The thin crust has great flavor and the ingredients for the sauce and toppings are higher quality and it shows. The grated cheese is a difference maker too. The restaurant is clean. My only knock is that I wish the crust was baked a little crispier. However, I will be reheating some slices tomorrow and I expect that the pizza will be spot on like a NY/NJ slice I'm used to. Overall I really like Heritage Pizza. They really make an effort to make a good pizza and it shows.

I was pleased to visit Mama's -- it was very busy but still pleasant, warm, quiet, and nobody had to wait for a seat despite the number of customers. I was not warned about the extremely large portions of food so ordered a slice of Sicilian pizza which was about the size of a small cake. I also ordered angel hair pasta and a meatball (which was the size of a baseball) as well as a chicken salad, Pittsburgh-style with fries on it. Everything was good, especially the service. Mama's seems to be geared more to locals but I still had a great meal and everyone was super friendly. There is another place I love to eat at nearby or I would have come back for another meal. A crisp crust, great sauce that's NOT sugary sweet, real pepperoni. These guys know how to cook a pizza crust! You want to hear a crunch on the crust! This is by far the best pizza I've had in Altoona. There's one other place that comes pretty close, but this place tops it. I'll say it again, they cook the damn crust properly! I got the Cup and Char Pepperoni. It's a thick crust Sicilian style. There was tons of pepperoni! I want to try one of their round pies next and calzones. I will be back. Thank you for bringing real NY style to us!
