Diner on 16th is what I expected a diner to look like. Checkered floors, vinyl records, subway tiles, diner couches and American sports culture paraphernalia mounted on walls. All it needed were waiters in skates and it would add an authentic and retro touch to the whole diner experience. However, it's just a small space so the skates would have to take a backseat.
The magic words for what made me decide to eat at Diner on 16th were: Cheesecake Milkshake (P136). Yes. I needed a cheesecake fix and a milkshake fix. So when my latest cravings were rolled into one, I just couldn't pass that up! Shakes are placed in mason jars. If I wasn't full from what I ate, I would've ordered another glass.
I arrived at the restaurant at around 2 in the afternoon. I pretty much had the whole restaurant all to myself. Which was relaxing for me. I was in a whole anti-social mood and not really in the mood for a crowd. I was happy to hangout just by myself with a book, my milkshake and Diner on 16th's Soy Ginger Glazed Chicken and Ube Waffles (P249). You have to try out that chicken and waffle combo! It was definitely a treat to mix it with a Filipino favourite such as ube (in a waffle)!
The menu has all of our favourite American dishes such as pancakes, buffalo wings, beer-battered chicken with waffles, burgers, sandwiches, more waffles and shakes! The prices for the dishes are at reasonable prices between P80-280. The expensive dish on their menu is the Beef Medallion Rice Bowl at P533. Plus, they have a sizable amount of food per plate. I had to take home half of my meal! Which was absolutely fine because I ate the rest of my ube waffles at home! read more
