Feeling unwelcome, we decided to leave and walk down the street instead. We ended up at Rebels Burgers & Brew, and what a difference! Honestly, the only thing I regret is not finding it sooner in the day. We had mediocre drinks and food at restaurant nearby and needed to cleanse our palettes with quality beer. Uptowner is a bit tucked away down a driveway with another building in front, but it's worth seeking out! There's a small parking lot to the right of the patio, which was super convenient for us. As soon as we walked up, we felt welcomed by the warm, all-wood cabin vibes and the friendly presence of a couple of locals hanging out on the outdoor patio. The wraparound bar inside is gorgeous, and their tap list blew me away. Over 20 options, including ciders and sours! If beer isn't your thing, they also offer soju cocktails, plus cans and cool specialty drinks in glass bottles to-go. Their restrooms are single occupancy and located behind saloon-style swinging doors, such a fun touch! Everything was super clean and well-maintained. I want to highlight something I noticed in other reviews: Steve, the owner, absolutely does NOT deserve the negative feedback. Yes, he might come across as a bit stern at first, but he's really customer-focused and easy to talk to. Maybe on a busy night, things get hectic, but we chatted with him about the bar's history and surviving COVID. He was welcoming and gracious, and even let us finish our drinks in peace at closing. It's tucked away in the same parking lot as an A&W (y'know...the rootbeer place). They have a pleasant outdoor patio and cool decorations. Parking seems pretty abundant. Inside is carpeted and comfy. The bartender was friendly and inviting. They have a few games besides pool - darts, a neat golf arcade game. The food was especially good, I usually have low expectations for bar food but the pretzels and beer cheese were SOOOO good and we got a turkey club which was their Saturday special. On the menu are burgers, sandwiches, grilled cheese, and more - along with tasty appetizers ranging from cheese curds to fried ravioli. I noticed the bar also had some candy and chips behind it. Their homemade potato chips are to die for. There's a wide variety of drinks and beer on tap. The pool table was great too (cash only to play). There is also an ATM inside. We felt comfortable, had fun, and look forward to coming back!
