I don't recall ever rating a bbt place 1 star, but here we are. Completely unacceptable experience and not representative at all of Ding Tea stores elsewhere. 1) You order at a table set up outside the store (to block entry into the store) and communicate via speakerphone with the server inside. Far too heavy-handed considering most restaurants are reopening for dine-in! Also there's 0 shade for us customers lining up outside. 2) The server was simply a mess. A customer in front of us returned with her wrongly-made drink just as I realized mine was missing the pearls I had asked for. 3) The ads outside the door are SO misleading. The taro milk tea I got looked fabulous but came with literally non-existent slivers of taro-flavoured mush. 4) Absolute worst in terms of taste -- agreed upon by both myself and my husband (who got the blueberry milk tea). Ding Tea is what I miss most about living in Victoria. I have yet to find a Vietnamese bubble milk tea that compares to Ding! They use freshly brewed teas for many of their drinks, so they're super authentic and not syrupy sweet. The golden boba is so good too--I could actually drink this every day. The shop is always lively, but they move quickly, so you'll be in and out in less than 10 minutes! There's a cute little bar area and a few tables for waiting too. read more

I read another complaint on Google reviews about ordering a "smoothie" and getting a slush so I thought I'd help clarify here. The "smoothie" on the menu is actually a slush by normal standards. If you order a mango or passionfruit "smoothie", it's going to have a slurpee-like texture, but they call it a "smoothie", and they don't understand what you mean by "slush". Today's conversation went like: Me: "Can I get half ice on the slush?" Staff: "We don't have slush. We can't adjust ice level on the smoothie." Me: "The smoothie is full of ice, it's really a slush, but it doesn't matter what you call it. Okay." Then I tried to order half sweet for the matcha smoothie, but that wasn't allowed either. Okay. I ended up ordering the Taro green tea drink, and it's kind of terrible. Tasted like plain milk mixed with green tea. The amount of taro is very small and not well blended at all so it sits at the bottom. I would avoid the taro drinks like another reviewer indicated below. The mango, passionfruit, and matcha red bean smoothies are quite good though. We will be back. read more

Went in today to get the first bubble tea that I've had in almost 5 years. I was extremely happy with this spot as my reintroduction into the boba lifestyle. Although part of a chain, this location is one of only two Ding Teas in Canada (with the other being all the way over in Ontario). My friend was taking me on a boba-tasting adventure and thought that this would be a good starting point. We got their most popular tea, the Bubble Milk Tea, which was extremely good! It was quite a calm flavour, as it was actually in tea! I see very strong flavours in boba quite often so I'm not exactly sure what the norm is, or if you typically see both sweet and regular most places you go but I thought it was great that they had both. It's quite inexpensive to get a regular or large bubble tea here and I found it to be very tasty and refreshing. Plus, the location simply can't be beaten for me, since I spend so much time at the university and the surrounding area! read more

This place always has customers outside, maybe it's bubble tea scarcity mixed with location? But it's really not very good, in customer service or in quality. Because of covid you currently have to wait outside, a person inside might holler out at you but you can't understand them. There is no taste for black or Jasmine milk tea at all. Boba has no taste, either. It tastes like sugar water only. Olong tea tastes little better. The person doesn't say hi or smile to customers at all. I am surprised this is an international chain store. It is kind of disgrace for Taiwanese boba tea quality. I am not sure is it this store didn't follow the standard of the tea quality and just cheat the quality or just this is just the way they make terrible tea. read more

I came in the other day to purchase a Butterfly Pea Honey Lemon tea. As stated on the advertisement, it was advertised for $5.00 for a large size. However, upon looking at my receipt (before the order was made), I was charged for $5.50. When confronted with the employee, they indicated the price changed (without notice) and did not offer an apology or refund of the difference for their mistake. I like the Hokkaido milk tea, and I've tried their signature milk tea, and the Hokkaido coffee. They were all very good, and the boba pearls were cooked nicely too. The Hokkaido and Hokkaido coffee were my favourite and I will definitely be going back for those. However, the flavors are overall pretty standard. read more
