This place is not closed. As of 10/3/2022 it is open 07:00 am to 8:00 pm. It is next to the Interstate Hotel. It has a very friendly staff. The menu has breakfast all day, lunch, and dinner items. They have daily specials. It is popular with all the locals. This place is traditional 60-70 style dinner. The food odd hot and delicious.. menu has something for everyone on it. This area is probably the next oil boom in the North USA. The Oil Rig Hands who provide the US oil from US soil, stay at the hotel and help this business stay open and the Great American truck drivers come and go regularly here. The coffee is always ready and hot. It is a seat yourself. We were looking for a bite to eat before heading back to Texas this morning and this diner was across the street from our hotel. We walked in and we were sweetly greeted and asked to find our own seat. This diner is a quaint little place with Midwest charm. Our waitress greeted us and swiftly got our drinks while we decided on what we wanted. There were lots of locals having breakfast, lots of chatter, a perfect local favorite dining place. My husband decided on the breakfast steak & eggs, it also came with hash browns and toast (or 3 pancakes) and I decided on the western omelette and it came with hash browns and toast (or 3 pancakes). Our meals came out quick for as busy as they were. Our meals were hot and plated nicely. My husbands steak was cooked to order (medium rare) and a nice, thick piece of meat, with grill marks and all! You just don't see that much any more! He was pretty impressed and that's a hard thing to do! He said the steak, eggs and all was delicious! My western omelette was fabulous as well. The ham and vegetables inside were cooked before they were added to the omelette. That is uncommon too. So yummy! I ate every bit of my plate! We both recommend this place and give 2 thumbs up! If we could take this diner back to Amarillo, TX we would! Keep up the great job!! Take a break, get off I-80 and have a bite to eat! read more

First, a correction to the stated hours. The Diner IS open Sundays until 2pm. I went to the Diner after church on Sunday, and discovered that many others were doing likewise. I opted for "second breakfast" instead of lunch by ordering steak & eggs. I was not disappointed. It's simple fare, but getting it all exactly right (especially the medium rare steak) is uncommon these days. Kudos! I'll be back. OK let's face it it is Kimball and there's not much choice. With that said they do have a great little diner and this is it. From the outside you wouldn't think much of this restaurant but when you get inside immediately feel welcomed and the service is very friendly. All the food I've ever eaten here has been wonderful, fresh and hot and well seasoned and I've never had a bad meal. The service is always good and I would have to say that their breakfast is their specialty. Also a great value to boot. If you're in the area give the Diner a try you will not be disappointed. If you're a guest of the hotel you can even order for takeout and they will put it in containers for you so you can go back to your room and eat your dinner. By the number of truckers in the parking lot you can tell this place is quality. read more

This is the only restaurant in this town. Don't know if it was just the morning and the people that were there but the minute my family and I walked in everyone in there just started staring. Look I get the dingo dango home town redneck crap but come on don't be rude. The Waitress needs to retire as she forgot to put our order in all together and was extremely rude. After waiting an hour, our food finally showed up, was mediocre at best but good for the middle of nowhere. This place needs to work on their service to the customer. Kimball, Nebraska right off I-80 come hungry. No fancy tablecloth with matching china and real silver but wow! The food is GOOD, WHOLESOME, TASTY, and PLENTIFUL. You must have the Boston Boil soup--a meal in itself and piping hot. Order breakfast all day anytime but I had a hamburger steak-made to my specifications (peppers, onions, & Gravy) and blew my diet out the door! Light airplane pilots are always looking for another good destination for weekend flights. 10 of us landed at Kimball Airport and descended on the Diner this morning. They gave us our own room, started bring coffee and soft drinks before we had all been seated. Orders were fast, food delivered to all of us at the same time, and continued great service. I ordered the chicken tender dinner and it had 4 tenders, a salad, mashed potatoes, a roll, and some green beans for only $8.95. Was recently traveling to Scotts Bluff Nebraska from California on a Friday afternoon and came across "The Diner" on S. Hwy 71. Service was friendly and quick. prices were very reasonable. You don't get a good cup of coffee in CA for a buck. Great burger too. Tried to stop by for a road cup of coffee next day but they close at 2pm on the weekends. read more
