I've moved several times in the last couple years and have used a variety of professional movers to…read moreload a U-Haul and before now haven't had an issue. I decided to use College Hunks Hauling Junk because they offered a junk removal service and moving services. I did have a great experience with the junk removal service and the team was professional, careful and efficient. While I can my interactions with the moving team that loaded the truck were professional and pleasant that's where I stopped being happy with everything. Once truck was loaded and I assumed (incorrectly) that it was done well and safely. We then moved the truck probably half a mile on flat roads and never exceeding a speed limit of 30 in Miami. We parked the truck since we were going to start driving the following day. The next morning when we went to the truck and opened the back in order to put some luggage in it, we noticed that stuff had already started falling backwards. It appeared that they had loaded all the boxes near the cab of the truck, and then placed one mattress against all of it, and then our dresser followed by some additional furniture. It was clearly evident that the boxes had all fallen backwards, putting weight on the mattress and causing the dresser to top backwards onto nightstand. The back of the dresser was clearly punctured and damaged by the nightstand while trying to brace the weight. After we had driven the truck that day and stopped for the night we opened the back of the truck in order to get the luggage out. It was apparent that things had continued to fall backwards and now an end table was completely broken and the dresser was further damaged. I could see all of our boxes were just falling on top of each other and nothing was even stacked anymore. As of this review, we are on day two of three of our cross-country trip and decided not to open the back of the truck until we arrive at our destination for fear that things will come spilling out and possibly injured someone. I called the company to express my dissatisfaction and concern and they submitted a claim. I asked for a manager to call me but so far I have not heard anything. At the completion of their team loading the truck my father-in-law had even asked one of the movers if they were going to tie anything off and they thought it was "good." Obviously this was not the the case.. I am not a professional mover, and I don't know how to pack a truck safely and this is why I hired a service to do so. The money that I spent to hire the service has already been far outweighed by the damages that I can see and this is just from the furniture. I don't know the state of our other belongings. Additionally, now I'm going to have to hire a service for junk removal of the damage furniture and then spend more money to replace the furniture. It's clear that I will be several thousand dollars in the red despite hiring a service that is supposed to be renowned for "professional movers." I would only recommend this service if you are looking for an easy way to throw away your money.
