We moved and bought a home and I think the realtor set us up for a 'concierge' service to help set up utilities and cable. I never enter a service agreement that locks you in for a period of time and have no recollection of being told that's what we were doing. I thought Direct TV was a Spectrum product! After the bill went up to $150/month for TV channels and premium streaming services we did not even know we were paying for, we got a quote from Spectrum for $40/month for channels we watch. When we called to cancel Direct TV, we were told we would have to pay almost $400 to end the contract! After fighting with them on the phone and getting NO HELP, we decided to pay just to end any contact with them. Why should consumers have to call service providers to make sure you are 'getting the best deal' -- It's more like having to call and beg them not to rip you off! My husband and I were completely frustrated with DirecTV. We were seriously considering switching when we lost our service on the night of our NHL hockey playoffs. However, today Freeman Johnson came to help us with our problems. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was working perfectly. I have had Direct TV for years.Whenever AT&T bought them,the service has been terrible. About three months ago they did an update and the trouble has continued. We call every other day to complain.Theu say they have a software issue and are working on it.They can not give a time that the issue will be resolved. My mom was taken advantage of and misled by a sales rep at Sam's Club in Greenville, SC. The rep's name is Anderson Waldrep. My mom ordered a bundle package with Directv and AT&T. He never told her that the AT&T service was unavailable in her area. He told her that Directv would come to set up service on 2/5/18 and AT&T was coming on 2/6/18. The Directv service was installed as promised and the person who installed the service stated AT&T would be out the next day. My mom discovered from a neighbor that the phone/internet was not available due to geographically restrictions. She immediately contacted Anderson and he assured her that he would cancel the bundle package agreement with no penalty. He literally gave her the runaround and never cancelled the package as promised. To date, he does not return her calls or emails. Meanwhile, on 2/13/18, she called Directv directly and spoke with Jay (Jamillia) in the loyalty department. The rep stated that she would cancel the service under a miscommunication cancellation and stated her manager, Gary Moore would waive the early termination fee due to the fact that she was misled by Anderson Waldrep. She assured her that she would not be charged this fee. A week or so later, she received a bill with the early termination fee and other charges that she was told would not be listed. She called Directv immediately and spoke with 5 different reps explaining the situation. The last rep told her to file a dispute online. She filed the online dispute and finally received an email stating that she contacted the wrong department. Directv and their reps are liars. She should have never been led to believe that the AT&T services were available in her area. Ultimately, Anderson Waldrep breached the contract by not delivering the entire contract. She should not be responsible for the early termination fee because she did not receive what she agreed to per the original contract. Buyers beware of the shady practices of Directv and I do not recommend anyone sign up at the Sam's Club in Greenville, SC. She is seeking a resolution and needs this early termination fee erased. Waste of time to deal with customer service and the people on web media page who say they want to "help please DM". It's all a sham. A customer of 10+ years, lies to, have been denied supervisors on multiple occasions. Directv can not pull recordings of phone calls to verify what transpired or what was promised to be done. Or maybe they can but prefer to "stick it" to customers. I will never go back to Directv and I suggest no one acquires their service. The product is great but customer service lies and does not fulfill promises made, don't assume your call is recorded because they "can't find" any of them. read more

I would not recommend DirecTV in Greenville, SC to anyone! I have lived here for 1-year, and after 6 months with Spectrum ($$$) I decided to try DirecTV about 4-5 months ago. Long story short I took a day off from work for installation of Cable/Internet, the internet installer failed to show up so I cancelled the entire installation. I have a smart TV and several computers. Now, Aug 11, 2018 I was scheduled for just DirecTV cable installation between 9-12PM, by 2pm the Installer still had not shown up, even after he had called my phone twice AND sent me a text message, which I replied to. I called DirecTV customer service (India) 3 times and was put on hold for 2 hours total time while they claimed to be working on it. On the third call I was transferred to what sounded like a US office, and was told the Installer WAS coming and he would call before arriving. IT IS NOW 8:15PM, and I've already scheduled my Spectrum Cable to be shut off. The bottom line is DIRECTV in Greenville, SC is completely UNRELIABLE! If you have another option, take it!! read more

I hate Direct TV. I've had them for 11 years in Waynesville, NC. Their customer service is terrible. Always long waits when calling in. I was thrilled to get an upgrade to the new Genie and Mini Genie. They sent a guy out to install it. He insisted that we would have to cut down 2 trees. I requested a 2nd opinion and a supervisor came out with installer. They had no problem putting it up so the first guy was a liar. Since we do not live in this home, I had to pay someone to come out twice to get this done. I had originally requested 1 genie and 1 mini genie but later requested a 2nd mini genie (prior to install). I was told that wouldn't be a problem and it was noted. Unfortunately when I called to get my 3rd genie, there was nothing in the notes so they said it would be $99 plus $7/month. I spent 90 minutes on this call and talked with 2 supervisors. They wouldn't budge on the additional cost. Their employee didn't properly note the file and that mistake would have cost me almost $200 for 1 year. No thanks. I could have originally gotten up to 5 boxes for free so I find this completely unacceptable. I hope when my contract with them expires in 2 years they have competition in my area so I can leave. read more

Love the price love the service. Any time I have an issue they fix it right away. Picture quality is awesome . I suggest to everyone. They even offer a way to save money by referring your friends and family. You and your friends save 10 a month for each referral you send. read more

Doesn't get any worse. Horrible! Had to fight for months to get a credit for erroneous charge. Customer service was absolutely terrible!

This part is for specifically for the installation provided by the technician. Overall not bad but I've had better assistance by other carriers in other states. The dish and wires were already installed from the previous tenant. That should have made things a lot easier and it did. However I feel the tech procrastinated and didn't do as much could have been done. The connection wire in the living room is a hole in the floor, he just left it as is and stretched the wire to it's max (which in my opinion isn't enough). The wire could have been tacked to the wall with wire guides, most cable techs carry them in the tool kit. He could have also given me a wire that was long enough. I could have asked and it's the only reason I will leave this at 3 stars otherwise it would be a solid 2 stars. For AT&T/direct tv custom service online application and phone support. A SOLID 1 STAR. I'm not going to go into it further, that should speak for itself. read more

I signed up for Directv with AT&T U-verse. It was after I had Directv installed I found out that AT&T can only deliver the internet at 1.5 Mbps at the most. You need at least 2.0 to use many of the functions of Directv, like on demand and recording play-back. Directv and AT&T have been difficult to reach (after hours on hold) and not helpful trying to resolve the problem. I am disappointed with both companies, but more so with AT&T for not telling me the whole truth. read more

Just spent the past 2 hours and 45 minutes on the phone with DirectTV AND AT&T, back and forth like tennis. I moved out of my former residence in July 2015 and placed my account on vacation mode, meaning I continued paying $5 a month for service, but all other monthly charges would cease. I called just now to re-activate my service after "vacation" and it turns out even though AT&T "merged" and I received my monthly bill under a blanket of AT&T, that when I called to put the ACCOUNT from which I received BOTH bills, I had to call DirectTV and tell them! "Ok," I said to myself "this is bogus, but surely we can get this resolved". NOPE. I am paid in full, but they're saying I still owe DirectTV $300 because I didn't specify that I wanted service to discontinue until further notice to THEM even though AT&T sent me the f***king bill. I updated my address with AT&T: heard nothing of this. Now I can't even get service started up because I've been transferred to so many different people that no one knows what the f**k is going on anymore because it's literally gone across the ocean to India so many times that the servers haven't had time to update their information WHICH IS HILARIOUS CONSIDERING IT'S AN INTERNET PROVIDER.
