We loose the ability to watch Netflix, Amazon ect ... at least every other month. When you call Customer Service your directed to a company overseas, it takes a minimum of 12-14 minutes every time just to speak to someone you can understand. Then add an additional 10 minutes for them to troubleshoot the issue and then tell you to contact your local internet service because they do not have a issue on their end is enough to give you a slow painful death. DirecTV through AT&T is the worst service we've ever had in the last 30 years. We moved to a new house on the north side of Boardman, cut the cable and decided to stream. AT&T told us that the 5 MPS package would be good enough to stream on a smart TV. Wrong story. After calling them a dozen times or more and getting their Phillipino call center, we couldn't get anything resolved. Finally, after three months, they told us to try the next step up. However, for us that meant adding 1 MPS for another $20 a month. The end result? The same thing. Constant buffering. As much as this grieves me to say, AT&T engaged in fraudulent sales techniques. They said we could stream but what they sold us is crap internet and egregiously poor customer service every time we called. I would never recommend AT&T internet to anyone. Ever! read more

On the positive side the picture quality is good and they have a diverse selection of channels. The negatives far outweigh the positives. First, I decided that I don't really watch TV all that much and now I'm saddled with a $220 "Early Cancellation Fee" for cancelling after 13 months. If I said how upset I am with this fee this review would not pass this website's guidelines. So add your own colorful language to this paragraph. Second, they paired me with Hughes satellite for my internet and the Hughes service is awful. The cost is sky high and just two Netflix movies will use up your 10 GB monthly allocation. If I leave Hughes I'll get another hefty cancellation fee (even after 13 months) so I'm "between a rock and a hard place" (substitute more colorful language. Third, and this isn't too bad,... if there is a thunderstorm then bye bye TV and bye bye Hughes. Depending on how moody the internet is, you might need to go and reset the whole system to get it working again. I believe If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. With that being said, I find myself seeing out forums to write negative reviews about DirectTV/AT&T. I don't even want to give one star. I've never been so frustrated in my life. This isn't just the worst cable company, they are just the worst company period. My first mistake was allowing automatic bill withdrawal from my checking account. It saves you a few dollars monthly, but in the long run costs you way more that in dollars and frustration. Oh. While on the topic of automatic withdrawal, last year I received a bill with late fees. How exactly does that happen when it's automatic? Good question. No one in costumer service knew either. Probably the worst service provider I've ever encountered. We ordered the whole home package and the main receiver would not stay connected to the wireless because apparently it was in another room. Spent over $400 and upgraded to a commercial wireless system with an access point 15 feet from the receiver. DirecTV still cannot find an issue and their device is the only one that can't connect to the network quite honestly it is garbage and so is their customer service. read more

I have had this company for over 15 yrs. I've had issues with them at various times. The pricing going up was the main one. That has been resolved. One time I spoke to a customer service person and she was friendly in the beginning. Then she became ignorant later into the discussion. She put me on mute so she couldnt hear my response. I could hear her state, I'm not getting a response and hung up on me. I have the basic pkg and Just a few days ago they took off one of the channels, the Food Network. I called them. I told them about it. They said they are repackaging. I asked if they were going to reduce my bill or give me another station to make up for one they took away. They said no. This company's customer service is very poor. A technician was scheduled to come to our home. The service call was scheduled 2 weeks in advance. We were given a 4 hour service window. After waiting around all afternoon, we were told the technician had run out of equipment and would need to reschedule. Resch eduled 2 days later, again with a 4 hour arrival window, 8am-12pm. The technician called us at 8:30am to tell us he did not have the correct equipment. Rescheduled 7 days later. Same 4 hour service window. Equipment was installed, and after several tests, it stopped working. Customer service told us they would overnight a new box to us and we'd receive it by 8pm the next day. Did not receive it. Called and was told it would arrive the next day............................... I'm giving them 1 start because to their credit, DirecTV is discounting our monthly bill for the next 12 months due to the inconvenience. But if the equipment doesn't work, there will be no service to discount! read more

NEVER EVER FALL FOR THE SCAM OF A COMPANY THEY ARE!! They do not care whatsoever about their customers. They totally take advantage and steal money whenever they have a chance. I loved the service until I was forced to vacate my home (which I had a 2 years lease, hence my 2 year contract with them) and they said it'd be $260+ to cancel and they didn't care whatsoever that I was once a happy customer and begged them to try and help as I wanted to use in the future. Suspending accounts does nothing, you still have to pay full cancelation after the fact. They now say I owe money from previous months which makes NO sense as I had this on a bundle with Verizon which made automatic payments and I never missed one. Totally awful and just trying to steal a dollar when they can. Yah, well...I was getting service with them moving from Comcast because they had said that I would get a deal on cable t.v., and phone. The deal that they said they would get me was not able to happen because I had verizon fios in my area. The person on the line with me making the deal did not check to see if this was the case, or inform me that I might not be able to have phone through them if I had Verizon fios in my area. So, I ended up with just cable t.v. at an alarmingly high rate of 100+ dollars and I was not happy. Then a year later after I realized that it was not worth it for me to have them because they can not get me the channels I want and I am paying too much. I wanted to disconnect service and the lady on the phone tells me I signed a 2 year contract and I need to pay an early termination fee of 200 dollars. No one informed that I was signing a 2 year contract. In fact, I thought that people did away with that kind of thing a long time ago. I know cell phone companies used to make you sign long term contracts, but I had no idea they still did things this corrupt. This company does not help you and all they do is scam you. I switched from Comcast to DIRECTV based on their claims of superiority and cost savings. When they began the installation of my cable, they refused to fish the lines, even though there was a hub located in the attic (previously installed by Comcast), they drilled through my siding in 5 different locations and ran white cable through doorways and up and around doorways to get to television locations. I have holes that you can see daylight from the outside of my home into the inside of my home. I have cable running up and around doorways ruining the look of my rooms. Then winds ripped the siding from my home. The siding installers unequivocally stated that it was due to the running of this white cable. My siding is damaged beyond repair, replacement is my only option. When I called DIRECTV about this they said they would "note my account". Then I tried to order a PPV movie and was told I needed a phone line attached to my main TV for this to work; did they not do the installation? I am so miserable that I ever switched from Comcast, so all I can say is DON'T DO IT. The few dollars saved a month is not worth the damage done to my home. I feel sorry for Verizon to be paired with Directv they are an unaccommodating company that is nothing like they promise. read more
