We did not have a good experience here at Hidden Paradise and would NOT recommend to our friends or family. Our dog was in his care when we were out of state and was lost for 3 days before we were able to fly home and (thankfully) locate him. The owner commented here that he couldn't find my name on the booking but it was under my husband's name and I would have hoped he would have remembered my dog as he was very much aware of the situation and we had "lost" photos of him all over the city. Loved this place! Clean and the owner was very compassionate! He got to know my dog and knew what he needed.

First of all I do like the cameras, but they only let our boy out one time on Saturday between 12-1:30 then he wasn't let out again tell Sunday morning at 10:30am. He is an in house dog so that is a very long time for him to not go potty. I watched him on the camera and he peed for almost 3 minute. When we picked him up the owner became very angry when we asked why he was only let out once. He said he is only responsible to let them out for 2 hours per day and it's not his problem if they don't pee in there kennel. When I called to schedule his appointment he told me they were let out at least 2 times a day. Not to mention they must not have water in there kennels my dog drank almost a gallon of water when we got home. This was the first time using this kennel it will be our last. If you don't Love animals get out of the business. read more

My dogs love to go to Hidden Paradise. I have two sweet and very sensitive dogs and they try to run into the building when we arrive because they are so happy to be there. I love the fact that there are cameras everywhere so I can see how they are doing, and I can even watch the playback to see what happened the entire stay. There is also 24 hour access so if I get home when the facility is closed I can pick them up without waiting for them to open. I am so happy we found Hidden Paradise and will continue to use them for a long time to come! read more

Had a great experience the first time so we rebooked for the next weekend with a last minute trip decision. Our dog doesn't normally play with other dogs but he did great with group play. Very reasonable, clean facility and 24 hour access for indoor/outdoor run area when you prepay. Information is very clear with your first drop off and you can bring your dog to his kennel to see where they stay. Thank you for providing a safe environment!! read more

My dogs have always done well here. They never resist being brought in and dropped off, unlike going to the vet (lol). The kennels are always clean and well-kept. I like that I can pick them up any time, day or night, at my convenience. I can always check in on them via the cameras that are available as well. The rudest service I have ever seen. Swore at my wife and I, had the gall to ask for a recommendation on drop off, was purposely arrogant and borderline abusive. Seemed to care little for the dogs. Bragged about a 6 foot climbing area that the new dogs jump off of and hurt themselves. Absolutely horrific. Avoid at all costs. If I could give less than one star I would. The owner contacted me via facebook messenger and called me a liar. I have left my review. It is honest. 100% honest. Owner took pleasure in mocking my wife and I, he swore twice (once about customers who don't relock the locks and once when I could not get padlock to work), he bragged about an area where new dogs get hurt, and he made a horrific inappropriate cancer joke. My review is my review and I stand by it. His arrogance won't even allow him to understand that a customer had a bad experience at his kennel. Instead he called the customer a liar and implies that his poor service is my fault while doing nothing to address the PAYING customers concerns. read more

Absolutely do not bring your dogs here. I've never had my dog so poorly taken care of. She is a special needs dog that wears diapers and he couldn't even put the cover on right side out so you could imagine the mess when I picked her up. Her privates were extremely red which means she was not changed when needed. Both her hind legs have horrible sores. Picked her up at 10:00 pm and she was already a mess with her diaper. read more

When I had boxers we used Hidden Paradise to board them when we went out of own. The only thing we brought with us was some dog food. The minute we pulled into the parking lot they went nuts. They ran straight to the door, leash and all, we opened it and they went into the office and to the gate that led to the kennels. I don't know exactly why they liked it so much, but they sure did. I miss my boxers terribly, but I now weigh a lot less and so when the last one died of old age, I got a chewing which can come along. Helga Szameit read more

I am a new dog owner with two rambunctious 7 month old puppy/dogs. I read the reviews of Hidden Paradise and thought there was a good balance of both positive & negative feedback. I'm getting really leery when something seems too good or too terrible. I've also encountered a great deal of racism in SD and sadly it affected our dogs at the last kennel we boarded them in- (that, by the way, had outstanding, great reviews). It was a bad experience. I enjoyed talking with Curt as he is upfront, honest in a blunt sort of way...but I appreciated that. He took time to teach my daughter and I some techniques of how to train these two wild gals which I thought was nice. The kennels were clean and the other dogs seemed happy and taken care of. Our dogs made some friends and that was fun to see!! I'm so glad they got to socialize with other dogs and have indoor/outdoor opportunities instead of being stuck in a cage all day. read more

