Unreliable and unprofessional- do not use…read more We purchased a "gourmet 4 course dinner in our home" for $1500 at a silent auction for a charity, with the thought that if she did well with an event for our friends, we would book her for more important, professional events later. I'm SO GLAD I made that choice because this was a bad experience. We scheduled the date, set the menu ... and then Vivian canceled the day beforehand. We rescheduled and declined her offer for extra food to make it right, offering some grace since issues happen sometimes. On the 2nd attempt, she sent me a text the afternoon of the event to say she was "stuck in traffic," but her sous chef would get things started and she would be there in time to cook the dinner. She never showed up AT ALL that night. The sous chef said Vivian just had other events that conflicted with mine-- so apparently it was just poor planning. Her sous chef was very young, nice and hardworking. However, it was a lot for one person, without having the support person to plate & serve the food, clear the courses, etc. I pitched in to be nice and acted as our server, but for $1500, I definitely should not have had to! And more importantly, since she couldn't focus solely on cooking, she made some mistakes, such as inconsistent results in the temperature of the meat across the servings (some were great and others were overcooked) and cold, over-mashed potatoes that turned pasty/gummy. Vivian also forgot about the conversation we previously had about our dessert choice and had the girl make something different than what I chose. I made that dessert choice for a very specific reason and am frustrated by her lack of attention to detail, which is obviously a pattern. On top of Vivian's poor behavior with the 2nd "no show", when I gave her the feedback about the food at our event and told her that I was disappointed, she decided to ARGUE with me, rather than even apologizing. Apparently, she felt she knew exactly how everything tasted, based on a few pictures that the sous chef texted to her, so I was wrong. The first time was for my daughters first holy communion party and it was amazing and we recommended them to many people and brought them a lot of business! The second time it was mediocre...we ordered a thanksgiving complete meal with desserts and sides we ordered this for 11 people and received enough for about 4 people even though we paid for 11 people. We were offered a free meal Pack for the shortage in food. The third and last time was this past Christmas where we ordered a complete Christmas dinner with sides and desserts for 11 people again. We used the free meal offer from the past poor experience figuring the first time was amazing and the thanksgiving problems must of been a one off. Our Christmas food was scheduled to be delivered on the 24th. After no contact on the 24th we finally reached them around 7pm at night and they said they would drop it off at 1pm on the 25th as I told them that was the time we were planning on eating. At 1:30 on the 25th they text me saying that everything except the turkey and ham just blew up in their kitchen and that they won't be delivering anything! Keep in mind we ordered salad, cheese plate, pies that don't involve an oven or stove! When questioned about the above items that shouldn't of been involved in this blow up they just stated again that they only have turkey and ham. After many more messages begging for at least the turkey and ham to be delivered a small tray of meat was delivered around 5pm!!! The tray was probably enough to feed about 4-6 people not the 11 we paid for! They offered to refund my money and give me a $200 credit towards another purchase with them. I have asked multiple times via messenger and requested the money back through Zelle multiple times to only have my messages ignored and no money refunded! So technically they still owe me $59 in cash and a four person meal along with $200 worth of other meals! I love to support local businesses! So sad that this one in not on the up and up anymore! I have had two experience in the past with this catering company. I decided to go with them expecting the same experience but this was not the case at the end. My husband, fiancé at the time, and I went to the testing, Jennifer took care of us and we expressed our menu was going to be pork-free and it was reflected in our options, chicken and steak. About a month before the wedding they changed the contact person as Jennifer left the company. This cause a great deal of stress in me due to the fact that when I spoke with Maria she seemed that she did not have a clue if what I was talking about, regarding all the menu and specifics, I had already discuss with Jennifer and changed completely the quote adding a good $800 extra to quote. Come wedding day, first, I had nice matching silverware and the team decided to put the metal silverware next to the silver wear. Here the common sense was not used. This clashed with the decor. I remember mentioning to put the silverware next to the food so if people wanted to use those instead of the ones in the table they had the choice. Secondly, the caesar salad had bacon on it and it was pre-made. Once again, I was very explicit about not wanting pork in the menu. Half of my family ended not been able to eat the salad and I found this so annoying as I paid almost $2,400 for the services. Third, the head server approach me at some point of the wedding to ask me about the services and I told her how I was feeling and told her 'not great'. To this day NOBODY from this company has reached out to me for feedback. Needless to say they won't have my business nor recommendation in the future. Lastly, keep in mind it has been almost a full year of my wedding and I still feel strongly about it all.

They catered our son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner 1 week after Hurricane Ian. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Their staff members, Ice (lead server) and Dunia (2nd server) were absolutely awesome! They showed up on time coming to Venice, Fl from Tampa during very heavy "Ian" recovery traffic. Not only did they impress us with arriving with ample time to set up before guests arrived, they were very personable, happy, enjoyable and extremely efficient in serving and clean up. The food by Affordable Catering was absolutely amazing. The 62+ guests we had were thrilled with the food and service. Everything tasted so delicious, in particular, the Maui Chicken was a HUGE success. We received nothing but raves about the food. Thank you "Affordable Catering" for making our first experience an excellent experience. Marie Bentancourt, my sales associate, was also key in making our event a success as well. She worked very hard at satisfying my needs. She was very conscious of my concerns and had perfect suggestions to satisfy my specific needs. Thank you once again Affordable Catering.
