Took a last minute trip to Sioux Falls over the Christmas holiday, Precious Pets was able to make room for our puppy so he could have a good time while we were out sightseeing. The staff was very informative in emails prior to our arrival. We were greeted by very friendly staff each day we dropped Bruce off, we even received a report card letting us know how his first day went. He came home happy and exhausted every evening! The groomer left cotton balls in the ears of our dog that were packed in so far we did not notice until after a few days our dog was blinking his eyes and started working the cotton from his ears. We made several vet visits, ER visit, and until now we are dealing with many issues. We also had to get a CT scan, MRI, bloodwork, and several medications. To have a super healthy certified therapy dog go through this is ridiculous. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I don't enjoy leaving these reviews, but we had our 9lb, 15 year old dog groomed there recently and they cut her neck so deep she need SIX STAPLES to close the wound. I understand small cuts can happen, but the vet was shocked at the severity of her cut and that it could happen at a groomer. The staff was very rude and unapologetic when I picked her up. We've boarded our small dog here over the last three years quite often! The staff is very friendly and are always excited to see him also love to tell me how his stay was when I pick him up! Our pup are always happy when we pick up him which' hasn't been the case at other kennels! We love precious pets country resort and wouldn't want to go anywhere else! Thank you precious pet staff for making us at ease to bored our precious pup! Note side- if you don't wanna drive all the way out to the country resort you can drop your dog off at there precious pet salon in Sioux Falls and they can transfer your dog to the country resort! Plus! If it's your first time boarding there I would definitely drive your pup out to see what this place is about and meet the staff! I also want to add that we get him groomed before we pick him up and his cut looks fantastic! I've considered driving 20 minutes here to get his haircut all the time because we were so happy with the quality of the cut! We once had to use the kennel a couple miles down the street from from precious pets ( CK kennels?) and the owners were VERY unfriendly and my dog was not happy when I picked him up! They had a really nice compound set up though I will say but the service was NOT good for me nor my pet! read more

Our dog hates being bathed by strangers and also hates hair dryers. She spent 5 years in a puppy mill and is very shy. We bathe her ourselves and then take her in to a groomer for a haircut only. We tried Precious Pets grooming today and they charged us for a bath even though they didn't give her one. Never going back. read more

The owner of Precious Pets does not offer consistent quality work and is unable and unwilling to account for her mistakes. We have a standard poodle and took him to Precious Pets almost immediately after we moved to Sioux Falls. His first groom by the owner there was great, no complaints on our side. We went a second time for a shorter German cut and the job was butchered. We wanted his ears shaved. We were called beforehand and confirmed this over the phone. When he was done, his ears weren't fully shaved down. The cut was choppy and uneven throughout. There was a huge section on his back that was well shorter than the rest. His ears, face, and paws weren't cleaned up at all. There was a huge clump of hair in one of his ears that was just left there. Afterwards, he was shaking his head so much he had hematomas in both ears. A visit to the vet confirmed he had bacteria in his ear, probably due to moisture in his ears after the bath. The hair on his back and head was very frizzy, again indicating he wasn't dried properly after being washed. His sanitary area wasn't even cleaned up. Even after going back there, the glaring issues weren't even addressed. We tried to talk to the owner but she refused to get on the phone and instead relayed excuse after excuse via her employees. No grooming shop owner should let a dog leave a grooming shop with such shoddy work or make excuses for anything like this, especially with an almost $200 receipt. If you believe your pet is precious, don't take your pet to Precious Pets. read more

Brought two of our dogs in. One mastiff and one pit bull terrier. We arrived several hours later to pick them up and our pit bull was clearly not groomed. They insisted they did and we were charged. And when we got home we bathed her ourselves and the water was dirty brown and nails still long. Do not trust this business. read more

We have not been to Precious Pets before but decided to give it a shot. Given it's proximity to Costco & great reviews, it was a no-brainer. Arrived at 7:30am as car after car arrived with various sleepy eyed, coffee toting, owners came to drop off their disheveled dogs. Our dog was no exception. 12 pound Maltese, dirty from deer poo and Fall leaves. She looked more like an overgrown cotton ball with 4 legs. We were so thrilled with the kindness, care, and service of Precious Pets that I have to say it's our #1 pick after 13 years of having Annabelle groomed. Annabelle had a facial, paw soak, bath, and excellent styling. She was also very calm at the facility which never happens. We highly recommend! read more

