Diptyque began in 1961 as a Parisian boutique at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain, founded by the trio of: Christiane Montadre Gautrot, Yves Coueslant, and Desmond Knox-Leet.
This creative founding trio were comprised of people in the Arts with a vision guided by creativity rather than commercial ambition. Each being: a Painter, a Theater set Designer, and an Interior Designer.
The shop was named "Diptyque" based on a two panel display - aka "Diptych". The shop originally sold unique fabrics and curated treasures. Later, the trio launched their iconic scented candles in 1963.
By 1968, they introduced their first unisex perfume named L'Eau, blending artistic, natural and earthly transcontinental inspired fragrances.
The company's fragrances cover the broad spectrum of the the four seasons. Each scent is derived from the the highest quality source with respect to the stewardship of the land, environment and sustainability of our planet Earth. I adore their candles, soaps and fragrances many years as gifts and for my home.
Merci beaucoup, Diptyque ! read more
