My life has improved significantly and the internal awareness I've gained has followed me into my work, my fellowship, and my marriage. I cannot thank the staff enough for helping me get back on my feet. I will recommend this facility to anyone that comes to me for help.

Be wary of one star reviews for treatment centers. There are some vindictive, bitter, angry clients…read morewho will blame anyone but themselves; and treatment centers and their staff tend to be a go-to target for abuse and retaliation. In short, Annandale worked for me. Short story made long: Like any treatment center, you will get out what you put in though. But a good treatment center will give you all the tools, support and understanding you need. And that is what Annandale provides: a structure and foundation for your success, which you build on once you leave. All the various treatment center bells, whistles and accoutrements don't matter without a good staff/therapists on hand to guide and support. Luckily, Annandale has both. The program itself focuses not only on getting sober/maintaining sobriety, but also on modifying negative thought patterns and the troublesome behavior that arises as a result. They know that you must focus on the problem itself, not just the symptoms, in order to recover. Drinking is a symptom of a deeper rooted issue. They also offer some unique elements to the program, such as equine therapy and soundbaths. I scoffed initially, but kept an open mind. And guess what? It was a great help. Other groups/activities included yoga, meditation, mindfulness walks, nature walks, art, gardening, etc. They take you to 12 step recovery meetings, but Annandale itself is non-denominational as far as I could gather. Which is a plus in my book. Great location in Pasadena. Right up the street from the Rose Bowl, where you'll take walks some days. Other walks go a block or two in the other direction and offer absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the Rose Bowl, Pasadana and its environs, mountain ranges etc. It's truly a sight to behold. The house and its campus are extremely serene and quiet. The house is comfortable, a comfy "home" vibe with people that genuinely care. A special feeling to it. Doesn't feel like some "facility". Private bedrooms with their own flat screen TVs. Almost all have their own private bathroom. You get to place takeout lunch and dinner choices (with a mind towards healthy options from some great restaurants) on the iPad every day (which is included with your stay). But more than anything, it is the staff that makes or breaks the place. All complete professionals with experience and knowledge. Darryl is the owner and possibly the first person you'll speak to. a very kind, caring, genuine, astute and just cool guy. Very helpful and personable. I was in a bad way when I initially called and Darryl was an immeasurable help in easing my concerns and providing comfort in a very distressful time in my life. Remy, the on-site nurse, is extremely attentive and understanding. Dr Coe is one of the most brilliant doctors I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with--the guy pulled things out that shocked me, things that no doctor-therapist/psychiatrist has been able to reach or decipher in all my years. He gave me a true, unbridled diagnosis of where my issues stemmed from. My wife of 20 years co-signed what he said with a very troubling passion (haha). Said he was spot-on, and he was. Roxanne is one of the kindest and most lovely people I've ever met. The most gentle eyes, emphatic tone -- a truly calming presence who offered me immeasurable support so thank you . Jordan was relatable, friendly and easy to talk to. Very intelligent and understanding of how addiction and sobriety work. Kevin, one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Michael, who became a genuine friend and somebody I could always talk to -- and was always willing to listen. Becky, Carrie, Xenia, Alex, Chris and I know I'm missing a few, but really, everyone was great and offered their own unique approach/personality. This place quite literally saved my life. I was on death's door and couldn't even walk in my own when I went in. And walked out a "new' man.

I'm actually surprisingly ok with how things went here. The nurses come in your room way too much…read morebut they're on a serious regimen they have to follow ensuring you're okay post op. You're provided with a Medela Symphony which for pumps, is best in class. The NICU had mostly wonderful loving souls, really after weeks of visiting NICU shift after shift, only 1 of over a dozen nurses we met didn't seem to be sincere. The rest were just angels on earth caring for at risk babies. The food actually wasn't as bad as usual at hospitals you just have to navigate carefully LOL. All in all, I felt the maternity ward and NICU was warm and friendly. It was easy to park and go in and out of the hospital. Now the bill. It's exorbitant. I think 2 weeks of NICU was $479,000 LMAO I mean they have to just make this stuff up. Like there's a bowl of really horrible numbers and that's the one that got picked for me. I cannot fathom how someone without insurance can be faced with such a bill. But I digress about our healthcare system. Dr Greer and Dr Kaiser took great care of me and were super understanding and empathetic. Cathy in the NICU was a superstar human being. The hospital is beautiful and I felt cared for.

Today, 10/03/26 I received one of the worst calls of my life…read moreand immediately drove to the hospital's emergency department to visit my brother. I was already extremely worried and emotional about his condition, so the way I was treated at the front desk made an already difficult situation even more stressful. I arrived around 2:00 PM and checked in to visit my brother. I was told to take a seat and that someone would call me in approximately 15 minutes. My older sister was already at the hospital and had been able to see my brother. At the time, we were told that he was unconscious and unable to speak or respond. When I checked in, one of the front desk employees told me that my brother was responsive and that visitors were not being allowed at that time. I was confused because we had been told only about 20 minutes earlier that he was unconscious. When I respectfully asked how his condition had suddenly changed, I felt that I was met with an unnecessarily rude and dismissive attitude. I understand that emergency departments are extremely busy, and I understand that staff have policies they need to follow. However, I believe family members deserve compassion, patience, and clear communication especially when they are dealing with a loved one in a serious medical situation. I also needed to request a doctor's note to excuse my brother from work because of his hospitalization. Rather than feeling supported, I felt as though my questions and requests were an inconvenience. Each time we approached the front desk for updates, we felt that the staff appeared annoyed or bothered by us asking questions about our own family member. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for basic compassion and communication. When a family member is hospitalized and their loved ones are frightened and unsure of what is happening, the last thing they should have to deal with is feeling dismissed or spoken to disrespectfully. I hope the hospital will take this feedback seriously and remind front-desk staff that their communication and attitude can have a significant impact on families during extremely difficult moments. We were already scared and worried about my brother's health, and we should not have been made to feel like a burden for wanting information and trying to support him. I didn't get the front girls names but their description One of the front-desk staff members was a heavier-set woman with glasses, a layered haircut, blue scrub pants, and a black shirt. The other woman was blonde couldn't get a better look at her.

We both missed each other's calls a few times. Her last call to me was Thursday, and I returned the call Tuesday. When I called, Laura immediately told me in a very condescending and dismissive tone that "that was a long time ago" and that I needed to contact Kaiser again. I completely understand if a new referral was required, and I can acknowledge that I could have called back sooner. My issue is not the policy it's the way I was spoken to. This is a recovery center. The people calling are often already struggling, hesitant, or trying to get themselves to accept help. A little compassion goes a long way. I've dealt with another treatment center where the staff were patient, welcoming, and persistent about helping someone get into treatment, so the difference was immediately noticeable. I had read several reviews describing staff as rude or condescending before calling, and unfortunately my interaction made me understand exactly what those reviewers were talking about. Based on the number of similar reviews, I'm not particularly confident this feedback will be taken into consideration. Some of the responses and experiences described honestly come across to me as more defensive than receptive to criticism. If you've had or end up having a great experience here, I genuinely hope that continues. I can only speak about my interaction, but when someone is reaching out for help with recovery, they should not be made to feel like an inconvenience for calling back. This interaction alone was enough to turn me away and look elsewhere.
