Owner also sells different tea including puer tea. For now they serve Alchemy Coffee which smells and tastes amazing - it's a place worth to visit if you are real coffee-lover. I've been looking for a good coffee in Croydon for ages and finally found it in Crushed Bean! Soon they also going to open sitting area downstairs that will be possible to hire for private events as well. Prices are more than affordable - £2.20 for Latte and just £1.20 for fresh baked kiwi square, such a bargain! They are working closely with The Bread Factory based in Hendon for a great choice of pastries and snacks on offer. There are also hot and cold sandwiches that looked yummy if you are hungry. Service is great as well - guys who are also the owners are very friendly and know what they are doing, wish them good luck and hope they will soon grow into a chain available all around London. Owned by a lovely South African woman, she changed this property from what used to be a stagnant Caribbean cafe to one of the best places to eat in South London. The chef is from Australia with a great knowledge of food from around the world, and he'll serve up some of the best dishes you've ever had as you warm up inside the super cosy interior. The colours are nice, the people are friendly, the food great, there's books to read, it's warm and the service is quick. There's not much more you could possibly want from a cafe, and its a real gem considering the surrounding area is full of fast food restaurants and fried chicken shops. Go! You'll love it!

Staff were really friendly and it was a nice spot to spend an hour or so. The cafe also has various items for sale including plants, crockery, candles and kids items, however I found they were priced pretty high. This is why I dropped a star on my review as I found it was on the pricier side. Tea was £2 and a slice of cake/cupcake/pastry was £3. I did enjoy my tea and cake and the cake was homemade but it was a bit of a small portion to justify the £3 price. However I appreciate the vicinity of the cafe probably warrants the price and it is in quite a touristy area with the London Eye a 5 min walk away. The cafe has been there 4 months and it makes a change to visit a local business vs a chain cafe, hopefully it is here to stick around. So give it a go! The ale selection on tap was a little odd - I think 5 pale ales plus one amber ale, in December, with no dark ales at all but the Kernel export stout in bottles was delicious if a tad pricey. Apparently it's often on tap so keep an eye. The Christmas burger was incredibly good - the combination of camembert, cranberries and mustard mayo brought so many surprisingly complementary flavours and fundamentally the meat itself was fantastic. Best burger I've had in a while. I liked how there is a video games corner - a comfy sofa in front of a tv and you can borrow mario kart from the bar! There's also table football and pool and it got very noisy as competitive spirits rose, so caution if you're looking for somewhere really calm, but overall I'd love to come back here and will try to do so as unfortunately it's likely to close due to some horrible luxury micro flat development killing the only thing in the area that would actually service the tastes of the kind of people in the market for a luxury micro flat. Will be a real loss for Croydon if that happens.