I highly recommend precious pets for any grooming needs. The staff are so sweet and welcoming! After going to 3 different groomers to get my pup in for a quick grooming appt. they were willing to get him in with no appt. They took their time grooming my dog and did a great job. I was very upset with them, when I called to book an appointment and ask how much it would be they told me between 65.00 & 95.00. When I got there they charged me 159.00. I couldn't believe it. It was the first time I had been there and it will be the last. That is absolutely ridiculous. She just had a bath and hair cut. The hair cut was nice. I will not recommend them to anyone. When I checked my bank account they had taken out 191.70 giving themselves a 31.00 tip. When they called they turned it on me and there is no way I would give them a tip and it was not on my receipt. Then they told me they charge by the hour but not how much. Wow horrible customer service. It was a very upsetting experience for me. read more

NEW LOCATION: 3740 Grange Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. (Near Costco) Road trips with pets has its challenges but it's even more difficult during the hot summer months. We checked out of our hotel and wanted to have a nice lunch and go shopping but what about our dog....? We called Precious Pets and made arrangements to drop our dog off for a few hours of doggie daycare. The facility is large, clean and managed by several very friendly young adults who love dogs. We were truly impressed by the staff as well as the facility. We also appreciated the ease in which they accepted an out-of-town dog. I simply showed them our dog's vaccine records and then he was off to the play yard. It really was that simple. Our dog is a daycare frequent flyer so we were we were so thrilled when we found him a nice to have a place to romp. Thank you for loving "Gemmy" the yellow lab as much as we do. read more

Double charged us on our credit card for a grooming in January. Owner states apology and will return money and give a free grooming. Never received the refund. Owner first stated she mailed it, we never received it, then stated she will stop payment on first check and reissue. Again never received. We did receive the free grooming so I guess we were lucky to come out even. Unfortunate but you can't believe or trust what they say. read more

My dog loves coming to precious pets. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Only downside is there is no grass (yet) so they do come home a little dirty from the mud sometimes. I don't mind it since my dog is groomed weekly but it does bother some people. read more

Precious Pets daycare is absolutely wonderful! They always greet my dog like he's one of their own. My dog cannot contain his excitement the minute we pull into the parking lot and is always exhausted when he comes home from being there (he's a very energetic dog so that's a God send) and makes me feel better he's getting adequate exercise and socializing with other dogs and people. My only wish is they were open a little later on weekdays, but it won't stop me from taking my dog there! read more

My sister and I took our Yorkie to this place on a saturday and asked that she be "buzzed". When we picked her up, it was right at closing time, so we paid quickly and headed for home. In the car, we noticed that her ears were ragged, and then we started seeing chunks of hair sticking up. When we got home, and she could walk, we discovered that she was limping on her left front foot! We also discovered that the hair on her left front leg was much shorter than on her right front leg. She has a tuft of hair sticking up over her right eye. I called them on monday (they are closed on sunday) and spoke to a young lady there, who told me that both the manager and the groomer who had worked on saturday weren't there. I left my name and number, and was told someone would call me. No one ever called me. I would have settled for a partial refund. DO NOT take your pets there. Not if you love them! DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS HERE I would give zero stars if I could. New to the area, decided to use this place since it was close to home. I dropped off my healthy pets. (Young cat and elderly dog) We have used pet boarding places before pretty regularly, because of work. The animals know the routine. Our dog actually loves it. We also decided to have our dog washed while he was there, since he was due for a bath. When we went to pick them up, the girl at the counter told us we could go in the small room by the main door, and get our cat. The smell in that room about made me sick. My cat wasn't acting like herself either. My dog came out whimpering and whining which he had never done before. After returning home, our animals odd behavior continued. My dog was really on edge, and just not himself. My cat kept flopping down, and making weird noises. My dogs coat, which we get MANY compliments on the softness, felt like straw. He also kept itching. (The cat was also itching) Upon inspection, I discovered my dogs entire belly was covered in a rash and sores. I also found adult fleas on both animals. The day after we picked them up, my cat took a turn for the worst. She was sneezing, coughing, very congested, had a high fever, would not move, and would not eat/drink. I was able to nurse her back to semi normal behavior after 4days of constant care and antibiotics. It took her a few more before she wasn't lethargic anymore. It has been a couple of weeks now, she is still not 100%, but we are making progress. I don't recommend this place at all. I've never experienced anything like this with a boarder, and I hope no one else will either. read more
