At the back however is The Boat House, a little treasure known by locals and not by tourists. A lovely place to be with a friendly well maintained interior and deck overlooking boats and the river. The owner is so friendly, welcoming and a clever thoughtful lady. The food is genuinely home made, superbly and expertly done. I will definitely be returning, as many of their customers evidently regularly do, as they sit here chatting in the friendly nice environment.

Those who haven't heard of a English tearoom it's basically a cafe that usually looks like your grand parents living room where your served pots of tea and an array of English cakes and scones with jams, cream and butter usually. Must admit that the Lime and Soda price was more expensive tan other Carveries we've been to ie £1.70 for a medium glass. Carvery was well presented and was plated up for us. We were offered the opportunity to have additional veg bought to the table. The choice of meats were limited to Gammon, Turkey or Ribs....(not quite what was advertised). Choice of veg was good, except for the roast pots....it seems no carvery can get these right..!! Regrettably, as with all carveries I have experienced the food is never really hot.....and soon cools before one can complete the meal. Desserts came at a price of £5.95 each with the exception of Ice Cream. One scoop £2.50, tow scoop £4.50 and three scoop £5.95.....quite dear fro Ice Cream. The staff were charming and the place was very clean, BUT a big problem is PARKING. Abysmal....quite a walk to the nearest car park at Surrey Street.

There were about 10-12 different types of dead fresh and massive cakes and a great selection of teas and coffees and other things. The guy inside immediately offered to move a table outside so we could sit in the sun (as the other tables were full) and the lady serving us was lovely and very helpful. It's ever so slightly more modern than a few of the other tea shops in Arundel, but by no means loses its charm. It's just a little more fresh and clean, and the food quite a bit better.

My grandaughter loves it. There is acccess to some fantastic walks around the Arundel estate from here, but some of the hills could be a little much for some!!. There is a lovely walk around the lake if you go left to the North side. Lovely picnic area and tea/coffe facilities. The Wetland Centre is a few yards down the road which is worth a visit.

What a little gem…read more In the beautiful Grange Gardens is a little hole in the wall selling tea, coffee, cakes and great sandwiches. Also ice creams for the little ones. Excellent home made cakes and good, hearty sandwiches. Real crockery - what a treat to have a proper cup of tea outdoors.