Never even got the chance to brin my dogs there. Curt returned my phone call, and I was trying to explain our dogs (one is old and blind, and one is "bi-polar" as the vet says and the last is the "normal" one in the bunch). He was very rude and impatient, kept interrupting me with "how can I help you", emphasis on the I. I have never boarded any of my dogs and wanted to make sure things would be ok. I took my 7 month old Twinkles to Hidden Paradise Boarding Kennel in Sioux Falls while I attended a wedding. This is a great place. He has a dog park with structures for the dogs to climb on. Dogs are grouped by temperament and size. 24/7 access, so we picked her up after the wedding reception. Features radiant heat in the floors, access door to the outside, puppy playtime. The owner is unique in his attention to dog behavior and comfort. This is the best kennel I've seen in all my years of owning dogs. Wish it was in Minnesota so I could take Twinkles there more often. This is our third time bringing our dog to stay while we have been on vacation and I love it. The owner is very friendly and truly cares about each dog and the kennels are always clean. I have a hard time leaving Oscar and I felt completely comfortable leaving him there. I love the access to be able to pick him up after hours. I would absolutely recommend bringing your fur baby there if you need to kennel them. I also like that there is an app that gives you access to the cameras to see how your pet is doing. We will be bringing Oscar back every time we go on vacation. Highly recommended!!! read more

Having just moved to South Dakota- I was very apprehensive leaving my pups overnight in a new city as well as a new boarding facility. But Curt was very friendly and assuaged my fears. The kennel area has indoor/outdoor runs which is great for the dogs. When I went to pick up my dog I went back in the kennel area and all the kennels were extremely clean. read more

I spoke to Curtis Melton on the phone and had a very negative impression from him. He was rude, arrogant, and acted like he knew it all. I tried to ask questions and he just gave me a canned spiel which was so much bragging about how much he knows. He blabbed on about his ideas of feeding the dogs a bunch up front, out of a single bowl, and on and on he went. Never did listen to my questions or give me a straight answer. I was considering using he kennel, but after that conversation I took my dogs elsewhere. Then I did a search of what others have said about Curt. Those reports say he lost a Yorkie, had another dog get stuck in the fence overnight, lied about customers locking a gate and charged them for it, withheld food from a dog until it was starving, and left some dogs on hard concrete, and from all the reviews Curt seems to really go after anyone who disagrees with him. That confirms my impression of him when I spoke to him on the phone. Curt is a know-it-all who throwns his weight around. I just don't trust the guy. read more

LOST MY DOG. My vacation was cut short and ruined. This kennel is not qualified to care for small animals. I left my two Chihuahuas there this last weekend (the first time they have ever been kenneled) and while the owner was cleaning the kennel one of them got loose in the city. When I was told about this over 3 hours after the fact they didn't even sound upset, and all indication told me they weren't out looking for my dog. The kennels have a gap so small dogs can get out anytime. My other dog that didn't get loose was really scared when we picked her up and has contracted a throat virus. My lost dog was picked up by animal control with minor bumps and soreness, but this could have ended horribly. I have been receiving calls from this kennel's owner asking how they can fix this, and they can't. They need to fix the kennels so that small dogs cannot escape. If your dog is less than 15 lbs., go elsewhere. If it's bigger this may be the kennel for you. And the 24 hour pickup was handy... when I had to pick up my other dog early so they didn't loose her too. read more

I wish there was a way I could give this kennel a 0. I used to take my Puggle there because he was super cheep ( a little bit of an odd ball). I came back early one day and the owner just happened to still be here. My dog (who always is estatic to see me and I can't get her settled down) was coward in the corner of the kennel wimpering. I of course tried to ask her what was wrong because She is just like a child to me. The owner told me I would be like that too if he just got done beating me. THen it was followed by just kidding lighten up. Excuse me but you just told me you beat the thing I care about most in this world. I don't take it lightly. I have never went back since. and I have heard by word of mouth about peoples dogs getting out of the kennels.
