over there to hose off the lake water and just let him run around until he was dry. We will definitely be going back to this park because I believe he had the time of his life. And the best part? It was free! I have heard the weekends are insane with crowds. I was glad that we were able to go during the week. So if you decide to take your pup during the week, maybe I'll see you there! I will let these pictures do the talking as you can see how happy he is! I wish they had one of these up near us in Palm Beach County. But like I said it wasn't a bad drive and it will not deter us from returning!

He gets hot, so I wanted to go in the morning on an overcast day. There's so much conflicting information about the hours and locations for all the dog beaches, I thought I'd start here. It was recommended on Reddit. BEST recommendation ever! First of all, where the dogs play is mostly shaded. From what I read, it's a man-made lagoon. The water is beautiful. You can see the bottom as you enter the water. At first, Teddy was a little hesitant to get in, but there were so many other dogs there, he just wanted to play. There are poop bags there if you need them. There's also a bench-style table to sit at. Teddy had a blast! Be sure to bring some water shoes. The beach/ground is riddled with small rocks, so walking barefoot isn't necessarily comfortable. I wore slides, and it was good. After I let Teddy play, we walked in the park so he could dry off. They have a nice shaded path. They also have a Disc Golf Course. What is that you asked? I wondered the same thing. I didn't see anyone playing, but I did see the Disc catchers scattered throughout. They also have a volleyball section with beach sand. Oh yeah, they have a pretty cool butterfly garden. No dogs allowed in there, but the butterflies were flying all over that area, so I was able to see a few. Overall, it's a really nice park. I'll probably go back tomorrow.

Plantation Heritage Park is one of the best places you can come to, to walk around and decompress the day's stress. Something about being out in the nature, getting some fresh air, and seeing different animals calms my mind and my heart. It feelings healing in a way. Yes I would recommend this place to others and will be back again in the future! This park has pavilions you can rent for parties and celebrations. They also have a fitness zone where you can work out. There are playgrounds where kids can run around as well.

I come for the disc golf but I do appreciate all this park has to offer…read more I was new to this part of town when a friend recommended we play the course inside the Plantation Heritage park. I got there as they opened, 8am on the weekends. The course starts on the far end of the park so you get to take in the park on the way there. Ducks and geese love this place. They are all over the place. The lake that takes up the middle of the park is postcard perfect. You can't really blame the birds for liking it. When we play the course it gives you a chance to see alot of the park. The course covers almost everything east to west. One of the really neat things is the burrowing owl really likes this park. They are located at at least 4 spots I have been by. They are unique not just for nesting underground, but that they have alot of attitude. There is one couple of birds that are the 16th tee box who hiss at you while you play. Including the bird encounters, Its a great park, whether disc golfing, or bird spotting.

The half mile walking trail was nice with butterflies flying around. The bathroom was very clean with a maintenance woman working inside. A second dog park, Wag Dog Park recently opened in Oakland Park besides Richard E. Giusti Heart Parcours. Bark Park is divided into two sections: one for smaller dogs and another for larger dogs. This division is a great feature to ensure safety for dogs of different sizes and strengths. All of the agility equipment was recently upgraded and there are plenty of benches for owners to sit and watch their dogs, as well as tree shaded areas to relax, especially important during the hot Florida afternoons. The park is also equipped with water stations, dog waste bags, and trash cans, so it's easy to clean up after your pet and stay hydrated during your visit. One thing that stood out to me and that I appreciated is that the grounds are regularly maintained, and there's minimal litter or debris. I went with my senior rescued dog M-F at 7:30 for 10+ years as I dropped my sons off to school but after a few situations with irresponsible owners (after work crowd,) I felt it wasn't worth the aggravation AND the vet bills!! I decided to give it another chance last week and this morning was 4th successful dog park morning excursion. After 4 good days for a freshman dog park puppy, I decided to give it a thumbs up . He's only 6 months old but a large breed and the current science says to wait until closer to age 2 for large breed males to get neutered so that can present a few issues with OG alpha males but the morning owners are VERY mindful, attentive and responsible and were very welcoming to me and my puppy. I'm not ready to go with both dogs yet as one is a 13 y/o female schipperke/border collie and belongs with the small dogs but hopefully in the near future I'll feel confident enough to bring both.

This is a wide open park. It is also very huge and has different sections. There is a parking lot…read moreby a huge open field. Near the parking lot is a restroom facility and some picnic tables sprinkled around. They have some beautiful trees over there including banyan trees. The field is ginormous and has a disc golf course. A little further down from that area is another part of the park. There is a large parking lot over there and a huge football/soccer field and 8-10 artificial turf soccer fields that are enclosed by a fence. They have a covered patio area with picnic tables over there as well. Even though there are a bunch of trees around, there is not a lot of shade on either section of the park, so plan accordingly. You do not need a military ID to visit the park, as it sits outside of the gate. It is a very peaceful park and easy to get to. If you are looking for a low key park to hang out and relax then this is your spot.
