BEWARE OF EXTRA CHARGES that they do not tell you about when you leave your dog with them! If i could give zero stars I would.
My review of this place would have been totally different 4 months ago. Now I will never take my dog there or recommend them to anyone. It's not just about the money, its about bad customer treatment and a bad "grooming" job at a out of line price not to mention the attitude of the owner.
Reputable businesses will tell you if they are going to charge you more than their customary charge. In fact the last time I was there they didn't tell me there was a price increase in advance either. The groomer at that time didn't charge me extra and said if it meant I wouldn't come back she wouldn't raise my fees.
This time, my dog was matted. When his coat gets too long it mats, no matter what you do. I was a regular customer and suddenly without warning, they couldn't get my dog in for 2 months. Was on a wait list the entire time and still they would not get him in.
The owner and the groomer knew he was matted when I brought him in, we discussed it. Not a word mentioned about an extra fee. Had they told me that they were going to charge over $100 to groom my dog (using the term loosely, shaving is not grooming) I would have walked out the door and done it myself at home. The owner even admitted that she was right there and should have said something, but wouldn't do anything about it. The excuse was the extra time and the owner has a business to run.
What extra time? My dog was done about 1-1.5 hours sooner than he usually is when he has long hair that has to be brushed. Not much brushing and fluffing involved when you shave the dog down to nothing so whats the extra charge? To make it even worse, my once beautiful dog looks ridiculous the way they left his ears and tail extremely long. So after paying $100 + I will have to do his ears and his tail. They offered to shorten the ears but by that point I was done. And now that I am home with him I can see what a horrible job she did Shaving him. There's spots where the hair is a half inch longer where she missed.
This is not the 1st time they were going to do an extra charge, (convienence fee) apparently they can find all, kinds of extra fees to add on. At least the 1st time I was told in advance and had the choice not to come in, and I didn't for a year. Decided to give them another try about a year ago. Lesson learned. No third chances. Something wrong when you have to be dishonest about what you charge.
Since I am unable to respond to the owners comment, I will add it to my comments here.
Incorrect that I was previously unhappy with the pricing. If that was the case I would not have returned for another appointment today. What I am unhappy about is expecting to pay $65 for a service and getting charged over $100!
Toni, in you slam of me, you forgot to mention that the last groomer said she was not going to change the price for my dog. Given that is in the notes, a little heads up would have been the right thing to do BEFORE the appointment. I didn't ask her to do that she offered.
Would I have brought my dog in today and kept the appointment if you would have told me that you were not honoring what your groomer told me last time and hitting me with an additional fee on top of that? Probably not. What is completely lost on you is that I should have been informed, I should have been given the opportunity to decide if I wanted to spend that much instead of being blindsided.
Even worse paying THAT much is how bad and uneven it is which I didn't even notice until I was already home. He has long hair on his legs and around his toes. I notice you didn't have a comment about that, just a slam for your former customer.
I fully understand like you said, you have a business to run but what you don't understand is sometimes it's a good idea to take responsibility when you are in the wrong especially when you run a business. The best customer you can have is an unhappy one so you can learn from the experience and figure out how to turn the situation around so they do come back. You obviously are not interested in learning anything and you don't care that you lost a customer and that is fine.
If I can help one person by letting them know they should ask how much each time they come in so they know before it's too late than this was worth my time to write this. read more
